Welcome to the Warrior Forum. The thing is that when it comes to making money online, there's more than one route you can take. With this said, I prefer niche blogging, where you create a blog around a particular niche like dating, weight loss, video games, sports. make money...The key is to find a niche market that's both profitable and one you have an interest in. You then write product reviews and articles on stuff related to your niche.

You get traffic from the search engines. It's also standard to build a list of buyers using an opt-in form (how the gurus to make so many sales in such a short period of time). This method has pretty much become the standard and allows you to generate residual income, work around your own schedule, earn money by writing things you like and more.

    Good luck,
    Joey

    Hello and Welcome.

Starting out can be quite daunting, there are many people out there who will promise you everything from "make a million in a month" to "earn $5000 a day with Adsense", well there may be a few people out there that do make this sort of money they most certainly did not start like that. You have to learn from the beginning, its not difficult there is just a process involved. You should be in it for the long haul - if you apply the techniques and methods that work you will be fine. I have just developed a 6-part course for newbies on the basics of Internet Marketing right up to how to earn revenue form your site - feel free to head over to my blog to take a look.....

Treat it like any business or education. You will have to put the time in and dedication, try to be as creative as possible!.. Just don't try and get into the frame of mind were you think you need your hand held!.

Do some reading on here, start a project on what you think is interesting and go from there.

Welcome to the Warrior Forum. ;-)

There's a LOT here that will help you understand but just as you said, it can be overwhelming.

Read to find out what are the most common ways to make money online and once you have decided what would suit your needs, then go for it.

Sorry to have such an empty answer but this is quite a big question, follow the threads you were given and be prepared to roll up your sleeves...

    Hello khai89,

It's good to know that you have the willingness to learn. Your mere asking is a good way to start. There's far more advice that you could get by simply using the 'Search' feature of this forum. That's what we often do. If we can't find the exact answer to our questions, then, we ask our fellow Warriors, just like what you did.

Focus on one thing. I have struggled to do this over the past year and my success has suffered becuase of it. List building is my suggestion. Once I started focusing on this I was able to make my first dollar.

Pick 3 areas of interest and do a google search to see if there are any google paid ads for your interest. Take a look at the products that are selling. Apply to be an affiliate of one of the products you like and try the various methods for selling it. Buy some traffic and see if it converts.

The trick is keep tesing untill you find an offer that converts. Stay simple.

Well, youd need firm decisions first, not excuses, no but and no procrastination.

Forget about "quick cash methods", they don't exist and you have to WORK to make money online.

Pick up ONE thing and FOCUS on it.

I would start with list building.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you NOT to study traffic generation techniques.
We have too many newbies on this forum obsessed with traffic.

When big businesses market they segment or divide the marketing process into various different stages. Ideally a professional will handle each stage of the process.

This is why imo if you want to do marketing "properly", there is A LOT of information you need to know. A lot of experience you need to have. Don't fool yourself into thinking there is any way around this.

Say you DO in fact focus on one thing. Maybe you choose facebook. So you make a few fan pages, then attempt to drive people from facebook to your landing page.

Maybe people DO wind up going to your landing page. But you discover 2 things. First there is very few people going to your website, second, nobody is buying your ****.

Why? Well this is just my opinion, but you only focused on ONE THING.

Which was building a landing page and using it to move people to your website. However, you likely didn't focus on how to write good copy. You probably have no fundmental understanding of psychological theory, or nlp. Or social psychology, behavoiral psychology, etc etc. Anything related to the art of persuasion and leading peoples thoughts/actions.

I think in marketing you can never focus on just one thing to really succeed. In the learning stage you focus on one thing to make it easier to learn. When you apply these things you better know what each stage is for and how to execute them properly. People mean "focus on one thing" in more of a figurative way, not in a literal sense. Like you SHOULD focus on just one method of marketing. Again, perhaps its facebook, maybe youtube. But you still need to learn all the various things that are required to monetize a fan page. It is ALWAYS more than "one thing" that you are learning here.

There are other fundamental pieces of the equation that can NOT go neglected. How many marketers can succeed by focusing soley on traffic generation techniques?

I doubt many. My main point here is far too many people seem concerned with the wrong things on this forum. Probably because they're the easiest to learn. Learning what makes people tick, or all the subtle forces that influence peoples behavoir, THAT is where the money is at imo. Its got to be the most difficult thing to learn as well.

What really seperates you from someone like Frank Kern? He uses the same techniques a lot of marketers do, but he does them a million times better. I believe this has a lot to do with his background in face to face sales. In sales you quickly learn how to distinguish yourself from the rest. If you don't, you will starve. You learn what everyone else is doing, what they're saying, and you make it your mission to be NOTHING LIKE THEM. I know very little about the technical sides of traffic generation/seo/ppc, but so far I've had fairly decent results in most things I've tried. I think this has everything to do with the fact that I'm obsessed with people. More than I could ever be with marketing. Anytime you see a talented marketer on this forum making money (alexa smith, joe robinson, etc etc) you'll notice they are VERY GOOD with people.

That always seems to be the one thing that seperates the best from the rest of the crowd.

Its the reason I got my degree in psychology and didn't have a single class on business/marketing. I see so many people on here who have serious issues with something as simple as a phone call. It boggles my mind. So wait, you want to get involved in marketing, and you want people to give you their money.. but you can't even pick up a phone and make a call?

Surely you can become successful w/out talking to people, but you can become that much more successful by getting over yourself now. Don't let a fragile ego rob you from all the opportunities in this world. The more you can do in life, the more versatile you are as a person, the more of an asset you make yourself.

Learn lots of things deeply. Adopt a full understanding of every stage of the marketing process. If you can't pay people to do things you absolutely know need to be done, then LEARN how to do them yourself. Ignoring any individual stage of the marketing process WILL always come back to bite you in the ass. Maybe you'll get lucky here and there, but you'll never have consistent success imo.

1st You need to understand the selling online is a "lot different from selling offline."

People online make up there minds whether or not to stick around in about 2 seconds.

I would read " The Irresistable Offer" by Mark Joyner and learn how to SELL!

Also... "How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling" by Frank Bettger

Then I would think about what area of selling or what PRODUCT I want to sell online.

I would build a blog and name the URL the name of the product and write articles (outsource) and have them distributed (outsource). I would use press releases to drive targeted traffic to my blog... an THE MOST IMPORTANT thing is to BUILD YOUR LIST and don't try to sell them a bunch of unrelated products. Make offers only related to your blog topic.

    Read the books FIRST!!!

And treat your online business like a business and don't jump on every HOT TOPIC and GET RICH QUICK scheme thrown at you on this forum.

If you lose focus, it will take you YEARS to make a CONSISTENT INCOME online.

    Cheers!!!

Basically... no matter what you sell, you will want to:

    1) Find a hot niche
    2) See if the demand exists
    3) If the demand exists, find or create a product
    4) Create a squeeze page
    5) Create a sales page
    6) Drive traffic to your squeeze page or sales page (depending on price and strength of sales letter)
    7) Get sale
    8) Put them into your backend marketing funnel
    9) Repeat
    10) Get something to eat
