Hi I have put up my website and am getting about 1220 visitors a month and have adsense (I like adsense) but I want to add Amazon, but I am based in the UK and have a UK affiliate ID.

80% of my traffic comes from the USA and I understand that they will be re-directed to the USA site and I will not get any commission? is this true.

If this is true - how do I get around the problem?

Thanks

For your help

    I think this will work:

Go to the Amazon Associates home page.

Look in the top right corner. There should be a dropdown box that says, "Select Locale."

Click that, and then choose the locale you want to use. You will have to register in that locale.

After that, if you sign in with that log in ID and that locale, your tracking code should work and you should get paid.

Yes you need to use a different amazon ID for US and all the other countries too. Mean isn't.

However you can get around this by using a plugin that will detect the IP location of any visitor to your site and automatically use that countries amazon ID that you have inputed into the plugin settings.

There is a paid version but I actually got a refund on it and use a free plugin - I found it better and it works great. I am also in the UK by the way.

The plugin is found at WordPress › Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer « WordPress Plugins

You need to create an amazon account for US and any other countries you know you get traffic from and get your amazon ID. Then add that information into the settings.

Any countries that you leave blank the guy who produced the plugin will get a commission if someone from that country buys something - I dont mind its my way of saying thanks!

One thing to note - you can't use a link like "mywebsite.com/recommends/amazon" it needs to be the amazon link itself - theres instructions with the plugin anyway.

    Good luck.

Yes you need to apply to be an affiliate for each different country. I use a paid plug in that dishes up the appropriate Amazon link according to where my visitor is coming from. Works great.
It helps also to use something like Statcounter to see where your visitors are coming from then you can apply to those countries.

For amazon affiliate sites I use WPZon Builder. It does a nice job of posting. Also try using this plug-in:
    Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer
The plugin automatically changes your Amazon links to point to your visitor's local Amazon store whilst using your affiliate ID for that country
