Thanks for your information on the topic. I'm a newbie feeling a bit overwhelmed. I want to get into affiliate marketing, and therefore starting a blog and writing articles seems to be the best way to go. The problem is... I'm not a writer!!! Lol. I'm researching PLR articles, and I feel that this is probably my best bet. Am I correct? If so could you please direct me to where I can find quality PLR articles? Or is there a better option out there? Any advice is truly appreciated. Thanks!!!

First, don't overwhelm yourself if you plan to be in this for the long haul. If you can write this forum post, you can definitely write for your money-making blog

You can search for plr content online using your niche + plr articles, niche + plr videos, niche + plr audios, niche + plr ebooks, etc.

To add to a few names to the post above yours, HeySal and Tina Golden. Be sure and check their signatures.

You can also check the Warriors for hire section as well as the WSO section. Make sure you do your due diligence in these sections, review their samples and feedback from customers.

Just remember, if you are going for rewrite PLR for content, try Ezine articles, Street article and Go articles, of course there are many more out their and they are all free! If you just want to rewrite then why pay to give yourself work??? Good PLR can be used in different ways. Just my opinion, I just don’t like to pay for more work!!!

Ok so as long as i can rewrite it into a good quality article it should be fine?

The thing is there are a lot of opinions on things like this so i never know what to take and what not to.

      Yes perfectly fine.

And it also is good to ask questions when you are in doubt, that's fine too.

Re-writing is fine. The problem is many people use plr "as-is" -- and that is why there is so much debate on when to use it. Unfortunately most plr is so poorly written, out of date, and flat out spammy. The only time I use it - is for inspiration. If I am out of ideas on a subject to write about plr definitely comes in handy.

That's why it is best to only purchase PLR from well distinguished writers that you know are excellent writers who provide value with their work.

Purchasing PLR should be all about getting the best value for your money. It is no different than choosing to shop at Bed, Bath and Beyond versus at a Dollar General store for bathroom towels, for instance.

I love that way of describing it! Sometimes PLR gets a bad rap because people have only seen the junk. I buy PLR from only the best, and it is extremely well-written.

That said, I still use it as my rough draft. It speeds up the process of writing a high quality, unique article by providing a foundation that's already been well-researched and written. I then add in other information and examples, reorganize to suit my own logic, take out things I don't agree with, combine with portions from other PLR, etc. I think you get the picture.

I also do more research of my own to make sure I haven't missed anything, to add additional information, or to add some up-to-date statistics.

Thank you for the compliment Sharyn! I'm sorry, but I used up all of my thanks late last night and haven't gotten them back yet.

Anyway, the procedure you just outlined is exactly how I have utilized the few PLR packs I have purchased. That procedure is perfect and should be a guideline for anyone using PLR.

I most commonly use it as research for my own articles myself, and know exactly who to buy it from. There are some excellent, reliable PLR authors right here in the forum and I do check their signature links regularly.

Would that not be syndicated content and not duplicate if the author was mentioned, even with PLR?

Re-writing PLR is a great idea, the high quality content sold by Tina Golden and Tiffany Dow is fantastic and it's an excellent starting point. But there are so many ways to re-purpose it. Make it into powerpoint presentations and use it on slideshare, make videos out of it, use it in email series... The are just so many ways to reuse PLR rather than just articles...

If something you read is of outstanding quality and you really enjoyed it and it helped you to take your business to the next level, then that is the kind of stuff to go with.

I always like the PLR that has quality throughout, is straight to the point and has no fluff attached to it.

If you liked it then I always say that someone else is probably going to appreciate it too.

Good luck with your future efforts!

If you use the article as your site content, then it is not good. If you post the article as post with your anchor text, then it is no problem. Its a matter of common sense, if posting PLR article harms any site, then every one would use this technique to outrun his competitor. So, its safe.

You most definitely want to rewrite your PLR content if you're posting it on your website. In no time, you'll be hiring your own writers to create unique content for your website.

Yes advised, and what people do with PLR - either re-write yourself or get someone else to do it.

One thing I've yet to see mentioned in this thread: make sure the rewritten articles clear Copyscape. There's always at least one numbskull who posts the PLR as is (there's something to be said for being first to market). Any good rewriting service will promise that their articles pass Copyscape, but I sometime have my doubts as to whether they check that themselves.

Also, be sure to personalize the rewritten articles. Infuse them with your personality and they'll be much more interesting to your readers. Hope this helps.

Sometimes you will find that if a PLR pack is recently released that there will be no other sites using it, which would I guess could be the one exception to the good advice of rewriting all PLR to make it original. You probably will still want to rewrite it some to get your "voice" in the article, but that depends on how you are marketing the site you are using the PLR on for content.

If you copy and paste a few sections of the PLR into Google you can see if you get any results to see if anyone else has used it "as is".

I'm not sure where you got your information from, but Panda was not all about destroying duplicate content, I'm afraid.

You do realize that duplicate content is the same content on a particular domain, right? And that the same article across various domains is known as syndication?

