Sometimes I think I will never make money online!

Hey all

Well I am feeling a bit down and unmotivated at the moment and as my title suggests I feel I will never make any money online.

I am really struggling at the moment,I have two little girls a little boy due any time soon and am in debt up to my eyeballs, plus my other half has just lost her job.I know we have our health and of course there are a lot more people worse off than us in the world.

I made a promise to my family that I would look after them and give them the life they deserve,I feel guilty I cant give the girls what they want because of MY debts.I am working full time and trying to fit in any extra overtime I might find but its not enough by far.

I have been searching for an income online on and off for the last eight years but have just succeeded in losing more money on the way on various scams and crappy ebooks.

I found this forum a couple of years ago but never really became active on it untill recently,I did not realise what a great forum this is and its full of wondeful people willing to help. Now I have taken action where I have decided to create a blog, put an affiliate product on it and drive traffic to it.

To date I am following the Amy Bass course and I learnt how to make my blog which is a start. I belong to the war room but have not found anything on there yet that I think might suit me.
I also have just started Jeremy Kelsalls 30 day bootcamp and have copied one of his methods and have just written an article at Ezinearticles about it.

I am over stretching myself with my cash and might have to cancel my Amy Bass course.I know all the step by step courses I am following are pretty good but I have doubts that I can find a niche, that I can write good content, that I can drive traffic to my site, that I can make a sale.

I am doing all I can I am enthusiastic I work hard I am not technical and I find stuff hard to do. I do put hours and hours into this but just cant help feeling I will just be wasting my time.

I only want to earn an extra £100 a week how hard can this be? there are so many people on here earning so much money will it ever be me?

Just after some pick me ups and motivation and guidance and maybe some more help guys and girls.

cheers

Marcus

My guess is you're buying too many courses and not taking any action. It sounds like you just wrote your first article for Ezine so that's not much action in 8 years.

Stop buying courses. They won't make you money. Start doing things directly like throwing up blogs, and writing articles. That's the only way to find what really works and start making money. You probably won't succeed at first. But if you keep trying you will. Anyone who makes money at this has done the following. took action, failed, took another action, failed, kept trying and finally found something that works.

Until you take action your not an internet marketer. You're still an internet marketer's customer.

I have taken plenty of action over the last eight years just bought into various opps that I neither really understood what they did or how to promote them.
I have finally taken action as I understand that I have a blog I put good content on it I put an affiliate product on it then

OK, you started a blog and you think you put good content on it.

Good start. Problem is that blog and/or product might not work.

The people who make money at this will tell you all about their successes, but rarely will the tell you about their failures(kinda hard to sell their stuff to you if they do).

The truth is IM'rs fail more than they succeed, especially in the beginning. The quicker you start taking actions with multiple approaches, the quicker you'll get those failures behind you and start having some success.

My advice is throw up another blog today, and another one tomorrow. If you keep trying you'll find something that works and sales will give you all the motivation you need to keep going.

Marcus, i feel your pain. But there is no better solution than taking action. You are just on the right track. Hang on, keep adding more content to your blog and keep submitting more articles to ezine. I bet you are the next affiliate success

  • You know what?

Just when I feel this way, I only do one thing: Work even harder. I work myself to death. There are times when I don't eat and I lock myself up in my room working my bottoms off.

There is no way you can give up my friend. Everyone has potential and everyone has a calling. You are out there on a wide open field. It's upto you to pitch your tent up.

Heed My advice because I speak form authority -- the authority comes from the fact that the only money I ever made was from my writing services?

My earnings from affiliate marketing so far? Zero.

    Some Authority! lol...

My blog makes me a whopping, incredible, earth-shattering and Bill-gate shaming $14 each month.

I ain't giving up just as yet.

The best thing I would suggest is to start providing services for starters -- like being a Virtual Assistant, writing, web and graphic designing or something like that. This would start fetching you immediate earned income.

As you establish yourself, you will have the ability to start putting that money to good use like investing in your IM business, offline Business or whatever else you wish to do.

