Sales page or confirmation after filling out squeeze page?

Hey warriors

Just wanted to pick your brain about something which probably is quite basic.

I have a squeeze page for a product I am promoting. Once a user fills out their email address on the page, it opens the Aweber ' please confirm your subscription' page as I have set it to that.

Is this what you would recommend? If for example, I am providing the user with a free video, once they fill out the details on the squeeze page, is it better to direct them straight to the video, or ask them to confirm their email first before directing them to it?

I look at it this way. If I direct them straight to the video, there is a small chance I will make a sale. But then there is a chance they may never check their email after that and confirm, which means I lose out on a new member to my list. If I direct them to the confirmation page, there is a chance they may not even confirm it (because they were expecting to see the video) and I could lose out on a potential future customer again.

I would really appreciate your advice and insight into what has worked for you before.

Thanks!

It really depends upon what your MAIN goal is.

If it's to build a list of confirmed subscribers, then direct
them to a page that focuses them on going to their inbox
to click on the confirmation link.

If your main goal is to make short term sales, then direct
them to the sales page immediately after subscription.

By the way, with AWeber, you can use single opt-in for
new lists so you remove the need for confirmation all
    together.

vikky, this is exactly the situation that most people face when building a list

firstly i now always only use single opt in weather im using a OTO (one time offer) or not

i do this because so many people don`t end up confirming and you lose a lot of subscribers

some of the people may just be lazy and not confirm but some also may not know how to confirm as crazy as it sounds, no matter what you tell them

having your OTO on the next page after they have opted in is the best way to go if your wanting to build buyers, get higher conversions and make more sales

if you show your offer at any later stage then your conversions will generally be lower because there are more hoops that you have to send someone through, which lowers conversions

also, using single opt in you may get the odd fake email address and that does happen because they don`t have to confirm but the flip side is that you can still make a OTO sale and add them to your buyers list

Or as an alternative, set up a custom made confirmation page. And pre-sell the product you're promoting.

    Thanks everyone!

I think at this point I want to get some sales, as I have spent a fair bit of money trying to build a list with solo ads. Sales have been few, but would always be great to get more :-). Plan to put the money back into building the list more.

Once again, thanks for the advice.
