For Goodness Sake.. Check Out The Stuff BEFORE You Promote It!

I received a promotional email yesterday recommending
"Email Marketing Dynamo" and it looked interesting so I
shelled out a few dollars for master rights thinking that
it might be something that my subscribers would benefit
from.

Boy was I wrong!

It's the worst information product that I've ever seen,
and, believe me, I've seen some real crap in my time.

Anyway, this isn't a product review thread.

I made a blog post about the product and added an
extract in the comments section to illustrate the degree
of "crapness"

It's a heads up, just in case you're ever tempted to take
a short cut and send out a recommendation before you
take time to review the product.

Just imagine what it would have done to my credibility
had I been stupid enough to endorse such a poor quality
product.

Don't cut corners, you may save a few minutes but lose
your reputation.

Good post John! I always use the product before I promote it, that way you know exactly what you are offering. Not only that, but if it's a software product then you know how to install it too and can help others, if need be.

It amazes me why anyone would promote a product they have never used or tried.

      Hi John,

I just went to read your blog and post a comment and accidentally spammed the heck out of your comments.

Could you clear up the mess for me if you get a chance please?

It wasn't as bad as you think Roger!

You are ranking pretty well for the product name in organic search! That should help spread the message.

      Hi John,

You're just leaving the 'almost identical' double-post there to humiliate me, after removing the explanation post....aren't you?

I see now that it's the 'comment luv' one. I've only been up for five and a half hours so I guess I need more tea before I can cope with all of your new-fangled plugins...besides, when someone shares a little luv with me it always gets my head in a spin.

I must admit that I to have seen some rubbish promoted lately. The increase in kak is just astonishing over the last 6 months.

I recently culled a lot of my lists to stop receiving every promo under the sun.

People have to start realizing that you promote your reputation as much as a product.

            John,

What on earth are you doing? I thought you were a top marketer!

There was you in the post title telling people not to buy so I got my credit card ready and then in the body of the post you told me not to buy.

            I'm confused

Yes! Make it a review site of products to avoid.

    Hey John..

I read this on your blog yesterday and gave you applause for your honesty... I couldn't find a link to the product anywhere at the time, and a quick google search ensures that anyone looking to invest in this will see your critical assessment

I will NEVER...repeat NEVER promote a product unless I have looked
at it and thoroughly reviewed it first.

As a matter of fact, here is my typical promotional process for affiliate
products, especially in the IM niche.

      1. Get product
      2. Read product
      3. Review product on my blog
      4. Make video review and submit to YouTube.
      5. Write articles on niche related to product and send readers to review.

That is the ONLY way I will ever promote an affiliate IM product.

As a result, I promote very few because most of the stuff I get sent is
      crap.

C'mon Steven - you know better than that - you know this place is full of jokers (ahem), just waiting for someone to leave themselves wide open like that so they can step in with a witty retort...

    John,

Excellent Warrior post on and blog review.

Sounds like someone took one of those mass PLR pieces and slapped it online! It's no wonder the general public looks at IM with cautious eyes.

Made a vow some time ago never to promote a product I have not reviewed.

    Have you contacted the seller?

      Unfortunately,

      Not everyone is like John.

I got an email from a list that I trusted last week. We had a bunch of snow and lost power so I used the last bit of battery I had on my laptop and my wireless card to get into my email and buy a product that was recommended and about half way through...I was so pissed off I could hardly stand it.

I'm no this guys list because I bought one of his products which are for the most part intermediate IM products and tools. The product he was pitching me was geared towards someone who had never turned a computer on.

It was seriously the worst $47 I have every spent in my life. Now I no longer trust the list and have unsubscribed.

Thanks for keeping your morals in tact John and not whoring yourself out for a couple of bucks. I'm sure your subscribers appreciate it

I liked it! lol, just kidding. But for something that cheap (being sold for $6) I wouldn't expect it to be great.

Glad to hear that some list owners actually pay attention to what they promote...I've seen some hideous products promoted to my inbox. Needless to say I'm no longer on those lists

        Regards,

        Chris