The more you think of the problems you are in, the more these problems suck you in -- deeper and deeper into godforsaken oblivion.

Get out of this and start thinking about how much of wealth there is to be made and how to get there ASAP.

There is no time to ruminate or feel sorry, my friend.

You have no choice but to succeed. The forum you landed on is one of the best places on the Internet. A global community set to help you and I. It is a powerhouse of knowledge and support.

Use it all - live in abundance.

    I understand your situation.

First off, I hope you are not relying on the internet for all your income.

Do you have a job to keep you going in the meantime?

Now, what exactly are you doing to make income?

In a nutshell, NOTHING happens until people in your market become aware of what you are doing.

Only then can they decide whether they want to buy whatever it is you are selling.

You mention you put hours and hours into this, but what exactly are you doing to present your offer to someone who may buy?

These simple sentences sum up internet marketing and also marketing in general.

Depending upon how many people know what you sell, how many find it interesting and how many eventually buy, this determines your income.

If you are not making any income it is usually because not enough people know about your offer and/or not enough people are interested in it.

The skill in internet marketing is how you go about accomplishing this simple objective.

So think about what I have said carefully.

    What niche are you targeting?
Do you know the keyword phrases people us to search in this niche?
Do you have a website yet?
    Does it look nice?
Does it rank reasonably well for the keywords you are targeting?
    How many people visit it?
Are you making a decent offer that people would find interesting?
Is your product or products worth the money you are charging?
Are you interested in the niche you are targeting?
Have you written dozens of articles and spread the word?
    etc. etc. etc.

So let me know and then we may be able to help you a little more.

    Cheers.

Hi Marcus - I understand where you are coming from. In fact, many here have "been there, done that".

I would have to say two things - first - get past the guilt about not giving your family what you think they deserve. Guilt will eat away and paralyze you for a long time. Been there . . . Remember that none of us really "deserve" the posh life - but some of us 'earn' it. Your family wants YOU - your time, energy, patience and love. Those are things they will really remember.

Second - you have to make some money to get motivated to make more money. Not sure that makes sense. It's a concept I learned when I worked with a network marketing company (still get a check every month from them and haven't done a thing in over 2 years). The faster you make something - anything - the more ingrained your ability to make more money will become.

So, with that in mind, consider what skills you might have. Based on your post you're probably a decent writer - not sure if you enjoy that aspect - but in the beginning we are all solo entrepreneurs and do all of it. So if you can write - think about doing a WSO with articles or hiring out your services. Yes - it's dialing for dollars but it will also help you to build relationships with people.

Make those first dollars and recognize that the niche you choose doesn't have to be something in which you are already a recognized expert. You MUST however, enjoy it to some degree!

Keep coming back, reading and learning - but stop the buying for now until you can purchase products with money you've earned from your business. And then, make them products that move you forward - AND that you'll use in the next 24 hours

    Warmly,

    Gail

Don't give up! Learn and act on what you've learned. I made my first affiliate sale after having published 18 articles online on EZA. Granted, it isn't much, but it helps some, especially for a newbie like me.

    Again, don't give up!

Here's a cool quote for you:

There is no easy way to make money online without putting in the work, you gotta work it. Infact what we really need to do is forget about making money for the time being lets stop chasing the dollar and then the dollar will eventually come to you.

        Holy smokes, what a coincidence

Seriously dude, what you need is a simple game plan that works for you then execute it to the letter. You are right in that, the money will follow so long as you are working from a proven "system" for success online... and not deviating from it (I.e. the past eight years)

        Stay focussed.

        Now go make some money!

    Hi Marcus,

The bootcamp method is all you need. Just follow it and you will make money. It's a lot of work though but you can do it.

One thing I learned (from both the bootcamp and the Amy Bass course) is that I was not doing ENOUGH on my websites. I would put up a 10 page site, promote with some SB and a few articles and then declare it a failure when it didn't make "enough" money.

So I guess what I am trying to say is don't give up on your sites (or yourself) too soon!

