  • I use Pinterest each and every day for posting images who link somewhere to my websites.
Tumblr instead... well this is like a blogging system. So you can use to open a blog to keep updated.

They are two different services, and they are awesome.
If I have to choose one, I choose Pinterest because I got yet good results.

    See you soon,
    Alessandro

Is it really that simple ( by posting a photo that links back to your site) to use Pinterest or Tumblr for promoting your website? Is it better to get an "invite" or just signup directly with Pinterest.

Pinterest lets you create visually dense pages populated by bookmarks according to category. The result is similar to mood boards, which are large image collages used by people in creative industries, but with the added bonus that each image is linked to its source.
Tumblr is essentially a blogging service. They offer some layouts that mimic the visual mood board style of Pinterest, but images aren't automatically linked to its source, you can't see all the entries on one page, and you'd have to create a new blog for each new category of images. Entries on FFFFound! are lone entities under which similar images are suggested.
