Warriors... Keep this in mind... It can SERIOUSLY change your life...

I want to tell you all of something that happened today that will REALLY (hopefully) put things in perspective for you...

It can quite honestly change your life if you let it...

A few weeks ago I was having a talk with a friend of mine about a few goals he had regarding his life... I had decided that it would be good if he talked to someone else about them (as it would force him to be accountable, etc.).

He gave me a list of things he wanted to do in his immediate future and one of the things was that he wanted to tell his parents how much he loved them, how much they meant to him, etc.

I talked to him two days ago and he told me that he had done everything except talk to his family because he was "too busy." But that he was definitely going to do it "tomorrow," since he had a lot of time.

This morning I got a call that he was hit by a drunk driver a few hours after our talk... he didn't make it.

The main thing that really hit me was that he had things planned for "tomorrow," and that that day never came...

This happens MUCH more often than one would think... so really guys... as cliche as it sounds, live life to the fullest.

Never hold things off until "tomorrow" unless there is NO other way...

The last thing you want is to be using your last breath to say "I wish I had..."

Live your life so that when you are passing, you may say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my work."

Please :-/

Ali, that is so true, I can't tell you the number of times I wanted to say something to a friend and never got a chance too for some reason or another. I was always "going too".

Lisa, my other half, had an Aunt she dearly loved and was going to always tell her how much she loved her, it's kind of late now to do that...she was killed in a car wreck two days ago.

The same goes for about anything in life, there's always a reason to not do something, whether it's to tell someone you love them, or just to do something in business you need to get done. There's always an excuse for not doing it. Good news is, you won't have to worry about doing it someday, usually when it's too late, bad news is, it'll never get done and you'll always remember what you wanted to say or do but didn't.

    Hi Ali,

    Thanks for the great post.

Firstly I just wanted to say how sorry I am about you friend, and that I hope his family are doing OK and that you are as well.

Secondly I know exactly what you mean. Ive known about IM for a while now, but have been one of those people that more experienced marketers role their eyes about. I've hopped from one course to another, and often read the course then put it on the shelf because other things have got in the way.

I think for me its because its easy to do that. Its easy to stay in a job that your not keen on, its easy to come home and put your feet up rather than do some business stuff.

But if you dont make the effort, and act, then your situation wont change. (At least thats what I'm trying to tell myself!)

I think the same applies for every aspect of life really. Its easy not to do something. But who said achieving something good in any part of your life was easy.

I agree that this is a tragic tale and an object lesson for everybody.

It could also be a call to action for IMers to get their acts together and stop reading 'how to' books about life in general and start living their own life in particular.

Everywhere I look there is som so-called expert who is going to tell you how you should be living your life.
    Set goals
    Be positive
    Manifest
    Network
    Plan
and so on and so on and so on ad bloody nauseam.

The moment you abdicate responsibility of even the smallest aspect of your life to the expertise (or b. s.) of somebody else, you stop learning from your own experience and start making mistakes that somebody else has initiated.

There is far too much erosion of our own sense of who we are because it is fashionable to sell and read books by people who do not know us but who tell us what to do.

They don't need to create cloned human beings, we seem to be becoming clones all by our selves.

An accident like this with anybody, anywhere, may occur at any time. And this may upset our life. To be consumed with worry about something subsequently what we didn't do, unfortunately is already late.

You may try to follw Thomas Huxley English naturalist who wrote something similar: "The most valuable attribute, which a man may acquire, the ability that he should do things, which he has to do, when in that direction there is need, even likes him even not!"

Thi is the principal law of the perfect man's life. But where are we, myself included, from the perfect one?

Well, we all of us aren't perfect. But we have to aim for this in our whole life.

      Thanks for this great thread,

Writing a letter to your parents and sitting with them one on one and then reading the letter to them may work for folks who find it hard talking to them and telling them how you feel and thanking them for everything they have done for you over the years.

Worked for me...and they will want to keep the letter..!!

I am so sorry about your friend. My pastor and his wife wrote a book about this exact subject. It is all about how to live a no regrets life because you never know when your day will be. He always talks about the "someday" syndrome that most of live with. I will get to that someday when I have time. I wrote a review about it if you want to take a look.

    Hey guys,

I just woke up and I am glad that people here said it did impact them... I was actually a bit afraid that warriors may have gotten offended, etc. by the post... I'm glad that didn't happen.

I know that my friend didnt want to do anything IM related, but at the same time, the principle DOES have the power to impact your life... Do as much as you can, every day... Life is too short.

You story moved me because I relate to your friend, I'm the type of guy that always says "I'm too busy" for practically everything... but I have to hand it to you, after reading the story you shared... I gave my mom a big hug :-)!

In a way, I am a lucky one here today. I knew the end was near for both my parents and I got to tell them how much I loved them. I used to think how cruel life had been to me. Life had made watch not one but both my parents die of cancer.

It is only now that I have come to realize that life was not cruel to me but generous. I was blessed to be able to do the things and say the things that really mattered in the end. I have no regrets now. Not many can say that. I think about all those people who have an argument right before leaving the house and they never return. What regret must be in the surviving partners heart after that. This article has made me realize my blessings and stop seeing them as a curse.

Thank you for sharing this. You have given me a new outlook on life.

No problem man... It really did have an impact on me too.

Like I said, I normally try to live life in that mindset... but this REALLY put it in perspective for me... There is no certainty... ever.

I don't want to go down to the dark river of death and say that I haven't finished my work...

      M&M,
I'm sorry to hear of your friend's passing.
Yes, it will probably mean a lot to his family if you tell them what he said.

Your post also reminds me of the sig file I used to have here:

Your thread has an eerie sense to it. At first, I thought you started it after reading the recent news of a Warrior's death but I just checked the dates of each thread. You started yours on the 4th and the other began on the 6th. In that thread, he had put off organizing his business, and then he died suddenly on the 6th, making it difficult for his family and friends to figure things out. It was something he meant to do but didn't get around to it.

It's a strong message to all of us.

If you cant see how much this thread can affect your "internet marketing," then that is on you.

If you aren't going to contribute anything to the growth and success of your fellow warriors, rethink why you are here.