Don't take this the wrong way because I'm trying to help. But if you spent as much time doing something instead of telling yourself I can't do this, I can't do that, I'm not technical, I'm not any good at that then you might just get somewhere.

It sounds like you probably want to make money right away because of your financial situation. I feel for you and your family, but this is not a get rich quick scheme. It's going to take some time.

You said you started a blog and that's probably one of the best things you could have done. Don't worry about selling anything right now or for awhile. Just keep posting valuable content to your blog. Try and help your readers if you have any. If not, you will, just keep on writing.

Stop buying stuff! And make a plan. You have to have a plan in place or you will never get anywhere. Step away from your computer and grab yourself a piece of paper and a pencil and start writing a plan. Start with a one year plan, then break it down into quarters, then monthly, then weekly and finally a daily plan. I'm telling you this works.

Without a plan you will fail.

Of course I have not taken it the wrong way,and I have a plan which is I wanted to write an interesting blog about how I will make my first online income and start to get out of debt. Then when I make money I wanted to show all my friends how I made that money, and I know this is not a get rich quick scheme I just feel that I will get everything wrong.

HI Marcus- I understand where you're coming from. I didn't start making
any money until sept of 2008, and that was $50-$200 a month from clickbank.
Focus on what you truly want. Why do you want to make money online?
Write those down. With so many avenues to make money on the net, you
should try narrowing down to the one that you love, and go with that.
If you try to many different techniques your probably never make it.

Hey Marcus,Many People time after time have thought " I won't make money online etc" from that its like a tree branch, some branch off and give up and try something new, then the other branch is people who decided to work ten times harder and usually go onto succeeding. What you have to realise is you need to be doing at least 3-5 ezines a week have a blog with great content and that is just the start! Don't let nothing stop you!!

I wonder how many people on here dont actually make any money?
I'll be honest and say I don't but I am not giving up. What we need to do is to focus on ONE thing! Be consistent and don't expect things to happen overnight. The key is doing that one thing, and not to get distracted by lots of things.

I bet you are like me watching your inbox for the next best thing, well I'm thinking of not bothering to read any of the emails because nearly every single one wants me to buy something. There's practically a new "Next Big Thing" launch every week.

I stopped buying stuff ages ago. I was simply buying everything and it just stayed on my hard drive.

I'm going to focus on doing one thing and stick with it. You should write a plan of what it is you going to do, and not deviate from it.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm still very positive regardless. You might also want to check out some of the offline threads that have been very helpful.

Now you need to evaluate if you have chosen the right Network Marketing program to promote. Once you know if it's the one or not, then you need to implement a Marketing plan into action!! Without a marketing plan which will bring leads to you you CANNOT grow a business.

You also need to stay motivated and you can do that by saying Affirmations to yourself every single morning, for that I would recommend the book " What to say when you talk to yourself" by Shad Helmstetter. It's a little book you can finish in a few days & it only costs $7.50. This book will re-wire your brain to give you the right mindset, which you need if you wanna succeed.

And remember to have a big WHY. if you cannot think of one right now...remember that you are doing it for your family. take yourself out from the equation. just do it for your girls!

I agree with a ton of people on here. Sounds like you may be spreading yourself too thin while at the same time reinforcing your negative thoughts of never becoming successful online.

Remove those thoughts by reciting to yourself that you are a successful person and that you can make money online.

There are tons of success tracks to follow. They are all simply road maps and if you don't get through the entire road map you never end up reaching your destination... which is making money. So focus on one project until it is done.

I've had the same problem in the past where I would buy everything and do a million things at once, get stressed and then freak out. Please don't do that.

Just continually work on building your list and learning and you will get there. Hope that helps my friend!

HI Marcus you need to find yourself a nice niche market for the products that you are going to promote then start working on getting traffic to them, if nobody know where you are how can you make money. You Need traffic not just any traffic. Find your niche you can make money. Wish you Luck.

