How to Attract travellers to write about their Travel Story on My Blog?

INTERNET MARKETING

I was thinking to make a new site which will allow visitors to post their travel or holiday trip review...Like if they visited some place in london. They could review some best hotels there, some pics etc

This will be user generated content ofcourse but Edited and approved by me. It will be very interactive as users will be able to content each other...Full of value ofcourse

Any idea how should i attract the following? SEO would be tough as travel industry is kinda tough since top results are booked by big sites..

  What is the incentive for the contribution? Presumably you are aiming to make some money out of the site, so what do the writers get for their work? You seem to be suggesting that there will be some editorial control so obviously not just one of those sites where anyone can vent or promote their/their friends businesses. There are a lot of travel forums and review sites around, so maybe you could start making contributions on those to establish your reputation and encourage people to your site?

You might try giving them something for free - it could be an ebook or you can make a contest for the best review and the winner gets something. Hope this helps

Based on my experience... In early stage, you can't wait users to contribute by themeself. They come to your site and post something. It will not happen. You must invite them.

Just go to some travel forums, look for members that active to share stories, ask and invite them to post something on your traveling site.

Gain a following on Twitter and tweet about an offer - share your travel stories and be entered into a prize draw to win x.

x could be an e-book, an online voucher, some services for free, something like that. You need to offer something to get something back

Approach the venues where the people will be staying. Offer the venue free advertising on your blog if they will give all people who check in a form to complete. This is your form to capture the content. Once a week or whatever, collect the forms with the content and publish it.

Play around with the idea, sure you can formulate something better with it
