Do You Blog More When People Leave Comments?

For me, yes and no. I'm not going to turn them away, unless its spam.

What about you. Do You Blog More When People Leave Comments?

Personally, for me no - when I want to blog I'll blog .. or if I have a specific plan of when i'm going to blog (I usually do this closer to the initial launch of a blog).

The more comments the better though, unless they're spam though.

I have been a little lazy when it comes to posting blog content, but now and then I set a 30 day challenge and write 1 blog post each day for the 30 days. Usually though, i just write when i feel like it. My traffic doesn't come from SEO and 90% of the time it's sent to a landing page. I usually have comments turned off on my websites anyway

Nope. I consistently make 1 new blog post everyday. I used to get so many spam comments that i just totally turned it off. My backend customers enjoy it though.

I would say you could stick to your regular blogging schedule UNLESS your readers/visitors request more of what you gave them.

However, if you want to build more of a relationship with them and more rapport, it would be wise to reply to their comments in the comment section and become more interactive with them.

Regular posting frequency. Unless I started getting decent comments on a daily basis.

      • I'm not really sure what you're asking.

If people were asking for help in the comment, I respond right there rather than creating a new blog post.

Does getting comments inspire me to blog? No, not really. Many of the comments are from Fiverr sellers and are self-promotional. I allow them if they're not promoting anything harmful.

I have three or four topics in my blog queue and really should write about them, but with over 300 posts on the blog it's no longer imperative to post every day. (Though I sometimes get complaints if a regular reader doesn't find anything new.)

I don't blog more when I have comments, but I do read all the comments and many times I'll reply to them. I do get some spam comments - I send them the trash bin.

not really, and of course ignore/trash the spam. the more important thing is to respond and get a good conversation/feedback going .

Yes, because I am thankful people like what I say and I reward them and me by adding more important content.

  • It depends on the feedback they give, if its completely irrelevant best place for them is trash.

No - I make one blog post per day on my blogs and like most others here I turned my comments off as well.

  • I am guilty of not posting enough, and comments do not encourage me. I also moderate all comments as I think that spam comments devaluate my site and create a "nobody at home" impression.

Number count is irrelevant. If you have great content people will try to engage with you somehow.

Having to deal with spam is not a justifiable reason for turning off your comments on your blog. That would actually be like shooting yourself on the foot.

Install Akismet, get an API key from wordpress.com and then install the GrowMap Anti-Spambot Plugin (G.A.S.P.)

Both are free solutions and will maintain your spam comments down to a minimum.

Also go to your wordpress dashboard and inside Settings/Discussion make sure to select mark the checkbox for "Before a comment appears... Comment author must have a previously approved comment".

That way you ensure that a spam comment will never make it to the actual comment thread unless you have approved a previous comment from a spammer of course.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I usualy post twice a week on my first blog and on my new blog which I just started there are only two posts but I think the comments don't make me post more.
But who knows maybe in the future they will if there will be a great amounts of comments and good quality.

    Thanks Erwin.