    Marcus,

Keep your head up, and remember the only thing we really have that has value is our time. And you are the only one that can decide what to do with your time, you cannot find a way to get more. Once your time is up, your time is up. Now with that out of the way you need to get your wife doing some research and writing articles for your sites, you also need to take a weekend and get her familiar with article research and writing.

Have her write articles when she has time, I would think that she could knock out 2 to 3 articles per day easily...5 days a week x 3 articles would be 60 articles per month. Once she has say 15 articles written you will then need to submit a different article each day for 60 days to the following article directories, Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Searchwarp (they will allow you to place an affilaite link in your signature), Article Base, Article City, and Buzzle. Submit the first article to Ezine Articles, the second article to Go Articles, the third article to Searchwarp (put an affiliate link into your signature, make sure it has something in common with your niche), forth article to Article Base and so on.

If you can afford it you may want to look at Article Marketer or iSnare for article submissions, they will shoot out an article to hundreds of directories but have a cost associated with the service.

Also on your wifes behalf, if she is taking care of the kids all day you may have to write the articles yourself (cannot go and upset all the Warrioir Moms out thereby being inconsiderate) but there are people on the WF that can knock out articles in 10 to 15 minutes so you may have to invest an hour or so each day if she does not have the time, but as you get those 60 or so articles submitted you will certainly see an increase in your traffic and that is what will make your profit.

This could be a helpful thread for all the warriors who are feeling down and upset.

Marcus, you're not the only one who feels the same thing. In this time of crisis, many people are suffering and some times they were even in a worst situation than what you are experiencing at this moment.

Don't lose hope. Always think positive and do not compare yourself to others, remember that there are people who are better and worst than you are. Work harder and double your effort if necessary. I'm sure you'll get better earnings if you'll work diligently.

    Keep on kicking man!

Yeah good post thanks and yes it could be useful for all the fellow warriors that are not making anything yet.
I know I am getting motivation from it I am glad I started this thread. But I did not start it for people to feel sorry for me,I like to learn and work hard I know its going to be a long time and no its gonna take a lot of work untill I find this elusive online income.I just dont want to waste my time and end up putting hours and hours of work in for nothing.I'm not technical,I'm not all that good on the computer but I am willing to listen and learn.

    Marcus,

Hang in there....I know you want to see some extra money.

Let me tell you one of the things that has always worked for me....Article Marketing.

I'll give you a rough sketch to work with but you can use the "search" function on here or Google to help fill in the gaps.....

Go to Clickbank and find a product with good gravity and decent affiliate commission...Only deal with products that are $30 or more commission (Plenty of them out there! -OR- sign up with CPA networks and find a product that pays $30 or more per sale.....

Once you find your product....Do some brainstorming and think of some long tail keyword phrases that you can write a 300 word article on ezine articles around. Once you find the right one, write your article with your keyword phrase mentioned 3 times in the article.

Make sure that your resource box calls them to action (Again, search on here for some great tidbits).

Normally I would say build a list with the links in your resource box...But for now, let's get you some cash. So you are going to put your affiliate link DIRECTLY in your resource box and you do so by getting a cheap .info domain at GoDaddy. Register a .info domain that is related to your product/article. Set up automatic redirect so your Clickbank/CPA affiliate link automatically forwards to your .info domain. Now, any clicks in your resource box will go right to your affiliate sales page.

When I first started doing article marketing, it took time to see some results but then things slowly snowballed to a point where even now I still get checks from articles months and months ago.

You will see results but you need to commit to writing a few good quality articles that has low-tail keyword phrases. You don't need a ton of them....just a few well-researched, high quality articles will get you there. Make sure you do your research so that your article can easily show up on page 1 of Google. Look at the top 10 results on Google for your keyword phrase.....Are they low page rank sites? Do they have a lot of inbound links?

There are a gajillion (seriously, that many!) keyword phrases for you to get your articles on page 1 of google.....I know I am rambling but stick to article marketing and you will see some results. Work with Jeremy on this....He is very knowledgeable in this area. Or send me a PM and I can give you some more pointers.

