multiple online identities: How do you keep them organized?

Say if you created a few different niche targeted websites with some content. then you go register at forums to get involved with the target audience. How do you handle & organize the multiple usernames/passwords for each identity?

I can see the number of identities adding up pretty fast as the number of campaigns increase.

I would assume that the usernames for your profiles would need to seem somewhat genuine. If a forum mod saw a keyword or url username they would probably ban you fast knowing your intent.

example from google image search.

I have a spread sheet I keep them all on and I usually hit my main money sites a few times a day and my secondary sites 2-3 times a week

Some plan B (or is that plan E?F?G?) I only hit once a month or so just to keep tabs on them

A spreadsheet usually does the trick, along with keeping consistent usernames/passwords for each identity. So if you were going into a niche as "Po Stobinson" keep the username PoStobinson1234 as often as possible and the password bananahammock.

I find that "bananahammock" is a very useful password.

I'd go with a spreadsheet to just keep track of the usernames and passwords. It's pretty much all I would need to get into all the sites. Well, that and the address of each site.

It's a challenge. I use LastPass so that helps with the passwords but keeping my profiles and avatars straight is sometimes tricky.

thanks. I'll use excell or google spreadsheet for this. Oh, and avatars, I wasn't even thinking about those. I'm guessing a separate spreadsheet for each moneysite, and have all associated personalities on that spreadsheet

I wonder how many private proxies I'd burn scraping for "Password: bananahammock" ? haha

Aussie_AL: I'd be interested if you could point me in the right direction on how to prioritize the "plan b, c, d" type sites. Other than the money site, I'm curious on how I could know which deserve more and which deserve less attention.

I use roboform professional. I love it. Been using it since the last year.

Also you can have your info saved online too (If you want) and that way you can have your passwords anywhere you go.

1Password is an excellent organiser for Profiles and User/Password information.

You can also synchronise all information with your smartphone.

All information is encrypted at all times.
You can backup and restore the data if needed.

Use it for many years now and love it.

  • Being on a tight budget and only juggling 2 or 3 projects right now, I've been using Roboform(30 day free trial) and starting different user accounts in Windows. each windows account is only for that project, and I can keep 20 tabs open in that browser if I need to, and/or I bookmark each site I need so I can find it easily.
