What niches seem to continue to stay profitable?

Hey all,

I've been building and developing websites and my knowledge in various web languages for the past 8 years and as of the past 2 I've been more about the money but my sites are all based around selling ad space and text links for the most part which is actually working great for the most part but I'm really in need of boosting my income.

Because of this I was wondering about what are some niches that seem to always turn a profit. I've never done anything in terms of selling stuff(as I said, just ad space) but I'm interested in opening up some smaller sites I can turn a profit on be that from selling a product for affiliate commissions or AdSense or anything like that.

Getting the site found is no issue, I'm just knowledge less when it comes to niche and what to sell/make profit off.

Think about what motivates people to buy.

-To lessen pain (physical or mental)

    -For better relationships

    -To solve problems

    -For financial gain

Just a very few suggestions, but with this little guide, go to your friendly Keyword Tool and start some research.

    Best to you.

That's brilliant answer. It's hard to give a better advice.

Great pointers, thanks. I'll be following your suggestion, too, if you don't mind. And then maybe just narrow it down to micro niches.

Thanks for the reply, rallenk. They're good points, not niche specific but very good points you make. I'll keep those in mind.

the IM niche on how to make money is hard, and only the top 1% are the ones who have mastered it.

Thanks for the reply, imfusa. I've heard real estate is a good one but I honestly don't even know where to begin with that. Making money online seems like a good one to go with but it's definitely seems like a tough one to compete in.

One niche that seems to be evergreen is forex. It's a multi trillion dollar niche and from the site owners perspective some truly yummy commissions up for grabs. With residual elements on some services. Eg, if you know the right ones, some brokers will offer a per trade commission for clients that you provide them. That's just titanic.

And, with the global economy in the toilet, increasing numbers of ordinary folks will be turning to work from home income methods like forex trading.

There are many other niches too - unfortunately services like debt help and credit repair are in greater need, again due to the savage global economy. I remember reading an article recently about a debt help company turning people away because it just didn't have the staff resources to cope with demand.

We would expect to see things like foreclosures up. With job losses rampant in places like the USA, UK and much of Europe - that's a niche that will sadly do well over the next few years.

Rallenk was right about his summary on picking niches though - pick any niche that's emotive, and it would typically be evergreen. Dieting. Hairloss. Cancer. Always in demand, because they reduce peoples quality of life.

Is this a competitive niche? I imagine it would be, but an interesting concept because I would imagine people who are looking at this would not be buyers? But then again Casio's always tend to do well in situations like this because everyone is trying to get lucky.

Dating and membership sites are highly profitable. I heard this from one of Russell Brunson's interviews with a guy (i forget his name) from the illuminati program from dot com secrets x. This guy has 50 membership sites and make about a million a year. Everyone belongs to a membership site one way or another HBO, cable, magazines. And dating is big! who would have thought. I just set up a dating membership site up now and I am marketing it. John Alanis is making a mint on how to pick up girls.

What do you use to set up a dating membership site? Is it a PHP script? Something I could just toss up on a server? Thanks Chris.

If you dismiss the things that do not matter; if you remove those things from your mind and focus on what must be done; if you understand that your time is limited and decide to work now; only then will you be able to get to the finish line.

You already sell ad space and text links. In some ways selling
traffic or list-building would be serving the same market. The
need is for customers or website visitors... or repeat visitors.

This has always been needed and always will be

in my opinion, it doesn't matter what niche is always profitable....
what matters are what people are searching for.

if people are searching for something, do the keyword research and build a website around that
AND add affiliate links if possible or at least have adsense ads.

I read a few weeks ago and never thought about it, but just look at the magazine racks and notice there is a magazine for alot of niches out there.

just pick a topic / field, then narrow it down, do keyword research and there you go.

health / fitness is a large topic that is always being searched for though.

on the internet, it's not so much the product it's

fulfilling the need of the "searcher".

if someone is searching for banana recipes, make a site of just that.

Actually, it does matter. Just because someone is searching for something doesn't mean they're a buyer.

All searches are not created equal.
        • You have people who search because they're ready to buy!
        and
        • People who search because they're looking for free information!
Don't confuse the two or you could waste and lot of time and money.

Why don't you try promoting consumer products? For example treadmills, vacuum cleaner and health and beauty products? Then from there you can capture lead (email marketing) by giving/selling your ebooks.

I used to struggle with choosing niches, but I now look at my online business from a different angle: I look for products that convert well no matter what niches they are in. Preferably, they convert well because the product creators do a great job at selling such as sales pages, lead capture pages, etc. In this case, all I need to work on is driving traffic there.

I am trying out a couple things now and hopefully they are what I am looking for.

There are 3 things that most people want in life and they will spend a lot of money to get what they want.

They are anything that make people:

    1) Healthy (Weight loss, natural health remedies, performance enhancement etc)

    2) Wealthy ( Make money online, forex, investment, share trading, retirement planning etc)

    3) Happy (Relationship, self improvement, beauty products, pets, golf etc)

Profitable and hungry niches are right in front of you wherever you look.

One thing I learned after 13 years of working with people is that we chase dreams.

When I say dreams I'm talking about what we chase...we normally chase external things that we believe will make us healthier, sexier, better person, better father, better mother, better lover, wealthier, etc

We are always seeking and wanting things that will make our life more fulfilling than what it is today.

I have about 74 niches that I focus and write about...but there are lot more...

You also want to focus on things that teach someone how to do something. I will never forget a guy who made a killing off "chicken coops" I guess people were always looking for them and wanting to know how to build them...

One last thing is to look at trending things on Google...some of us think of ourselves as rebels...going against the grain...but the truth is that we follow crowds, friends, or people we like.

Basically, all problems people have nowadays fall into three categories:

    1. Relationships (dating niche)
    2. Welfare (make money / financial / loans etc niches)
    3. Health (lose weight, look younger, sport niches)

Pick a niche related to one of these three categories and they will continue to be profitable!

People claim you can make money in weight loss, but most of those topics are over crowded now. I made money in the weight loss niche, back in the 90's, but rising PPC costs crushed me. Also, links became very expensive. It is hard to compete with big companies. They will crowd out the small ones.

For example, in 1900 there were hundreds of car companies. However, by 1920 most were gone. They could not compete with the big boys of Detroit and the rest is history for us. Basically, as soon as something starts to make money. Well, a lot of people jump in. Like how many computer companies that were started in the 1980's are still around now - not many...

Key to success is going into forbidden areas. Not only is competition low, but it will stay low over the years. Case in point, the weird and controversial will attract an audience for you. For example, instead of weight loss, do a video on a man who drinks snake blood and claims to be a vampire.

The issue that I see with the money making niche is that it is nearly impossible to compete in. But, you can try to drill it down to a more specific area of the market. I like to look at it as being a big fish in a small pond. If you just go with making money then your a small fish in a big pond...find a smaller pond in the niche and become a big fish there.

    good luck.