For now, fill in any gaps by doing research on:
    "keyword research"
    "article marketing"
    "backlinks"
    "resource box"

There is a ton of FREE info to get you going.....You just need to READ, then PLAN, and then ACT!

Article marketing is one of the best way for long-term passive income for very little cost....Good Luck!

Wow I might just give that a go did not realise you didnt need a website,if I could find some really good profits and then just concentrate on writing articles I can come back to designing my blogs later on.

You know what I need? I need someone that will share their secrets with me and show me EXACTLY what they do to earn money.

I need someone to say Marcus go purchase this domain name www.mydomainname.com

I need someone to say Marcus use this Niche and you will make money.

I need someone to say Marcus now go use this wordpress theme and design your blog how I tell you.

I need someone to say Marcus use these keywords.

I need someone to say Marcus now go here use this content and post it on your blog where I tell you.

I need someone to say Marcus now write this article with these words and submit it to Ezinearticles.

I need someone to say Marcus now do what ever I tell you to drive traffic to your website.

I know I wont find anyone to actually give me that sort of information where I can actually follow their instructions and Niche idea etc, would be nice though. If I was to find anyone willing to do that I would gladly give them at least my first months profit.

I am thinking of dumping mydebtfreejourney site anyway and just using it as some sort of online diary and then just starting out again.

cheers for all the comments its been a good thread maybe it will keep going.

Here's my 2 cents! people don't like to be sold anything! They like to sell themselves.Don't spend hundreds of dollars on programs etc. There are many things you can get for free, and I know of one program where you can join for free, and if you put as much effort in this one program as your doing with everything else, You will surely make money.
Video marketing is cheap and very effective means of advertising.People are making money every single day with this program, and it's a shame that people are spending a ton of coin, on things that don't work.
I hate selling! That's why what I do satisfies me completely.Building any business is hard at the beginning, but if you don't give up, it gets easier.
Hang in there, but you might have to get a job, until this all pans out.
If you want to take a look at building a business over time. You might want to look at what i do.

Don't do it, if it's going to distract you from what you are focused on today,I just bring it up as an option in case your stuck.

What you need to do is go to your control panel(after you have purchased domain and hosting)
then you go to domain section in cpanel and click on redirect
after that follow simple steps shown there to manage redirection of your domain.
if your domain is an addon then go to addon domains--->manage redirection and follow the same steps.
its quite easy actually, just try it!

Some great suggestions so far, I think courses are extremely beneficial to learn from but it usually best to start by getting your hands dirty by creating some blogs, and writing good quality articles to get a feel for what really works and what will start making money for you . Its always the way most internet marketers make their start by taking some action, see if it works and then try something different again and again until you start making some money.

The Millionaire League have a free program called "License To Print Money" that shows you exactly how to set up an affiliate program, buy a domain name, redirect your affiliate link, and then how to market your product. It's really easy to follow step by step.

Have a look on their web site or if you need a copy I can email it to you if you give me your email address.

Hey Marcus - forget about being spoonfed - if you don't like "working" this business, then find something else to do!

Seriously, I'm not trying to be mean or confrontational, but man...the niche discovery, keyword research, market research, competitive analysis, content generation, and marketing are all part of building a business online and IF you want to succeed, then you need to enjoy this at some level rather than looking for someone to spoon feed you every answer.

It's like helping my son with his homework last night - he's working on basic math - what would happen if I gave him all the answers, he would be no smarter (or more successful) if I gave him all the answers. Yes, I can give him successful tips, shortcuts and lessons on HOW to do it, but giving him THE answer doesn't really help.

A second analogy - if you don't enjoy what you are doing, then move on to something else.

Marketing online means you need to get good at...

