Is it better to have your blog on the homepage or on a separate page?

For optimal results it depends on what you are marketing and your traffic method(s). Sometimes I build WordPress sites with a static homepage selling a product and the blog is separate. Other times I build a dynamic homepage selling a product with one one post that is drip fed a new article daily. And other ways.

Again, it depends on what you are doing?

There's no difference from an SEO perspective. Whether you want a static front page or your latest blog articles there is entirely up to how you want to design the site.

    Cheers,

I have my blog as my homepage. I use the "posts" as articles (write about stuff that's going on in my niche), and I use "pages" for my actual product reviews. I get traffic from both. The articles I write often lead to a product review page. Some people I know put their product reviews on "posts," but I don't personally like that look.

Again it seriously depends on what you are going to do with the site? Is it a niche site dedicated to a broad or narrow niche? Is it a site dedicated to selling products?

One aspect of SEO for standard blogs is the inner pages give more SEO weight to the homepage than any other SEO factors.

When you know what you are doing and care to share the specifics all you are going to get from people is general advise.

SEO should never be the first priority. The sell is always the first priority. Your SEO method might be organic traffic from the SEs. Hundreds of people visit sites everyday, but if the sites are not optimized for earning - the end result is low to zero earnings.
