Question about approving affiliates

I have my first ever WSO running. I think I was right when I said, I think we have a real good product put together, as I got the most flattering review I have ever seen. It is so nice to see that you really pleased someone with your product. But I got off the subject, sorry.

I set it up for commission through WSO Pro, and I have had 19 applications. I just approved them all without any real thought. Did I do wrong? Should I have gone through a vetting process of some kind? And if so, how should I evaluate them?

I have never had to do that before, and I never thought about till now. I don't know if that is a lot or a little. I have not had chance to go recruiting as I have been running to doctors and dialysis every day. Two a day Monday and today. It wears me out.

Sorry if this looks like a blatant attempt to promote my product, but I really do need to know the answer to my question. I am new at this and I have used up all of my time with my coach who is helping me with these products.

    I've never requested to promote a WSO before, but I know some WSO vendors that consider the applicant's forum registration date, number of posts and forum reputation.

    As stated above, I would definitely ask the applicant how he/she plans to promote your product.

      That is what I did in this WSO for the review copies, but I didn't think to do it for affiliates. Wow, I am impressed, I just approved Angela V Edwards and Jeremy Kelsall as affiliates. I hope I can perform to their standards. I didn't think twice before approving them.

    Hey Tim,

    I approve about 90%; and if I don't "know" the person then I go and take a look at their WF user profile.

    If they have only a couple of posts and no interaction I click 'no' or ask "what did they intend on doing'.

    Most of the people who have no info about themselves and no post are probably looking to add your product into some automated-thingy (technical term) to blast about automated-thingy-crap (super technical term) in the "hope" that they might get a referred sale.

    I don't want lazy-ass affiliates for my products, I want people who good communication with their lists and can tell them what my product is and why they should take a look at it.

    Do I miss a few sales that way? Sure. But who cares. I'm after customers for life, not next week.

    I think you summed it up real good Paul. I had wondered if there was a lot of people just after a big discount for themselves.

    My biggest fear is that I (my offer) will not perform up to their expectations. The stats are not that good right now. But I have been dealing with some issues and I tweaked the sales letter a bit. It will drop off of page two any time now. It was at 99 a short time ago. I am not exactly sure when I should bump it. This is sure a learning experience.

    Sorry for hijacking the thread. I just realized I took it off course. Oh well.

    Tim, don't worry about the 'stats'. Those folks who get those "amazing conversion ratios" are because they are ALL (without exception) using targeted affiliate traffic from a good affiliate pre-sell.

    While you might see once in a while (I think I've seen it twice) an offer that does well just from being posted on WSO forum and go over 100+ sales it's VERY rare. Heck, I've never even done it. You've got to have solid affiliate referrals and people wanting to buy your offer to get the stats.

    But then, I've noticed that a lot of WSO sellers these days SELL THEIR OFFER to affiliate NOT based on the product but based on the conversion stats. Even if the product sucks or is really nothing more than a freebie converted into a paid plugin, they care more about the numbers than the customer.

    However, I come from a traditional business background and I just can't shake the fact that I care more about the customer than the conversion ratios.

    Maybe that's why I don't sell as much crap as everyone else