        1. Uncovering niche markets
        2. Discovering opportunities within those niche markets (Problems, challenges, desires)
        3. Find solutions to these opportunities (existing products, your own system, licensed content, outsource content, etc...)
        4. Organize the solutions into a workable, testable set of steps that will help your customers AND that you can PROVE will help them over time
        5. Understand the different business models for monetizing your effort (free content + advertising and affiliate marketing or free content leading to your own products + upsell to higher-end and so on...)
        6. Know how people search the web giving you insight into keyword phrases that you can test...turn the fuzziness of 100's of keywords into a science so that you KNOW which keywords are most profitable)
        7. Apply dozens of different traffic generation techniques targeting the keywords you discovered are most profitable in #6

That's a roadmap for success...if you look at any successful marketer online they have followed this plan in some shape or form.

Sure, in some cases, they already had their niche market because they were ahead of the game...but the steps remain the same.

I would suggest that if you don't enjoy experimenting, working, testing and driving within each of these areas (you don't have to do all the work yourself), then this may not be the business for you...that is an important decision itself, there may be a different path out there for you.

          Jeff

    Hi,
I think what Mike means is to (for now) cut out the list building step by taking them straight to the sales page of your chosen product - straight from the article resource box.

You could make the clickable link in the box as http://YOURCLICKBANKID.WHATEVERPRODUCT.hop.clickbank.net/

    OR

Set the link to http://www.YOURCHEAPDOMAINNAME.info and have nothing on that page atm but a simple redirect to http://YOURCLICKBANKID.WHATEVERPRODUCT.hop.clickbank.net/

So for one of mine, I'd usualy send them direct to a webpage where I bribe them to join a list before sending them on - he's saying leave that part till later because you want to get the cash flowing more quickly.

You did say you wanted step by step :-)

** WHOOPS! sorry Mike I posted at the same time so ignore this offering :-)

    Cheers :-)

      Hi.

When I get the cheap .info domain, do I have to have hosting for it as well? Or can I simply get the domain on godaddy and forward to my clickbank hoplink without any hosting?
      Thanks

Thanks for the heads up Martin and Kurt.Yep I will try this method of just finding a clickbank product and writing an article on it. I am thinking of scrapping my original blog and I will try to think of something else I will get there one day I hope.

Sounds like me about a year back, when I first heard of internet marketing. I just tried to get all this information and try to build the whole picture before I made a single move. Result, I spent about $200 and read and read, and then I got frustrated from information overload, then i found other who were struggling as well, which only helped to fuel my doubts and cause more inaction.

I have since started again, about a week ago, and though i haven't started promoting as yet( still working on content) Im fairly confident i will be able to make a living on line.

I find it much better to find what you can get for free e.g warrior forum, and stop killing your self reading, and kill yourself doing what is immediately actionable.

For example first after you do keyword research, so dedicate your reading on doing that step. then..

next is building a site, read on that and so on and so forth.

Stop spending so much on e-books, try snowballing your debt and getting rid of it.
and then put in the extra investments when your turning profits.

im in no way an expert in this field, but good advice none the less i think.

    Hey Marcus,

I really understand your frustrations. I used to be there not making a dime until I figured out one thing that has turned my life around. CONSISTENCY. I'm not able to earn more in a month that I used to all year because I'm consistent with my marketing and I treat this as a business and NOT A HOBBY.

As I saw someone say already stop buying all of these course and stick to one thing and put your effort into it. Just think about getting daily tasks done every single day and the money will come. Hang in there man you'll get it.

      Hi Marcus,
I totally agree with stefanjames. I treated IM as a hobby, albeit a serious one. But the progress was slow.

Then I went full steam ahead with it after my some of my business consulting work ended and that increased my income ten fold. And in IM, 10 fold increase in income is no longer any magic. I know I can achieve tons more.

The key? Consistency, perseverance, never give up and never say die attitude. Have a daily schedule, be consistent with daily activities like learning IM, reading forums but never only be on the receiving end.

ACTION is the key. Plan your day, write articles in the morning when your mind is clear, do promotions for your sites, learn IM in the afternoon and in the evenings do blog commenting, and participate in the forums of your niches. You can of course add on to this list.

Keep the above to a rhythm, don't lose a beat. You should see result within a month. And Do Not expect miracles at onset. You need to burn your bones to earn you dollars. That's the way IM works.

