My first POF campaign, feedback please :)

I have been researching around with POF the last two weeks, trying to figure out the methods to get the best CTR in good price. Will appreciate if I can get some feedback from the good folks here at Warrior Forum, which will help me immensely.

I ran a campaign Friday/Saturday for a CB dating product and got the following:

Impressions: 35464
Clicks: 37
CTR: 0.104
Cost: 29 US$

A few questions:
  • I think the CTR is pretty good as I have read the average CTR on POF is .15? Is it a good CTR in Warriors eyes?
  • I am not worried about conversion in this campaign as it was a test. I got good CTR and good follow up clicks on the basic landing page I had to the CB product, 25 to be exact but zero conversions. The video is catchy and it should generate some sales. Should I increase the budget and see how it goes? The beauty of CB product is that I need only two-three conversions to get my investment back flat. Am I thinking correct OR it is a gamble?
  • I noticed that most of the clicks were received from men earning under 25,000 US$. Should I be worried about this? i.e. less income?
I would like to advertise some CPA offers but unfortunately no network has accepted me. I think CB is good alternative for now.

    Hi,

It's difficult to be sure of the potential with a limited test like this, but I can see a few things that would put me offer additional promotion.

Right now you're paying $0.78 per click and I presume the product your promoting is price around $37

If you get a 1% conversion (a base rate I use for most campaigns) you'll need to spend $78 per conversion and obviously this would result in a loss.

It's kinda hard to know for sure at this point. If you can afford it, I would run the campaign up to 200 clicks and measure the conversion rate.

You'll need just over 2% to break even. If you get close to this conversion level you can then refine the campaign and increase your profits.

    Regards

Why do you want to monetize on POF instead of Adsense on your own site?

With CB products I would use targeting income > $25,000, your CTR may take a hit but your conversion rate should increase along with not wasting impressions on people with little disposable income.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I will surely run the campaign up to 200 clicks and see how it goes. I will also be testing by bidding a little less to reduce the cost per click.

Because I can? I am working on a few sites on the side which if successful will get me good money from Adsense too. Just don't want to depend too much on one venue esp. Google...

I may try that in future.
