Using Redirects to drive more traffic to your site. Newb Alert.

Instead of writing a wall of text about my idea, which I am sure has been thought of and brought up before somewhere alone the line. I've drawn all you guys a pretty picture...

Ok so who is looking at this idea and laughing uncontrollably at their computers?

Well here at my questions.

First, is this going to do anything? Or a waste of time?

The idea is to try and rank the side domains with low competition key words and use them keywords in the domain URL, to try get the side domains showing on the first page for these low keyword Google searches.

Second, will the side domains even rank?, or does google just ignore them because they have been redirected? How will Google treat these redirected domains if I am pumping them with PPC Google adds and back linking them?

3. Will Google frown apon me for structuring sites in this way, will my sites be penalized? The last thing I want to do is make Google mad.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts...

So in other words, you think this a good strategy?

Also I have just used the redirect option in my host gator pannel. Should I use proper php coding instead or is using the host gator cpanel option good enough?
