facebook landing pages

What happened with facebook landing pages? I watched a video on facebook advertising tactics, the guy shows how he's used facebook through the old style landing page format. I even did a google search for "best facebook landing page" here. They all look great in preview, but I clicked the links and all of them use timeline now. Can timeline convert if you're running a campaign for a local service and want to acquire customers through lead capture.?

Also how do you charge clients for facebook advertising. In Adwords you work directrly through the clients account and they get billed directly by Adwords for ad spent. In facebook is there such a system?

From what I know you can't undo the Timeline - and that is the default tab for your page now, you can't have other tabs as landing tabs anymore.

As for Facebook Advertising - the client sets up the billing details under his profile and adds you as an admin to the page you what to promote. As an admin you must have at least "Advertiser" role in order to be able to create/modify ads and view insights.

This way you can manage the ads and he pays for the advertising directly to facebook.

As far as I can see Facebook do not allow marketers to set custom landing pages any more. You can still create custom pages but they cannot be designated as the landing page. This change sucks big-time.

So is it worth landing visitors onto the timeline or is it better to get visitors onto your website? I heard that landing visitors to your website is more expensive. How much is it?

Sending visitors to just your website can be more expensive if you consider that you may not have a way to capture those visitors. Sending them to a facebook page may induce them into liking the page and therefore being able to market to them repeatedly. There is no set cost, it depends on your targeting, whether you choose CPC or CPM, and how effective your ad is; the higher the CTR the cheaper it is.

Landing pages are gone, this is true. However, if you learn how to use your app space, which is next to the photos at the top right, and effectively use the pinning and highlighting of posts, you should be able to encourage actions such as liking or clicking a link. There is plenty of into out there on doing this.

It appears that you are unfamiliar with Facebook, maybe. I would encourage you to start using it more often if you plan to use it as a marketing platform. Look up some other fanpages you would be interested in or you know are successful. Notice what they are doing and learn from proven systems.

Timeline cannot be converted! If you are running a campaign, you can definitely choose a default landing page. I love the way it used to be but hey, good marketers must adapt to changes as they come

You can just forget it , once you in timeline, they are no others way to allow you reverse back to the old facebook fan page. FBML is going to be dead and here go iframe .
It better you get use with timeline and learn how to make a good fan page with timeline. Forget the old methods which is not useful anymore .

Facebook has changed their tactics since then
      1. Use iframes dimensions 810px
      2. Fanpages have timelines
      3. Custom tabs 111px
      4. scheduling posts and so much more

    Hello again.

Thanks for the tips guys. I did not know about the feature at all until now, so glad I posted.

I have created the "app" and it's displaying fine.

However can you guys fill me in a little bit more about "App Center", do I need to get listed on app center? I visited the fan page and then clicked on the new iframe app, the first time I visited it gave me the warning message in the yellow box saying this app is unlisted on app center.

The message has since dissapeared. But I'm wondering, would ordinary visitors see that warning message the first time they visit? Or was the warning just for me, the "app creator"?

Also, can I carry on now, promoting the fan page without the "app center" submission?
    thanks
