is the answer zero?

like the one about if there are 3 birds sitting on a fence and you shoot one of them, how many birds are left on the fence? (zero, cuz the other two got scared and flew away :rolleyes

I don't know much about the structural integrity of lily pads and if they can support other frogs if one jumps off, but I suspect the answer may be zero.

There are 6 frogs...5 on the lilly pad and one in the water. I'm guessing most will say 5 meaning they have a small mentality...who knows if I'm right though b/c I'm AWFUL at riddles...lol they entertain me but if I had a dollar for every riddle I'd got wrong...I wouldn't be in internet marketing

This one of those riddles that high-lights limited thinking and sloppy questioning.

OK - so 6 frogs are sitting on a lilly pad. How many frogs are NOT sitting on the lilly pad but in the immediate vicinity? Frogs will rarely expose themselves for a significant length of time so, someone like myself, who loves to watch these fascinating creatures, would look in the water around the lilly pad to see how many frog eyes were discernable. It is also obvious that some frogs may well be totally concealed so the correct answer to the question is "All of them".

I could really be pedantic and ask "Left of what?"

My thinking is either warped, or its just late and I should go to bed...I thought the answer was one - one frog left the lily pad. :rolleyes:

You can't say for sure how many are left ... unless you know how many are right .. right?

It's obvious. They're all "left". They'd have to be communist/socialist to all share the same pad.

There's 0 frogs left. Why? Because they've all jumped off now. Harry isn't even in the same pond. He completed his life long dream of moving to yonder pond. So the moral of the story is don't drink too much coffee otherwise you'll be talking nonsense by 12.00.

Before I answer your question Eric, what other
environmental conditions are there?

• Is there just one lily pad?
• Are there any alligators?
• How deep is the water?
• What are the benefits of leaving the lily pad?
• Is there any danger in leaving the lily pad?
• Is the lily pad valuable real estate?

The frog that decided to leave may have made a
bad decision of there's only one lily pad. The frog
that controls the lily pad could make a fortune if
she offered space for rent with a continuity prog.

then a hurricane came through and carried off two of the frogs who hadn't decided anything at all.

They landed in a nearby dairy farmer's buckets of fresh milk.

One of the frogs decided he was going to kick his legs and get out

but each few kicks landed him back to the bottom of the bucket and

In the next bucket over, Freddy the frog continued to kick and experience the inevitable gravitational pull that keeps so many from reaching their goals.

At the bottom of the bucket, he kept kicking.

Freddy's legs were now throbbing from the muscles which had been strained.

It also felt like he was using muscles he didn't even knew existed before the milk bucket.

Night fell and although every muscle in his body was begging Freddy to quit kicking

and while it seemed impossible on the outside, something within Freddy said, "Just keep kicking."

Well, you know how the story goes.

The next morning, farmer Brown wakes at the cock-a-doodle-doo

and walks outside to see something strange.

In one of his milk buckets, there was...a dead frog.

In the other, a pair of frog footprints on top of the butter he could have sworn

he hadn't churned yesterday.

He couldn't figure out which was stranger.

The fact that the dead frog must have jumped on the butter

before landing in the milk bucket

or that the butter was churned already.

He decided it didn't make much difference though.

After all it was another day dawned

and so time to...

because it is pretty clear in the question that one among the 6 frogs decided to jump but not yet jumped.i still believe its in on the same lily pad.

My answer would have been 5 not thinking the frog only decided to jump and never really left the lily pad. I can understand the meaning of it though. Thats why I am actually trying to put my ideas to work. Thanks for the brain exercise.

I guess I can accept the fact that 6 frogs are left, but it's hard for me as an elementary school teacher to admit that 6 - 1 = 5. I suspect that the other five convinced him to stay safe and secure on the lily pad and not take the risk. We all know that there is risk in trying a business. Others will try to talk us out of even trying.

I saw this and i remember a quote I read from Woody Allen once where he stated '80 percent of success is showing up'

And i've found that's fairly true in most things.

Dammit, I tried this riddle when I was small. And I knew the answer... but the problem is I am not rich yet...

There are still six frogs

There is one frog who shows initiative and self motivation

There are five frogs waiting to see if swimming is safe

If frog #1 swims away from the lily pad successfully, the other five will follow

and there will still be six frogs.

6 frogs are left. Just because 1 frog "decided" to jump off
doesn't mean that he did it.

The world is full of people who talk a big talk about what they
are going to do but never take much effective action to make
it happen.

Taking action is messy, risky, uncomfortable, and sometimes
results in humiliating lessons. It's no wonder people are scared
to really do stuff.
