Need ideas promoting an offline seminar online through social media like facebook

Our company is running a HR support seminar in liverpool UK, the last seminar was an amazing success and we're still getting business now from over a year ago.

The problem is it's closing on the deadline and we need to fill 200 seats. We're not getting enough confirmed seats after emailing a 3k database.

We're a web design company.

Part of my diea is to trawl HR support networks, groups and internet websites possibly local to the northwest of England and try to get this event "out there".

Today i'm hitting facebook we've created a group, an event but now we would like to go to other groups and events around the subject of Human Resources and then invite them to the event.

Does anyone have experience in this area and could give me some advice?

Since you can only invite FB friends to your group, you'd probably need to add members in those other HR related groups before you can get them to join your group.

Putting a link to your group in those group probably won't be much of use because most people do not necessarily check postings in groups frequently. Perhaps you could message the admin of those groups to see if they are willing to blast to their members list about your event (and perhaps offer them a cut or something).

Alternatively you may want to try Facebook Ads to create social ads to your group.
