How to Create & Grow an Authority Site from Scratch

I am about to hire a fulltime Virtual Assistant, who's task will be to help me build and grow an authority site from scratch, both in content and traffic. The site will have a forum and the CMS will most likely be WordPress, unless you recommend a better solution.

For regular forum posting, I will be paying various people to post, although that does not mean the VA can also do some forum posting.

Given the above, what specific tasks would you delegate to this Virtual Assistant?

    Maybe you should train your VA in the new wonder-drug known as "Curation".

    He/she could be doing all the industry news stuff while your writers supply the unique viewpoints for everone else to nick

    As someone who has already build an authority site, I think I can offer you some good advice. By the way, Wordpress is a very good choice, as would be Joomla and/or Drupal.

    So here's my advice:

    1. Be a leader; not a follower.
    2. Forge relationships with other leaders in your field.
    3. Be more focused on quality than quantity.
    4. Create a 'win-win' offer of some kind to get others contributing for you.
    5. Get a proper business plan together.
    6. Remember what Zig said.

      Its communication that makes all the difference. Explain all your requirements and let the VA understand your expectations. Check out few sample works and only then hire them

    One word: CONTENT

    Have your VA writing full time. If you want to grow an authority site, content is the most valuable element.

    Shoot for 800+ word articles, aim for multiple articles published daily. Lots of images, videos, news jacking, content curation.

    The SEO/traffic generation stuff will be a breeze if you have a steady flow of superb content every day.

      Do all this right here and for best SEO practices make sure you silo structure your site and build links to your top tiers.
