You Could Make Money From This..

They say "a picture is worth a thousand words" and
a lot of information products could be so much better
if they included relevant images to add emphasis to
the content.

Finding pictures and adding them to your ebook can
be a tedious task and, being a lazy kind of person, it's
the sort of task that I would happily outsource.

I haven't seen anyone offer such a service. As it doesn't
require any specific talent, other than the ability to find
good quality royalty free images and to work with
OpenOffice or Word, it could be a great opportunity for
some folks to make quick cash.

Anyone willing to jump off the lily pad and make it happen?

John

    Very true, John.

In fact, I make a point of telling people my books are "fully illustrated". I would think it adds to the conversion (but I haven't tested the hypothesis)

Not sure I'd pay someone to do it for me...but then I'm not rolling in the green stuff like you

Images in ebooks can really help especially in the sales. Some would find it boring to read when there's no images and pictures. There are various different customers, so being more creative and innovative with your services can boost the loyalty of your customers.

      Hi John,

Not on the subject of providing a service or anything, but in general -

I like to use bigstockphoto.com. They generally cost £1 per image for the smaller versions (they're actually quite big.)

A while back (quite a while actually) when I was starting out building my personal IM sites, I liked to use a load of photos on my pages to do just what you are talking about - give visuals to make the point. I still like to do this (as you once commented about RE - my own photos).

I found one graphic artist who had a style I particularly liked who uploaded a ton of his work to the stock photo site. So I researched all of his work on there, and picked the ones I liked the most and developed a 'theme' to my pages/logos.

It wasn't long afterwards that I noticed certain top gurus using some of the same images on/in their new sites/logos/ebooks. Coincidence? Who knows...

I also got a fair bit of traffic from all of the image 'scraping' sites like google images etc.

I'm in the process of putting my IM sites back into use and I plan to use the stock photo site AND my own photos a heck of a lot - so you just stole my thunder and p****d on my fireworks Kidding.

I also like to use snag-it to show images of things I am trying to describe - it's actually quicker to say - 'click this one' and put the image there than to say 'click the button on the left, just below the box, in between the blah-blah....'

Plus it breaks up long passages of eye-straining text and subconsciously gives the reader a cue to have a break, put the kettle on, and come back and start reading from just below the image of....

Here's a quick example -post #1 -recent thread

There's at least one smart Warrior who's already
jumped on this. I know because he sent me a PM
with an offer to add images to my next ebook!

    I love this forum!

You might want to think about watermarking the ones you take
yourself. I had a few of mine taken from a site I hadn't locked up.
I considered it a compliment as I wasn't really harmed.

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

This is an example of the images I create for my reports (I've sacrificed quality for image size in this screenshot example so it downloads quicker):

If anybody wants this type of image for their reports, PM me and we can discuss your requirements.

    Hi John:

Great thought! Good morning as well.

As an author it is interesting how the mind works. I provided an infinite amount fo photos to enhance the written content of my rock and roll books but didn't think about using the same ideals for an E-book.

Two reasons come to mind. We have been conditioned to look at the internet products as text only and it may be harder to actually think of the proper photos to use with the text in the marketing arena than to actually find the photos.

Another reason that you haven't seen the pictures is the word MONEY. Once you have an idea for the picture it isn't always available as free content. The photo costs on the Jefferson Airplane book could have been a down payment for a car.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!

    Great Idea John!

Stock photo sites are great, and the one that ExRat mentioned, I have some of my photos (Royalty Free Photos, Download Stock Photos and Images stock photo download royalty free ) there too, along with several on Fotolia.com ( Search photos: by: Carol Wingert )

I would like to see if Lulu.com has a program for me to upload some of my photos for book covers. Mr Twenty Twenty (my husband)used one of mine for his bookcover.
( Awaken and Soar - The Adventures of Jumping Mouse by Twenty Twenty (Book) in Self-Improvement )

The Mastermind Ebook that Twenty Twenty was selling also has one of my favorite photo on the sales page. ( Five Star Mastermind System by Twenty Twenty )

Sorry, I got carried away. Anyway, I do think photos/graphic would sell the product much better!

Would agree that images in ebooks can really help in illustrating points to customers and boost sales at the same time. Some prefer images to assist with their reading and find it boring when there's no images and pictures. Applying your own creativity to the presentation of your product can boost the loyalty of your customers if it comes in a nice wrapping paper!

Pictures, images and diagrams are very important when it comes to conversions.

Whether it is used on sales page or reports, it always improve the attention retention rate of users. I for one dislike only reading chunks of text without images, pictures and illustrations. Maybe it's just me, or the majority.
