A couple of blogging and Wordpress questions

Okay, I am working on this blogging thing, and at this point I am not even in it for the money. I kind of got lost in all this information about make money online.

Basically I refuse to spend another dime on domains plugins ebooks ect.

This is all about getting the things that I can do for free down before i jump into a project and spend any more money.

I guess this is all about getting into the routine of doing things and overcoming my problem of "not being organized".

First thing I am working on is writing/blogging/backlinking. I have ditched any effort of 'design' or trying to find the right look. Im not really concerned to much about weather the members stay or click this or click that. (at least not right now)

I will work more on user experience once I can actually figure out how to get traffic. (hard to test without traffic)

Anyway, I know that it is important to link articles to other articles from within your site and also link to bigger, authority sites. What I cant figure out is a time saving system to get this done.

Here are a couple of questions I have, if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

1) When your writing do you literally hand link all the articles from within your site, then go look for other articles to link to outside of the side all manually while writing the post? Is there any plugins for this.

2) It would be easy now as I dont have hardly any articles. What happens when I have accumulated hundreds of articles? Do I go back and do a manual search for relevant information and then hand link those?

3) When backlinking I am guessing it is good to link to specific articles than just linking to the homepage. Should I take all the articles I write on that day then do X amount of backlinks for that article on the same day. Then maybe pick one day out of the week to add 1 or 2 more backlinks to ALL my articles I wrote that week.

4) This one is really confusing to me. I am not any type of expert on the subject. ( I am just kind of fascinated by it) So obviously I am just grabbing bits and pieces from other sites and re-writing as much as I can. How can I go about getting daily information without blindly searching on the internet? Although everyone might be 'talking' about the same thing. I would feel a lot better if I could find a way to get the information as early as possible and from the source more or less other than, just re-writing whats already out there.

The site is here

Also if anyone had any good ideas for what kind of information/product/e-book I could give away so that I could start learning more about email opt in list and managing my email list software, I would appreciate it.

This is really all about getting a system down to make things easier in the future when I decide to find a different maybe more profitable niche.

Thanks in advance

You can get plugins that add related post links either automatically or manually. A free one in the Wordpress plugin library is Yet Another Related Post (YARP).

You can also add a widget to the side bar for 'recent posts' or 'most popular posts'.

For sites that mix product reviews with information articles, you can make the monetized reviews easily accessible from a "Most Popular Reviews' widget in the sidebar.

You can also manually add text links in the body of your article. I think you can proibably find a plugin to automatically inter-link keywords.

Most 'related post' plugins will let you link to any article, old or new.

You can mix between deep links (articles) and the home page. As you get more traffic you can make effective use of resoruces by targeting those pages and keywords that are bringing traffic to your site.

Check your site statistics to see what keywords are sending people to your site and which articles are getting the most views. Those are the keywords and articles you should do more SEO work on.

You can do a number of things to keep current sources of information.

When searching, you can use "more options" and choose 'in the last 30 days' or other parameter to see more recent content in the SERPs

You can add your keywords to "Google Alerts" and get new information as it is published to teh web. This can get crazy, so best if you are targeting something very specific like your name or product name. Setting a Google alert for 'microsoft tablet' may get an avalanche of alerts.

You can use Google reader to set up folders of RSS feeds. Find your favourite sites and blogs and add their RSS feeds. There is also RSS feed management tools to make this easier.

Good freebies would be ebooks with tips and tricks for tablets, tweaking, security or recovery guides. Maybe find a PLR app you can brand and make available for download.

Look and see what sites similar to yours are offering for their opt-ins.
