Who do you use to buy domain names?

godaddy.com
namecheap.com

I've used godaddy for a few years, so its my main source of domains.

I wanted to try namecheap the other day because of its low cost privacy option. A couple domains I wanted to get were showing errors, while I was able to get them using godaddy.com.

Next time I want to get a cdomain I may try namecheap again. but occasionally godaddy has .99 cent domain sales going on.

I've been using NameCheap for over a year now...but I've used GoDaddy when they have codes and/or I want to pickup the free .infos. I got 16 domains from GoDaddy (.com, .net, .info) last week for $60 or so total...you just gotta shop it around. I picked up 3 from register.com last month for $3 total.

Why had no idea namecheap was so cheap.

I've been using godaddy for awhile, since they market like there is no tomorrow so that is the only domain registry I knew of.

I'm currently buying most of my domains from 1and1. They're 99cents.

good rep?
godaddy doesn't even go by icann or any rules lol. they figure since they are big they can do what they want. many issues i had with godaddy. I had to file against them with icann to get results. just because something is cheap doesn't always mean its good.

Namecheap hands down.

And I have used GoDaddy, 1&1, Enom, Register and a few others.

It's not just the price, it's the features.

They are fast (dns update took less than 10 minutes and I have that on video from a recent experiment I did), reliable, easy to work with, it's just superior.

I used to use GoDaddy because they were really cheap but I switched to Namecheap after a while and now I use them religiously. They're a little more expensive then GoDaddy but they don't hammer you with ads and upsells when you are checking out (which gets annoying when you buy a lot of domains) and they also offer free whois privacy.

Plus they weren't pro-SOPA (unlike GoDaddy)!

Yes, their interface are full with upsells/ offers. It's very complicated. I think, they have offers in every pages of the site

Their interface really has a lot of options and links.

With Godaddy you will get lot of discounts the year round for new domain registration.
But their renewal charges have no discount and sometimes a few cents more than the others.

Hi! I have only been doing this for a few years, but (as stated above) Godaddy is a great way to go. I always search for a coupon code (I hate paying full price when I know I can get a discount), and often times they have free or cheap additional websites you can pick up to support your money site.

I just do a google search for godaddy coupons and there is always ads from different registrars for their 99c domains. The lowest price wins.

Namecheap. Domains load quickly after transferring to a host. Well, that was my experienced. GoDaddy took over 10 minutes.

I'm curious about 1&1 because they're .coms are so cheap. Will give it a try some other time.

I noticed the price on Godaddy says around $15. for 10 years. Does that mean you don't have to renew for 10 years and basically pay $1.50 a year?

This where I buy most of them. There hasnt never been a problem. The domain points fast. They host and alll that other stuff, but I get my domains from them.

$1.99 Cheap Domain Registration and Domain Website Hosting

1.99 for .info

8.99 for .com .net .org that just went up .... it was 7.99 before but still cheap!

3.99 for .us if your into those

GoDaddy's been pretty good for me, easy to manage many domains. But domain management is all I would ever use it for. The other services like hosting are really terrible. But the advice is to use seperate a domain registrar and hosting service anyway.

I always search the domain name through Bustaname.com, if the domain name is available, you can get it with discount through a choice of 9 registrars. From the 9 registrars, I normally end up with either GoDaddy or Namecheap depends who is cheaper.

I went to GoDaddy from a mob called Setup In Seconds. GD were about a third of the price.

I like the level of service I've had from GD. They've been excellent, which sometimes is just what you want!

I've got 53 sites registered with Godaddy though a fair few are not active, impulsive domain purchases after finding discount coupons. Make sure to unset auto renewal if you dont want to be hit with full cost renewal fees when you can find renewal coupons around.

I only use Namecheap now. Still have some at Godaddy, but will never 'Go' again with them. If you let a domain name lapse there they have an evil reactivation policy during the 'Redemption Period' - you will pay the normal price plus $80 to 'redeem' it. Shocking. And, if that domain has value, you could find it later appearing for sale at a premium price in their auctions list. Happened to two of mine

Namecheap on the other hand are brilliant, and they have monthly discount coupons for new registrations. (PS: Hosting with GoDaddy is also no good - no C-Panel)

Don't forget go daddys magical disappearing domain act and the fact that their system magically forgets to send notices that domains will be coming up for renewal, while also making your domain disappear from your list in their system. oh, and lets not forget that they don't abide by icann and if you have any issues you will have to file claims against them.

