new site advice

Hi all,

I have just brought a domain I want to fill with funny photos then have adsence on to make money.

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get content and quick?

I was thinking about using wordpress and then grabbing rss feeds from other sites and re posting?

Not sure what else I could do apart from manually of course.

    Hi Stoney,

    If you are looking for photo content then I think Flickr is very good. You can search for photos that are available to use under a CC (Creative Commons Attribution) licence and most of the original photographers are happy to let you use their images if you just send a quick email.

    I have some fantastic images from there on one of my horseracing sites

      I usually go to Flickr and find something I like and ask the owner if I can use it. You can also search for CC Photos or creative commons photos.

      We've been using royalty-free images from other sites until now.

    If you are willing to invest a bit of money you could get something like WP Robot which can easily pull in photos from Flickr based on keywords. Of course you still would need to do some editing for quality, but I'm sure it would save time.

    go to stumbleupon and in search bar type in "funny". you will find other sites that will set the bar for quality of site you need to build. If its in rotation quite often then it is a popular site on stumbleupon. use those sites as your templates. The more quality time you show it in design and content, the more popular it will be. Like a "funnyordie" site.

      Hey..this was actually my first plan when I first venture into IM years ago. Funny photos and adsense.
      I didn't give it much focus then so it was a flop back then...hehe.

      Hope you can make it big time like icanhascheezburger.com.
      It's a very successful funny photos website you can learn from.

    Flickr is good. Just check creative commons licensing before reusing. Funny photos alone are not enough to attract people to your site though. There is a great course out there from Chris Munch called Hook Pigeon. Not sure if it's still available but it's all about how to use funny photos, add captions and then turn them viral to get traffic back to your site. Very good course. Not sure if it's still available though.

    wp-robot will get you a lot of content fast. I have it, use it, and like it, but it's not my favorite way of bulking up content.