And Yes, you are on to a winner program with Jeremy's program. Stick to it. It will give you a headstart on how to do affiliate marketing.

      Good Luck

        Marcus.
Start off by FOCUSING on one single goal. Don't get overwhelmed.
Try to make just one sale.
Start off on ebay if you have to and build up from there.
The problem with thinking too big early on is you try and take too giant a step and end up falling and feeling overwhelmed.
If you start off small but keep building bigger and bigger goals, you will eventually arrive.

I think it is premature to create a product before one has suceeded as an affiliate. You were lucky. Congrats! But generally I have seen so many people drop off ClickBank Market Place because they don't know how to sell their product and they don't know how to attract affiliates who will sell their product. As a publisher you either need an army of affiliates or you have to be a super affiliate yourself. If you don't know how to get affiliates (and this is a tough job) then you have to promote your product yourself, which is how you are back in square one not being able to sell anything. Most affiliates are actually useless, so you want super-affiliates. How do you find them? How do you convince them to sell your product?

Your pitch page has to be strong. Affiliates see pitch pages of all sorts all day. If your page is not up to par, they won't promote your product. If there is not much demand, they won't promote your product. If there is a lot of demand chances are there is competition over the roof. It's a catch 22. You have to start as an affiliate; sell similar products, see how much monthly search volume is; find out if you can rank competitively for those search terms; find out if those browsers are actually willing to pay for this type of info; etc. You can't know that by simply browsing the market place. You just won't know until you are successful as an affiliate.

The best way to succeed and make money online is trial and error. Buying lots of ebooks, courses or even training won't help. Identify a niche / vertical market that you feel is in high demand, create a plan, create a site and just focus on growing it. I think that will bring back your confidence back and help you succeed. All the best.

    Hi Marcus

This all sounds very familiar. I started in IM quite a number of years ago. I READ lots of advice, I BOUGHT lots of courses, spending money I didn't have, I ASKED lots of questions, and then I carried on doing what I did before and didn't take enough ACTION in the right direction.

I spent over 3 years online making nothing and getting more and more deperate. The more desperate I was to make money online, the more distracted and frustrated I became. And that's when you lose sight of your goals. I was here, there and everywhere, jumping on the next "big thing" hoping and praying it would work.

    It didn't.

After all the time and money have spent trying to be successful online I have learned 1 thing.

You already have everything you need to make money.

You have knowledge about a subject that others want to know. You know how to write. You know where and how to setup a blog or web site.

So, take that knowledge, write some articles and create a blog. Then write some more, and write some more. Tell people about it. Ask relevant questions here about how to promote it. Write some more. Tell some more people about it.

Focus on your content and NOT on the money. Keep writing and telling people about your blog. The money will come my friend.

It's very easy to read a sales page that promises you guaranteed wealth in the next 30 days. But instead, save your money and time. All the tools you need are freely available online. Free blogs, free promotion, free social bookmarking, free advice (right here on the forum).

Keep going Marcus - your debt free journey has already begun. One step at a time will take you down the road.

      Great job, Marcus!

Here's how to keep the momentum going....So many article marketers post their articles and forget about them...Then they complain about sales trickling to nothing.

Here's how to keep it consistent. Visit Google periodically to make sure that your article is still in the top 10. If it is, great. If not, then go to various 2.0 sites and post there and in your posts, link to your article.

Some good 2.0 places are Squidoo, Hubpages, Bumpzee. Increase the backlinks to your article and you will see long-term success.

      Good Luck!

Yes , indeed, this is very important.

You already know that you have the perfect combination of a traffic source (your EA article) and a page where people go to from your article and BUY!

I guess this is called... conversion

Your article is now on top spots in Google, but you have to make sure that it stays there. So, for now, instead of searching for other products to promote, I recommend you focus on building links to your EA url. This to avoid that your article gets replaced by another EA.

Then your CB account will keep growing!

