Is it just me or is it everywhere?

"One WEIRD trick that made six pack abs"
"A Weird trick to have a 400% return on your portfolio"
"One weird trick to drive 1,000's of visitors to your website"
"One weird trick to make your site go viral"

Did i miss the memo?

Actually, the term weird is rather an old one, I remember it being extremely popular in the 70's.

I guess like with everything else, if you wait around long enough, it'll be vogue again.

    That's a weird question.

Theirs a secret society that studies and worships the whole concept of weirdness. They've been around since the beginning of civilization. They're called... weirdos.

  • Personally, I hate those low brow, over-saturated ads.

I gave in once and clicked on them to see what they were actually selling.

I had to click through 3 or 4 pages of BS and never actually found out what they're selling.

Great content can turn your website into a GOLDMINE.

So why are you are paying for lame copy that just lays there?

Been noticing that too lately. I think it has to do with an uncontrollable urge to see that which is weird.

Really weird when you think about it.

Can't remember who, or all the details, but about a year ago a marketer mentioned the success he was having with that line on an ad. Seems like the average dum consumer still falls for it.

I suppose what is weird to one isn't weird to another thus weird is in the eye of the beholder, as is beauty.

Now this is something I find weird!

"Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets and then teams up with three complete stangers to kill again." -- TV listing for the movie, The Wizard of Oz, in the Marin Paper.

These phrases..they just didn't piqued my interest to click or read on about what they had to offer. So I think "weird" isn't a powerful word to use in marketing.
