Any YouTube marketing tips please?

Hi everyone

I've been thinking about expanding my horizons a bit and doing some video work, especially after realizing how easy it is with iMovie.

I've been thinking about making some Clickbank product reviews/spotlights, and using a TinyURL link in the description, but please let me know if that's a bad idea for whatever reason!

Anyway, I would love any tips anyone has to offer, as I'm not sure even where to start. I guess I'll fire ahead with some thoughts and questions!
______

What is YouTubes attitude towards people marketing on YouTube?
(marketing one site, multiple products, affiliate links, cloaked links, etc)

Does putting a lot of videos up draw attention to yourself?
How many videos can someone put up on YouTube without getting in trouble?

Do people tend to use multiple accounts?

Is YouTube most effective at promoting products or do people use it more as a traffic funnel?

Do videos with higher views receive higher rankings?

Thanks!!

Make sure that you don't go and describe your product first, try to come with something funny or something to get the user attention, then talk about the product that you wish to promote.

This way you will generate more sales and possible more subscribers.

I've done this for Amazon affiliate links and bit.ly and never had a problem.

I haven't gone and checked this detail myself, but I have seen others suggest that YouTube's TOS don't allow you to use affiliate links in your description area.

I would go check the TOS myself if I wanted to do this. I always link to my own sites within my videos, so I have not had the need to check.

BUT if I were going to use an affiliate link (and validated that it's allowed) I would never trust a third party free service. I would buy a domain and create redirects. It's way more reliable.

I read YouTube's TOS today and it isn't 100% clear about putting video up that promote other products, unless I missed it.

I know Godaddy has a feature that lets you forward a domain and a sub-domain quite easily.

    Hey,

Youtube video marketing right on! I definitely have experience in this arena.

    To answer your questions:

What is YouTubes attitude towards people marketing on YouTube?
(marketing one site, multiple products, affiliate links, cloaked links, etc)

Nothing really. Go ahead and create affiliate videos but just make sure you have one channel per market that you enter. Don't have one channel where you have review videos for like 300 different products all in a different market (I learned this the hard way i.e. flagged )

Does putting a lot of videos up draw attention to yourself?
How many videos can someone put up on YouTube without getting in trouble?

No you should be okay if you have a separate account for each market you enter. Don't just have review videos though. Offer some relevant content.

Do people tend to use multiple accounts?

    Yes

Is YouTube most effective at promoting products or do people use it more as a traffic funnel?

You can do both. You can promote really anything you want. I've had success direct linking to a salespage but linking to a relevant squeeze page offer is a smart move too.

Do videos with higher views receive higher rankings?

In Youtube's search results but not really in Google's search results.

      Hi,
good idea is to add some views and likes to your video.
There is a lot of free networks where you can do it quick. Or just use Fiverr.com
I bouthe there 1300 views and 100 likes for my You tube video.
You WILL NOT HAVE business from this views, right?

But it will help you get attention from real people interested in your product or service.
A lot of views always means that this content is something interesting. And real people are more likely to stop and watch it.

It has been tested and it works.
      Free network is here: u2bviews . c o m
      Hope it will help you.

You Tube has been shutting down people in the make money online niche. Even big gurus. You Tube videos should either be informative or entertainment but not just all selling.

Does putting a lot of videos up draw attention to yourself?

If you are trying to deceive people then yes. If you are making entertainment videos or info videos then no. You can make hundreds to thousands.

How many videos can someone put up on YouTube without getting in trouble?

As many as you want. There is no limit. There are channels that have thousands of videos.

Do people tend to use multiple accounts?

People do have multiple accounts for multiple purposes.

Is YouTube most effective at promoting products or do people use it more as a traffic funnel?

Most people use it as traffic funnel or for branding.

Do videos with higher views receive higher rankings?

Yes videos with higher views recieve higher rankings. It also depends on interaction like the comments, the amount of likes, subscribers, etc

I've been making sales and driving traffic with youtube for a couple years now. Affiliate links are no problem - be sure to put your link first in the description so it will show without clicking the "show more" button. I have made many direct sales by doing screen capture videos of clickbank pitch pages and direct linking.

If you use a short url service be sure to test your links first. Both bitly and Goo.gl are throwing up warning pages on certain niches and sites. It looks really bad and makes you look like a spammer or worse. The idea mentioned above about redirects might be sound advice.

Other youtube tips: A good keyword rich title ALL IN CAPS! I'm fond of the hyphenated title ie. "Video Marketing - Learn Video Marketing" It let's you use your keyword twice.

An original description is very important, think mini article, 250 words or more.

Tags, all the relevant tags you can find. Put multi-word tags in quotes "like this"

Share it on FB G+1 etc.

Marketing on Youtube is fine. It is how Youtube and all of it's advertisers make money. However, you may be waving a red flag from the get go if all you do is load up on affiliate links. As for cloaked links, I wouldn't try anything black-hat on Youtube because all it takes is 3 community warnings and your channel is poof! Up in smoke.

    I would certainly hope so.

To my knowledge, there is no limit whatsoever. It's not the volume of content that will get your channel in trouble.

Yes, especially for different niches. Makes sense to do so and Youtube pretty much suggests that in their own "partner" marketing tips.

There are millions of videos and advertisements doing either or both. It really depends on how compelling your CTA is to be deemed effective. I for one prefer to use Youtube as a lead capture for list building.

Originally Posted by condra View Post

It is only one of the ranking factors, and like Google itself we just don't know how effective that is. However, you can find a boat-load of services that sell video views and they WILL tell you it does matter.

Originally Posted by condra View Post

I would just stay away from reviews and clickbank products altogether.

The major reason being there is a lot of competition for reviews already, and if not done under YT guidelines, your channel could be easily red-flagged and you know... up in smoke, on a cloudy Sunday morning.

Honestly video reviews tend to be boring, lame and really just lack credibility because there is always a CTA with an affiliate link with it. Anybody can say anything on a video, so why should I trust you if this is the first time I have seen anything from you?

Now, it's okay to make review videos, but offer them to your LIST only you have built a relationship with them. In other words, use Youtube to build your credibility in a niche and get a following. Then send out recommendations via auto responder at a later date. Your chance of turning a sale that way is significantly more measurable.

For example. Let's say you want to sell Rocket German from ClickBank. Well an angle for this might be to put up a series of Youtube videos that have travel tips for Germany. You can make a lot of Keynote (err... that's PowerPoint for those of you still using PCs) and screenflow videos showing some really great deals, places to see, and tips on money and euros.

Ahhh... now you have an audience that is likely travelling to Germany for the first time. You can capture them with an offer for a free email series titled "The 11 Best Tours to Take While Vacationing in Germany".

Now cleverly interwoven with those helpful email tips are additional emails, saying something like,

    ----------

"Hey it's Condra here again. Since you are travelling to Germany soon, you might want to check out Rocket German before you go.

When I travelled to Germany I took this couse myself and let me tell you, it MADE our vacation there the best we've ever had. I made a video review for you here and since I am personally very familiar with the product I can highly recommend it.

The video is only 3 minutes long, but at the end there is a free trial offer that I strongly suggest you grab right now, because even those first few German lessons will be a BIG help!"

    ---------

So A) You've built trust as a reliable source and a go to channel on Youtube for travel tips to Germany.

    B) You have a lead capture and auto-responder system working for you on auto-pilot.

    C) You send out additional videos/reviews that can be of value to them and that is when you use your affiliate links.

Also, since you mentioned iMovie, so since you are on a Mac, I would look at Screenflow for creating some spankin' cool Youtube videos.
