Niche vs. Passion?
I'd really welcome your opinions on something.
I'm not a newbie - I create my own products in the self empowerment/law of attraction niche(s) mostly, and I know how to build a HTML based mini site, and I have some not bad ideas about sales copy and marketing. I've done my due diligence, in other words!
But ... and here's my question ... over the years, I've had a lot of advice telling me if I want to really make a living online, I've got to head for more lucrative niche markets. So I've dabbled in affiliate marketing, (trying everything from "golf products" - a game I don't play, to promoting a book on how to run your car on water - which I wasn't sure I believed in).
I began life - way before the internet was a twinkle in it's daddy's eye - as a writer and motivational workshop leader. That's what I shine at, and that's where my passion lies. I make sales online, sure, but no way is it a living yet.
So, if you were me, would you stick to the niche - which so far has not made me a living, (a steady and handy trickle of sales but rarely more), or go for where the big boys play, but lose my soul?
Do you think it's the niche itself that is just a slow seller, my marketing tactics or something else, (like maybe I'm not as good as I'd like to think I am! You can tell me!)
Thanks in advance - I really appreciate your thoughts and wisdom on this!
