The only thing constant in life is changes.

There are tons of other products on amazon, there are tons of other affiliate companies you can choose from, you can also develop your product and promote it on place like eBay.

Thanks Gaz for disseminating this information!

It has always been a good idea to insert magazine promotion in relevant niche sites and now the higher commission justifies so :-).

Bad luck for those promoting industrial products I guess.

That is a major change to the small parts commission - on less than 10 days notice. Wouldn't be surprised to see that category also capped at a max commission.

I received the same email. Why people try to peddle Amazon and Adsense is beyond me. Pathetic Payouts. You put all your time and effort in promoting their products and are payed pennies. I imagine with these new changes some Affiliates will wake up and find green pastures.

I never put all my eggs in one basket. Keeping things diversified will help keep you afloat when places like Amazon change the rules. I'm feeling for those in industrial products, that is a substantial decrease in monthly income. I never really looked at their magazine section. I may take a look and see what it's all about.

I'm moving towards creating my own products and keeping 100% of the commission and focusing more on building up my email list. I am just tired of trying to keep up with all the changes.

One thing I know, with a strong list you can stand when Google and Amazon change the rules. They cannot take away customers you have built a relationship with.

Smallparts.com was a new site, and they said in the beginning that the higher commissions were to get it kickstarted. This is no surprise.

Magazine subscriptions also went up as much as 600%, but that doesn't make as good of a headline

it sucks mostly for those have put all of their eggs in the Amazon basket. In the end, this happens in every industry. You go to a new pizza store in town and the pizzas look like cakes because they're so thick and full of cheese and toppings. Once this place gets very popular then you'll notice the pizzas getting smaller with less cheese and toppings and eventually it'll look just like every other pizza place that you swore not to touch again.

I do agree with focusing on one thing and one thing only, unless it's something that I can't control and that can shut me down at any time. I don't control Amazon or its payouts so I would be wary when committing too much time and resources.

If, however, you've focused on one thing and that is affiliate marketing while using different income streams such as Clickbank, Commission Junction and Amazon, then you're in a much better place.
It's like a stock trader...even though they focus all of their effort on stocks, they trade more than one.

This might not apply to you and if it does then this is a wake-up call to expand within your chosen industry.

Come to think of it, even Amazon did it! They used to just sell books and now they sell everything. It's still an online marketplace and all they did was expand their product line. Simple yet genius.

Bad business move on Amazon's part, IMO. Whenever I've increased the commission rate on my own products, I've always made more profit overall, not less, simply because that's one of the things that attracts more affiliates. You would think that Amazon would understand how that works! Crazy.
