Is it possible to use Fiverr to promote your website?

Hey there!
I have a new website (flippmate.com) and I was wondering if Fiverr has any useful gigs to help promote the site, or even if it's a good idea?
I think lots of people have the same problem, you build a site and are not sure how to get any traffic, fans or followers. I mean how does a regular joe get any visits whatsoever? Fiverr might be an answer although I think you have to weed through the trash to find the gems. Has anyone had any positive experience with fiverr and what kind of gigs did they buy? I think we can all agree that traffic or backlinks for a fiverr are probably not such a great deal. Would love to hear what anyone thinks.

I have a couple of gigs on fiverr where people can pay me $5 to have their guest post published (good standard only accepted) or they can have a link published on my blogroll for 3 months. My blog is PR3 in the pet niche and it has been quite successful so far

how can you make your site popular with fiverr? With the help of seo you can make your website popular.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6435044].message }}
    • Sorry to have to point this out, but many believe Google deprecates blogroll links, especially if they're a mishmash of topics and keywords that aren't relevant to the main focus of the blog. Say you have a blog about making crafts and your blogroll links are to get-ripped-abs, stop smoking and online gambling sites.

Sure, you can promote your site using Fiverr but it's no longer as easy as it once was. There are traps and deadfalls everywhere. I've bought a number of blog post placements (link with anchor text surrounded with relevant content) and those have been very effective in the past. However, Fiverr bloggers have learned how to fake page rank, so you really need to check out the blog before buying. If the blogger won't give you the URL, pass.

And obviously, as you point out, you want to be extremely careful about buying backlinks.

I agree with you there Fluff for sure, if they don't want to share the URL then you know something must be wrong! But I still think that there must be a few good things you can use fiverr for in ways of promotion. For example I think if you calculate how long you need to do article submissions then fiverr might have some useful gigs! 15 article submissions done manually for $5 sounds like a time saver to me. But what else could anyone use that is useful?

Thanks Fluffy I would't have even thought of Fiverr bloogers faking page rank. I am far too trusting (or naiive). I willc ertainly be checking that out in future.
I've had some positive results around backlinking and getting indexed with social media gigs.

    Hello dear friend,
fiverr is a good thing but I'm not sure to get you a targeted traffic? The best traffic is a paid one but there I would advertise your sqeeze page and then send an e-mail to your list with product or website you want to promote. I hope this will help. E.

Are you looking to buy SEO type stuff on fiverr?

If you are I recommend that you stay away from the hard-to-keep promises that sound too good to be true.

I've used fiverr gigs in the past to help boost my site with some good success, you just have to find the good from the bad.

You can buy backlinks just becareful.

ehhh, I'd stay away from SEO stuff on there right now... I actually regret a lot of the stuff I've bought on there because after this last update, its definitely hurt me.

instead I would use the more creative stuff on there like people making YouTube videos to promote your site.

note: if you ever buy a video gig on Twitter.... make sure they can improvise to get your point across...

if they follow an exact script, their eyes follow the text and it sounds sooo scripted...

yes sell something cheap with great value, then upsell these customers to bigger and better things.

...People are on fiverr for a reason. It might not be the best traffic, but try it out. Look what others are doing.

15 article submissions wouldn't exactly be a goal but it is a time saver in my opinion. I've also found some great article writers on Fiverr as well. Personally I use Fiverr for
    Article Writing
    Article Spinning
    Article Submission

That's all I've ever tried because I don't trust anyone to do my SEO for me, it seems just to dangerous to give your business to someone else to promote. If you're not careful it can all go wrong for a fiverr as well!

What kind of other gigs do you think are trust worthy and cannot harm your blog/site?

I think it's quite a big decision in the long run because what might work now might harm you later.

Ooops sorry now I understand. I always get articles written for my niche sites and I submit them. Why, because the world told me I need to! Only joking, for the backlinks of course, google seems to like article directories still... I have lots of niche sites so getting backlinks can sometimes be quite difficult.

Sure a good video can help promote your product once in YT and labeled correctly etc, I've never looked but I can't imagine what kinda video you can get for a handful of dollars?

    • It's not hard to get a fantastic video on Fiverr. There are probably hundreds of people who will do a great job for you.

What's tough, in my experience, is getting YT views. I have about 60 videos in my channel, most made on Fiverr, most about a year old and they don't even have 300 views. Yes, I optimize the heck out of tags. I look at other peoples' channels and see similar results.

I won't say I don't get *any* traffic from YT, but to give you an example:

Yesterday, I posted a comment to a popular IM guru's blog. As of this moment, I've gotten more traffic from that one comment than I have in an entire year of having YT videos up. And my comment wasn't even about IM.

Great point stated but if you sell one product from 300 views and your winnings cover the price of the product and still leave you with a profit then in my eyes it's still worth it. The video wont disappear and might bring you another 300 views and a few sales every now and then for years to come.

As for fiverr having cool product video gigs, I didn't even know that.

I have thought about product voice overs though, lots of those sound really good and I'm sure they can help you get visitors once if you have a nice product video as well and they also can't harm your SEO which is my main thought.

While there are certainly still some gems on Fiverr, I think the site has largely taken a downturn. I've ordered some site promotion & SEO gigs from there in the past, and while some worked great, they won't work so well after the latest Google updates.

If you are going to spend money on promotion of your site, I think you would be better served spending your money on a quality press release, and use a credibly service to syndicate that PR.

for $5, you tend to "get what you pay for," which isn't much.

