What I would do if I was you is to set up your squeeze page and drive some free traffic at it. Keep tweaking it around until you get a good conversion rate.

Once you are sure that your squeeze page is converting well, then drive some paid traffic at it.

The great question for me is...... how do i start driving free traffic? I've been looking around :
- article marketing
(Do i start doing research on my niche then start writing article to submit?)
- blogging
(Never done this before, but got some direction on how to start a blog with wordpress...so trying it now.)
- social network (FB,tweet,linkin etc)
(i just go start a group here & there?)

All help are greatly appreciated !!

Both methods should be used to drive constant traffics to your website.
Do reserve 'time-slots' in your daily activities to gain the momentum of traffic generation.

MagicMarcus hit it out of the park. Both free and paid strategies will build a quality list.

The paid strategies will grow your list fast but the free methods like blogging will build trust with your following provided you create quality content. Write helpful blog posts and articles and the list will grow!

Free method is ok but i got limited time frame as i'm new in this and was trying to earn an extra income.

Pay method on the other hand, i got some follow questions like:
1) what is the budget i should put in?
2) what kind of ratio should i distribute my pay traffic?

Yes, if you have a limited time frame you better to go with Solo Ads. Although it's quite expensive, but Solo Ads is the quickest way to build your list. You could get opt-in in short time.

To find good solo ads, you could look at here: Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory

You could budget for Solo Ads for around $70-$100.

Just a squeeze page may not rank well in google!? You have to do proper keyword research and look for exact keyword domains. do competition analysis. Post several seo optimized articles. If your site rank on first page in google then you can get free traffic. you can then collect the list.

The strategy is to use paid methods to grow your list to a considerable size. Once you build it up to that size, you can start using the free traffic methods.

The reason to use free methods, i feel, is not just because it is free, but also because subscribers obtained through free methods are higly responsive.

I have to agree with most of the people here. While using free methods can certainly work, it may take you a bit of time before you get the results that you want.

Ideally speaking you should really try to do both. But it really depends if you have both the time and the money for all of these methods.

While doing both is the obvious answer, the strategy should be to set a target and follow a plan to get you there with-in the time frame parameters you have.

Paid for methods are the quickest. Therefore, if the budget allows, it is the best first choice. Why? Simple, it will get you going right out of the gate. Solo ads are your best first choice. Adwords and other methods are a bit more complicated and you are likely to get the best results for the money with Solo ads.

Once you have a few hundred on your list you can begin doing swaps which will add to your list without more money coming out. At this point however, you should probably continue doing Solo ads until you have at least a 1000 or more on your list.

While you are doing Solo ads and swaps, continue doing all the "so called free" methods to drive more traffic and to build your brand and relationship with those who are now beginning to follow you and to add to your list with the "free traffic methods.

What budget? What is the maximum you can afford? Once you know this, set it aside for your budget and start slowly and test. Then once you see you are converting at a reasonable amount, throw as much at it as your budget allows until you reach your minimum target. Then reassess and set a new budget and target.

If you have at least $100, you can get started. If that is all you have, start with that. If you have more, set it aside as your budget, start with the minimum amount and test until your numbers are working and then put as much into it as your budget allows until you hit your first target.

Rinse and repeat and keep moving forward.

Solod ads are by far the fastest way to build your list and it's relatively inexpensive too like $3-4 per 1000 submissions. However, make sure you have something really valuable to offer your potential subscribers or the conversion rate will be low.

Some great advice from NetSensei and I agree wholeheartedly.

I might just add I use a mix and match approach and I employ a daily checklist that has all of the tasks I need to complete to make sure my list building is steady and continuous. So, make one blog post, socially bookmark it, add three quality blog comments on relevant blogs, put a you tube video up etc etc.

Once you get into the habit doing this takes very little time and ensures you do something positive for your business every day.
