The New Trick In Town

I opened an email today, clicked on the link inside and startd reading the sales letter. I went back to my emails, but kept thinking about the product that I had just read about.

So I went to the email I had just read, clicked the link and what do you know, a different product came up.

What is this and where can I get it? Great idea.

Anybody know about it?

Thanks

Didn't know that was possible, maybe they have it routed through something where the clicks automatically split test between two products?

It's nothing "new" at all. This has been done by marketers for years using javascript, cgi, or php that rotates through a list of urls. You may find the method being used just by examining the website source code.

as myob says, its probably some sort of script, you can view it when you go to your browser's menu and select "View Page Source", that should give you the source code for the page.

i have firefox so that action is located under the "Web Developer" menu.

Like Paul (the "other" Paul) says, it's a common thing. Any URL rotator or split-testing script will let you do that. The good ones make sure any given person only ever sees one URL, though.

Assuming the products are on the same topic, it's a good way to see which has the highest EPC. You'll want to be very careful about how you word the email, though.

WOW...clicked it a total of 8 times and got a different product everytime. I dont ever recall seeing this, but I dont make a habit of double clicking on an email unless I might considering purchasing it.

I'm going to check the source code and see what I find out.

      Thanks for the feedback.

You can easily setup this in Bevomedia,
like this link here setup to rotate 4 different search engines. Cloak and SSL your url.
