Amazon affiliate is one of the easiest way for a newbie to start learning and making money with affiliate marketing.

Amazon.com is a very well-known brand. People trust Amazon, so their products are easier to sell and you can get better sales conversion compared to selling digital products like Clickbank.

As long as you target proper "buying terms" and attract visitors who are late in the buying cycle, you can do very well. I do exactly this and I earn a SIGNIFICANT monthly income as an Amazon Associate and it only takes me an hour or so per day.

Thanks for the reply, have some questions:

One hour per day? What are you doing there? Both building, maintaining and doing SEO for several sites? How many sites do you have and are they all review sites?

I spend anywhere from an hour to two hours per day building sites and adding product reviews. I don't do SEO (don't have to). They are all review sites (about 10 of them).

Respectfully I'm not sure you'll get the appropriate Amazon training for $5.

I'd also recommend building a business on sites you own.

Of course, who will share "expensive" tricks for US$5. But, I think it's good step for him to know where to start, how to start, when to start etc

            You're right actually.

For $5 it will at least give a grounding in it and from there they can decide what they want to do.

I do think however, if you decide to take it seriously, you'd better of having it on a domain you own.

It's bland (not a money site of mine) but I use this to demo my Amazon products:

Even without any sprucing up (just throw together for demonstrations), it shows how I do things.

Amazon is a trusted site worldwide and most shoppers will use the Amazon website in their buying cycle.Non internet users, that's most buyers, want hassle free and secure. So send them to the main Amazon site as soon as possible, then let the Amazon sales machine go to work for you. Once somebody as bought, they get the follow up emails etc. Start with some low priced items to get your commissions rate increased

Amazon associate is a great way to start your affiliate earning. Amazon is well known and trusted by everyone, people are more willing to spend in there. Don't be surprise if your earning from products not related to your site earn more than related products. I always see sales that are totally unrelated to my site niche. With a wide range of products, people will go into buy mode when they enter Amazon.
The bad thing is the 24hrs cookie and the low commission rates. But it is still very worth it as people tends to buy more often in Amazon than in other unknown merchant sites.

    Pros:

--Wide range of physical and digital products including books, dvds, cds and just about anything else you can think of.

    --Best conversion rates

--You get a commission for any other products they end up buying from Amazon, even if completely unrelated to the product you're promoting. Also customers will tend to multi-buy to minimize delivery costs - so more earnings for you.

    Cons:

--Very low commission rate (4-6%) so you need to sell high volume or high cost products to make it worth your while.

--Have to sign up to each areas Associate Program separately, which is a pain.

    Hi "Kragsig":

Pros: Amazon does a GREAT job of up-selling before the checkout. And, you can get a commission on a product you didn't even promote! This works well during Christmas times.

They are a trusted name so people DO buy.

Cons: Commission are relatively small percentage wise. You'd have to make a lot of sales or promote big ticket items.

They also pay you around 2 months later, but, they DO pay.

    I would say, sign up!