        Kurt

  • Hi Marcus;

I can totally relate as I got all wrapped up in "training" but didn't really know where to start! I've finally got a "grip" on things. I have been involved in a new program called Marketing Merge by Mike Klinger. His program shows you click by click how to create a blog, email marketing, and how to attract prospects to you using free marketing methods.
I know you don't have the cash to be starting any more training programs right now, but, if you'd like to email me and I'd be happy to help you for free as I just finished a couple of weeks of the training and it's fresh in my mind.

I know how hard it is to be asking for help and then everyone just tries to sell you something else. I'm still relatively new in internet marketing, but I've learned alot of valuable things that are starting to bring me good results very quickly!

Hey Marcus, I'm in a pretty tight spot too man. My family has been losing so much money lately and on what i don't know. We're so low on money in the bank that we had to dig our savings account which I'll go ahead and tell you that it consists of only $300. And thats not even enough to make the house payment. My friend who is in the Army does Affiliate Marketing and told me about it 8 weeks ago. And since then I've been working my ass off trying to make money and well I haven't even made a cent. But you know I'm not going to give up people are counting on me to bring in money to make things easier again. If you ever have a moment where you feel like your going to give up, don't. Your family needs your help and if your the kind of man i am, your family is everything in the world to you. keep your head up man. You'll get better just like I will. I understand, Marcus. I think most of us have gone through something similar.

When you really stop to think about it, 800 pounds per month comes out to about 26 pounds per day (sorry, I can't find the pound symbol!). Let's say you don't want to work 30 days per month, but only 15 so that 800 pounds per month comes out to 52 pounds per day for 15 days per month.

So, you only have to net 52 pounds every other day.

(Stay with me here because I'm trying to think outside the box a bit):

    1. At 15 pounds/hr that's an extra 60 hours per month at work or 3 hours per day for 20 days.

    2. If you can't DO internet marketing profitably because you're not technical enough, or focused enough, or whatever, then why not work those 3 extra hours per day and use that money to pay someone to do everything for you for the first few months?

Because, you ARE working close to the same extra hours but getting paid nothing for it except frustration.

    3. What do you think are some of the things you could both "do" and "not do" (give up) that would help you?

I can give you one suggestion and I'm only giving this one because you asked. It's an unpleasant suggestion that I usually only reserve for people who pay me first because once they pay me, they stop arguing and start trying to get the most value for their money.

So here is your free advice: you need to make the transition from thinking like a consumer who wants to be self-employed -- to an entrepreneur who wants to be financially independent.

If you think you already do, or aren't sure as to what is the difference, then pick up Robert Kiyosaki's "Cashflow Quadrant" and it will become abundantly clear... mindset determines a lot of important outcomes.

However, I wish you great success and a speedy breakthrough,
    Eric

    Marcus,

I can clearly tell that you have the enthusiasm. Now you need to fine tune where you focus your energy. That is also very clear.

First of all - there is an expression "it takes money to make money". Yes, that is true, but in the beginning you can do almost everything for free. Listen - I have made plenty of money from non IM sources but I promised myself and my family I would not spend it building my IM business. I spend only my profits from IM by re-investing them. Make that promise to yourself (or set a very low budget for IM activities).

I agree with the first reply you got. STOP spending money.

Next - focus on what you can do that is relatively free.

    1) Aritcle marketing
    2) Blog posts
    3) Forum posts
    4) Blog commenting

If you focus those activities towards sending traffic to a review site, or a squeeze page or something that SELLS, then you will make money.

If I was starting out as an affiliate I would focus on high-gravity clickbank products that you feel have good sales pages. If you are not competing for PPC traffic (you should not), then you can do a very easy review (USE VIDEO) of a product and send traffic to your review from the sources mentioned above.

    Take Action
    Keep Learning
    Spend VERY LITTLE.

Side note - nobody touched on this but I think that if you are in debt you should re-evaluate all of your spending to see what can be cut / reduced / changed. It's amazing how much fat there can be in a budget. Cut out the fat. What costs you money but gives you no value?