I don't suggest buying any type of backlinks from Fiverr. Most of the services will do nothing but hurt your site. I actually have heard of people buying some of the backlink blast services (SENuke, Xrumer, Scrapebox) and using them for negative SEO on competitors.

Fiverr will delete your user if you will try to promote your website with links and try to direct your buyers to your website so be careful!
Beside that what you need is a good SEO Company that will bring traffic to your website.
Do not buy SEO Stuff from fiverr what you think that will happen to your website if you will buy stuff for $5?
We have couple of friends that their website got flagged in Google and because of fiverr products.
    So again be careful!

I believe SEO wise using Fiverr is not such a good idea, as there are plenty of useless gigs there that do more harm than good. However, there are some pretty good Facebook related gigs that offer real Facebook fans, as well as some gigs that offer tweets to huge lists of followers. Your choice!

I don't think it will be long before people attempt to advertise their product or affiliate product on TV. I think fiverr already lets you order a gig where you can advertise on small time radio stations.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6443852].message }}
  • As many others said, also I have a gig on Fiverr where I post reviews of internet marketing releases on my PR3 blog.

Nowadays on Fiverr you could buy some social Likes, Tweets and G+'s, because it's more important the social than SEO for Google. I discourage buying backlinks, because for $4 they are pretty useless and done with automated software (Scrapebox and so on).

Or more, you could get some videos to put on Youtube, articles and press releases to submit for fast traffic, and more.

So it's better to build a "connected traffic", pointing versus websites with the same topic and trying to collaborate all together.

    See you,
    Alessandro

Yes flippmate.com is still in the making and I plan on making a large site so I still have a long way to go! I basically want to offer turnkey websites that my existing customers and a few others can take to the next level or simply sell on Flippa. I want to keep this really limited just to 50 people or so at the moment not that everyone fills up flippa with the same websites. My websites sell on average for over $300 which is pretty good for turnkey sites. On top of that I would like to just offer as much info and help for newbies as I can because for some reason they always seem to get scammed in the beginning, which is uncool! As for the selling part, I dont really want to make that the main thing just yet till I've worked with a few members and know how to help them make maximal profit. But yes you're completely right and I'd love to hear some feedback once it's finished!

I don't know about fans but I've ordered Tweets before from multiple users and I can only speak from my own experience of course and say FORGET IT!
I bought a gig for a tweet to one million users and 4 retweets...

I didn't get one single visit!

With the same tweet I tweeted my list which is small and got loads of sign ups.

I bought a few others as well and it's basically clear that when your tweet is getting sent out with 20 other tweets in the same minute that nothing is going to happen.

Fiverr can be very useful I think it's more important to work out a plan of attack and how you're going to promote your business before you start purchasing fiverr gigs because running around aimlessly buying gigs is not really going to help you.

You need to focus on the task that need doing and then finding the best people to outsource this to if you do that fiverr is a great tool to have in your Arsenal.

Exactly, that is my advice as well. There are loads of cool gigs you really can buy that will help you promote your site on Fiverr and having a plan is definitely better than having no plan simply because I've never seen anything work without a plan! No plan, no business.
But still what do you think the best gigs are?

I bought some gigs from fiverr and it worked for my site.

For example, you can see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H22KU4Yqnvw
which I bought from them, although it is not more effective as i expected but it also gave me a litte traffic from youtube when some people viewed the video.

The problem with Fiverr is that there are too many people who over-promise but don't deliver results. So, for anyone looking for gigs on Fiverr to promote their site, try to stay away from the ones too good to be true! Don't buy fake likes or fake followers, don't buy SEO gigs that promise you first place in Google for $5... all in all, just try to separate the good gigs from the scammers.

Yes. Thats the short answer anyway. I'm going to come back and explain properly later for you but here is just two ideas off the top of my head:

    1) Write a report on X subject that your website is about. In the footer of every page of your report have a link to your site. Also offer extra info free of charge on your site if they click through the link.

    2) 'Upsell' now you aren't actually selling anything but lets just say you have a service you offer on fiverr, once someone buys your gig in the 'lets get started' section have a link to a squeeze page or your own website or whatever you want peoples eyes to see and tell them they get an upgrade on the service they bought on Fiverr if they join the mailing list or view whatever you want them to view.

There really is 100 ways to promote whatever you want to promote on any marketing stream, you just have to find what works best for you.

EDIT: I am talking about you actually having a gig on Fiverr not using other peoples.

If you want to increase your site traffic, you must do the SEO, without SEO, there is no alternative way. If you can do the SEO by yourself, you can do. If you can hire freelancer, when you have no enough time to do the work. I know there are many freelancer, who are working in these fields. You can hire them, they will create back link by doing Forum posting, blog commenting, article submission, book marking, rss or others way. By which, you site traffic increase & also your Page rank will increase. Thanks

I ran a case study that I've since lost comparing Fiverr gigs for backlinking and the traffic that it's generated. All though my spreadsheet has gone to the great garbage dump in the sky (Staten Island with my old laptop) it basically came down to yes and no.

4 of the gigs resulted in zero added visitors and only a handful of clicks on the links themselves.
2 of the gigs resulted in dozens of clicks and new visitors. Adding an average of 20-30 unique visitors to my blog a day.

I believe the winners were manual submission (link pyramids) to related niche forums/EDU do follows.

Anyone who says they'll do "safe" backlinking of 20+ links by manual submission for $5 is lying.