Without getting into this big debate about the myths and fallacies associated with duplicate content, remember that there are many, many ways to use PLR articles other than posting them on a site. When you get a little creative, the search engines become irrelevant.

Duplicate content is duplicate content, regardless of whether it's on the same domain.

Google's biggest issue with duplicate content isn't syndication. The big issue is scraping and republishing, article spinning and spamming, etc. Now THAT's duplicate content! If you don't think Panda (as well as Penguin) went after scrapers, spinners, and spammers, I suggest you need to do more research on the subject of Panda and Penguin. See also Google Webmaster Tools "love letters".

It's one of the main reasons Google emphasize the rel="author" attribute. See this YouTube video:
Google wants to know who is writing what. By annotating the web, one of their goals with annotation is to make it easier to know who is putting up a bunch of anonymous junk and who is putting up content so legitimate that they are willing to attach their names and identities to it.

This is kind of an annoying concept, in my opinion. It ultimately leads to a situation in which, instead of banning a particular website from various Google services forever (which is bad enough), they can destroy anything you as a person or company try to do for the rest of your life. Me no likey.

That's actually malicious duplicate content and/or copyright infringed content.

Quoted from Matt Cutts on Duplicate Content:
Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar. Mostly, this is not deceptive in origin. Examples of non-malicious duplicate content could include:...

However, in some cases, content is deliberately duplicated across domains in an attempt to manipulate search engine rankings or win more traffic. Deceptive practices like this can result in a poor user experience, when a visitor sees substantially the same content repeated within a set of search results...

In rare situations, our algorithm may select a URL from an external site that is hosting your content without your permission. If you believe that another site is duplicating your content in violation of copyright law, you may contact the site’s host to request removal. In addition, you can request that Google remove the infringing page from our search results by filing a request under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
I don't wish to argue with you over duplicate content as it has been an issue of arguments for years past and for years to come, I'm afraid, due to people's own interpretation of what is actually being stated, as well as issues of semantics.

So I amicably bow out of any debate and state that you are entitled to believe whatever you will, just as everybody else is. As well as I have no intentions of derailing this thread.

When I buy PLR, I buy it from quality sources (which usually means avoiding those 1,000 PLR articles for $0.50 type deals) and I use it as a starting point.

First up, you don't have to rewrite it to post it on your site. But I won't get into the duplicate content myth here. I think the key is adding value. Generally for me this means I DO rewrite PLR, usually to include some personal opinion or experience, or to keep it in line with my normal style of writing.

Secondly, if you think outside the box PLR can be an even better source of information. Do use it to fill your blog with content, but also think about other ways you can use it. For example, I created an email autoresponder based mainly on PLR, with my own personal opinions added in. People love this autoresponder and often email me about it. That's because it's well researched and well written. I did personalize it, but I didn't rewrite it completely. It saved me a huge amount of time.

I also like including PLR reports as bonuses. I have some amazing quality reports that could have been sold as products in their own right. I often include these as a bonus either as a freebie or to a paid product.

I also want to use some PLR to create videos on YouTube. Just condense the info and put it into a Powerpoint, and maybe speak over the top, and you've got a whole new way to convey useful information from PLR!

I hope this doesn't confuse things from the original post. But I wanted to show that you can use PLR for all kinds of content. This will make your site richer, and save you a lot of time.

PLR content has to be valued for the research because it is important to rewrite it. But it is also important to improve it - or at least make it pertinent to your own readership. They want to know about you - your stories, your experiences, and how the information has changed your own life. Use examples to make a point, case studies or information from other sources (such as your own reader base!) to infuse a greater depth to the content.

I would also consider that although the debate about duplicate content will not be finished here - it is the readers who you are targeting that do not want to see your site as duplicate content. Let's face it - when we search for any information we always click through several sites. When PLR is used 'as is', readers who find duplicate content across several sites will discount the sites themselves because more often than not the article is attributed to the writer of the site. This means that one article is attributed to several authors - THAT really creates a credibility problem for the authors of those sites.

Using PLR articles in my opinion is fine as long as you use it sparingly with unique articles. This way, your website will really be able to provide valuable content not only to your potential customers but to the eyes of search engines as well.

And yes, rewriting PLR articles is also a good idea if you are having difficulty coming up with your own unique content.

Quality PLR articles are one way to get content, for example, for your website, blog, e-mail tips and newsletter in a relatively less time. Re-write at least some parts of an article to give an insight into your own knowledge and experience on the topic to the readers. Add, images, graphs, animation and other, as applicable, to add value to your content.

PLR articles can be a great way to get your site/ blog up and running quickly. I also agree with most on here that rewriting them is best. Content is king though so you can't beat your own unique posts..... but in general they are fine to use, I have done it and will do it again.

Best is to rewrite otherwise your post will be like anybody else who hasn't bothered to rewrite. if you don't care about whether a search engine likes you post then you could perhaps choose not to rewrite.