I'm with namecheap now and would recommend them or enom.

I'm thinking maybe we should start asking these folks who love godaddy so much some serious questions.

How long have you been purchasing domains?
How long have you been hosting your domains?
Are you on drugs? lol
When you see an event, do you sometimes change what you saw to match what everyone else saw?
Do you wear Glasses?
Do you work for GoDaddy?

Can you read?
Do you even know how many domains you have?
Do you actually use the domains you own?
Do you believe that the facebooks creator, created fb in his dorm room?
Do you believe that fb has close to a billion users?
Are you wearing an Orange Jumpsuit with a Smiley

on the back?

You can buy domains .com for $1,99 at Yahoo Domain. This price for first time only. Use coupon : YDMCALL

But for large domain I prefer godaddy. The trick for cheap price is coupon.

But I think Godaddy is mos trusted for domains....... I always buy domains from them... and host them to hostgator or Rackspace.

As a developer I had to work on different hosting so I always choose f=the best hosting for mine... you can trust me..those are best I ever experienced....

Hi,

I use "The Domain Name Center". It's exactly how you spell it if you search for it in Google. It looks like a reseller but I've used them for years. In fact they appear to be a GoDaddy reseller with better prices than GoDaddy at times. The DNS control is more extensive than other registrars I've used. I've also used Netfirms but prefer this provider.

They give you privacy protection with every purchase, unlike pretty much everyone else... That means they will show up as the 'contact' for the domain, in the WHOIS listing.

I'm in the UK so always buy my .co.uk domains from 1&1 as they are generally much cheaper than anywhere else. If I'm buying a .com then I used to use bluehost but since I host there I started a policy of buying on a different provider and then repointing, so have been fairly impressed with godaddy for that.

I have hundreds of domain names, and things just get too complicated if I deal with more than one registrar.

When I had some others, I forgot what was where, and ended up losing the domains.

So now it's all in one place, and if you have lots of domains, they give you a personal account rep (they're very nice and helpful!) plus special renewal rates that make it very much worth my while to stick with them.

I like Namecheap for domain registration, it's quick and easy and there aren't loads of upsells that you get with GoDaddy.
Have used 1&1 when I had hosting with them.

I always go with Namecheap & specifically with name.com when I do have requirements for bulk domain purchasing...

Name dot com offers a great featured options to buy domains & get them registered easily / quickly in very affordable pricing.. I recently found domains in just $3 & less too...

namecheap but I find my domains through Domain Suggestions | Find Domain Names | DomainTools

That is not an affiliate link by the way. I don't use them here..

Now I won't lie, like tonight I needed a new domain for cb products so I searched for them on domain suggestions, then I bought on network solutions cause they have a 3.95 sale on .com's but in a couple of months which I send myself a reminder through gmail, I transfer them to namecheap.

I use namecheap.com, they are cheap and easy to use with all of the features you will need.

Years ago when first starting in IM I used godaddy but the sheer number of upsells in their registration process is ridiculous and when I had an issue I found their customer service to be practically non-existent.

I use both Namecheap and Godaddy as well. They both have specific things that I like too, some of which have already been mentioned.

I like Namecheap because they have low cost domains and one year of privacy per domain.

I like GoDaddy because they have lots of discount/renewal codes, they're a local company and using them pumps money into my local economy and I can easily forward my domain email addresses without having to use their hosting. Namecheap requires that you use their hosting to do this.

Example, if I bought the domain Red Widget Home Page and wanted to set up an email address that was joe@redwidgets.com I could do that at Godaddy, but Namecheap requires that you have a hosting account with them to do it. That stinks because I use a Hostgator reseller account.

Oh well. :-)

I still use both, but it depends on what I'm using the domain for.

It basically comes down to the control panel you like best. Beyond that and a buck or two price difference, it doesn't really matter. Just stay away from the resellers.

My favorites:

GoDaddy
Name.com
Moniker

DO NOT use 1and1. Too many horror stories. The lamest being that they will turn you over to a collection agency for letting your domains expire. If you turn off auto renew but do not cancel the domain or something in some other area, they expect you to renew manually. If you don't, that's going on your credit report.
