Free content will always be available popular on the internet. Use them to build your list, give them out on file sharing sites. The possiblities are plenty.

      PLR Content isn't FREE

I think that people forget the general use of PLR content and don't use it correctly. PLR content is just seed content, you use it as a starting point for your writing. You don't take the articles and post them as is. With that said I think that if PLR sellers educated people on how to use PRL content before making a sell then the PLR business would be more popular.

People are using this content incorrectly and are suffering for using that's why they stop purchasing.

PLR is still a powerful business model you just have to be unique in the way you sell plr content.

I agree with what you just said to a point. However when you try to educate the masses about the correct use of PLR only a very small percentage will take the time to learn it. My opinion only.

Very true, but you not looking to educate everyone just some and those people will later be called return customers. They use the content correctly, benefit from it and return for more.

Alot of PLR sellers I see just say here is the content have fun. Instead they should trying adding a video to there sales page showing people how to rewrite PLR content, I personally believe that would go a long way in educating customers.

          Thanks

Lately it seems like the popularity of PLR has been droppings (especially after the Penguin update). This isn't really a matter of the quality of PLR, it is just as good (or bad in the case of some people) as it always was. People tend not to utilize PLR the right way though, and just throwing it up on your site as is and calling it a day is a pretty safe way to get your site slapped down by Google.

If you know how to correctly use PLR though, it can be and is very effective.

Well I still have subscribers that use it. Some very effectively and some just throw it up without rewriting it.

Good PLR can make a great research tool and lead to someone putting together a really good short report.

I have PLR members that have been with me for more than 3 years and I suspect will remain with me for the foreseeable future.

Of course, PLR eBooks/ articles are still popular...

Just look at the WSO Forum. There's always new PLR WSOs that launched every two days. And the PLR is still sold well on WSO Forum. I believe there's still a market for PLR contents.

PLR will always be useful since it saves you time compared to having to write on something from scratch.

The key is in rewriting PLR content so that it's unique on your website or article submissions for it to be effective today.

Some very very useful comments there. I am looking to put together some PLR packages based around the latest news subjects as well as a mixture of traditional PLR packages which are "timeless" rather than time critical. The key would be to get the time critical packages out before the subject matter is history.

    Would this work?

Certainly, it's a great idea to have both flavors of packages to offer: the 'time-sensitive' and the 'timeless'. That way, you are diversifying with having both the hottest, recent topics, alongside the more stable, tried and true topics. More variety, more choice for your customers too.

Webbizgold - thanks for your comments.

I presume a simple paypal button next to each package, taking you to the download page after you have paid, would be the way ahead?

The short answer is yes, they are still popular. PLR is commonly seen in the WSO section for sale and lots of members and regular posters here have PLR stores and make regular sales.

I'd say that PLR is actually more popular than ever. With all the Google updates, the emphasis is on adding consistent, quality content on a regular basis. High quality PLR provides a rough draft of content that makes it far easier to produce unique content.

Sound like a contradiction? Well, think about it this way. Why would you keep reinventing something from scratch when someone has already created a framework you can use that will save you time? With PLR, somebody else has done the research and created something you can work from. In many cases, the PLR you buy will seem like a finished product. However, that just makes it even easier to add your own custom touches to make it unique. Add examples, screenshots, audio and video versions, mix and match with other PLR, etc. The options are endless.

Obviously I'm a big proponent of PLR. But I only buy from the best sources, so I know I have something top notch to work from. That's the key.

  • PLR is a way to build potential content for a site or and email list, however if you write your own stuff then its going to be more valuable.

And editing PLR content to make it worth something is time consuming. Its is a skill in of itself.

I use plr with a light spin for pages that am not reallly trying to seo. Like a site I would drive traffic exchange, or other paid traffic that am driving to my main sites...as along as its good plr. Or a email list artical. I would just break up the artical in small parts and drip it. Am not talking those 120,000 artical packes....either most, if not all are many years old and suck!. Just try to use some quality PLR and it has its place.

Yes PLR is still popular, although selling them is not necessarily easy (don't believe the hype!), it is certainly possible.

Selling PLR never was "easy". That's just a delusion that a lot of people created in their own heads. They saw how much the good PLR writers were selling and said "hey, if they're doing it then I can too!" Enough people had that train of thought that the market was flooded with absolute crap.

It's become so saturated that the good PLR sellers have to resort to ridiculous prices just to survive. People can't even remember what good PLR is anymore, there are that many bad sellers. Of course, that can be said for content production in general when it comes to online business and the IM niche. It'll clear itself out eventually, after enough Google updates and burnouts by less than qualified PLR writers.

The big problem with PLR (still) is that 90% of it is pretty low in quality. It's written by people who really don't know a whole lot about the topic. That being said, good PLR articles that are properly rewritten to make them unique can be extremely helpful in some cases.

You have to be creative in order to sell PLR for a good price. If you're giving it away there will always be takers.
