Article Syndication Doubts

Hi all,

These days I have concentrated to do 'Article Syndication' for all of my websites, BUT before start doing, I still have some queries,I will be glad if you guyz clear me:

Actually I already read 'alexa smith' posts and some other guyz gr8 posts here and i really gained lot of knowledge with their Awesome Posts! Im vm thankful to them!

Here they are:
-----------------------

a) When we post our exact same post from our website into ezine, why does people copy-paste exactly our ezine article into their website? Dont they know that Google will not show their website in search results as its a dupe content in their website?

b) What if people just copy-pasted our ezine article into their website (BY REMOVING OUR RESOURCE BOX) , so how do we approach them and ask them to keep our website link in their post?

c) HOw do I approach (via google) related websites and ask them to syndicate my content in their website?

d) HOw can I use this 'Article Syndication' process for my 'Service Based websites' and 'Ecommerce based websites' ? (Since they're NOT just general articles). In my ecommerce websites, I just put Title and below that Products will be displayed, so how do I syndicate this? and Even how do I syndicate 'service based websites? ' (say 'article writing service' or 'seo service' ?

e) Can I Just exactly copy paste someone else posts into some directories and I keep my link at the bottom ? Ofcourse I just submit to only few directories.. Is that wrong doing so like that? (ofcourse it seeems like a blackhat, but this is just my doubt...)

Im Sorry if I asked any stupid questions...

Waiting for replies...

Thanks!

I used to publish a lot of stuff to free sites but not on EZA. People used to take my whole articles and put it on their site while removing my links, so I quit using them. This was back when I used free sites exclusively. I used them for a while when I started my own blog and noticed it didn't happen like before. I guess the person (or people) was aware of the duplicate content penalty.

Once my blog got big enough and started getting backlinks naturally, I stopped using article directories all together. Nowadays, when two blogs are involved, most people just know to use trackbacks since they are beneficial to both parties. One person gets content for their blog while the other gets some traffic since there is a link to their site on the other person's blog.

Ya I was thinking the same thing... Its mere a time and money waste of ours if people just copy-paste our ezine article y removing our resource box..

and I head Trackbacks or Pingbacks or spammy, Am I wrong?

Most people don't remove the author bio, but there are a lot who just link back to the article on EZA.

I use syndicated articles on my sites including the author bio, add images, videos, an introduction, my thoughts after it. The pages aren't duplicates but they are more interesting.

For me it's about visitor experience not whether Google will index the pages or not. I want the visitors to get good information, stay interested and on my sites longer. That improves my bounce rates and that's what Google wants so your site benefits overall and not just one page.

This thread isn't about SEO, Hadassah.

It's about article syndication - that isn't part of SEO. Article syndication is a method of generating targeted traffic without SEO. But, for the record, you've confused "duplicate content" and "syndicated content" anyway. The difference is explained here: Article Marketers – Lay the Duplicate Content Myth To Rest Once and For All - Internet Marketing and Publishing Blog

Also, what you're talking about had absolutely nothing to do with the Panda or Penguin updates, either. It was true (though not as you've described it) long before the Panda updates of 2011; and the more recent Penguin update was about penalizing overoptimization.

      Because they want content.

That's why article directories exist - to provide "available articles" for people who need content.

Originally Posted by gillw254 View Post

      First, that isn't always true.

Secondly, it isn't "dupe content" - it's syndicated content (the difference is explained here: Article Marketers – Lay the Duplicate Content Myth To Rest Once and For All - Internet Marketing and Publishing Blog ).

Thirdly, they don't care about Google's search results. Not everyone is a marketer!

And even many marketers don't depend on Google for their traffic, anyway. Including all the people using article syndication. We don't depend on Google for our traffic. The whole point - and strength - of article marketing is that it's a way of attracting targeted traffic without depending on search engines.

This post explains that principle, in some detail: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

      Email is the best way.

I have a standard, pre-written email and I just have to fill in the blanks and send it to them, asking them to put my website link back.

If I can't find their email address on their site, I just sent it to "admin" and "info" and "support" at theirsite.com. It usually reaches them.

Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't really matter, either way.

If it doesn't work, I can always send a DMCA notice to their host, in which case their site will be taken down for breach of copyright. (I don't often bother to do this, actually, because they're not usually doing me any harm).

These sites are often crappy autoblogs owned by people who have little idea what they're doing, and you can just ignore them anyway. Most of them will disappear on their own.

The point is that this is unimportant. It doesn't do you any harm.

"Via Google" is possible, but limiting. (You seem very keen on Google, for someone asking about article marketing? :p )

      Here are some suggestions ...

      Ezine publishers:
Directory of Ezines (excellent, includes a good advisory service too, but not free)

Ezine Directories Top 20: The pick of the best ezine directories on the Net (not as good/helpful)

      Webmasters:
Use search engines to find sites in your niche ... and this article by expert article marketer Anne Pottinger will help, too (but only if you read it! ): Article Syndication To Benefit and Grow Your Business | Internet Marketing and Publishing

Also widely recommended: an e-book by Paul Myers, on this subject: Content Cash System, A New Approach To An Old System by Paul Myers.

Also, the methods described in this timeless classic: Turn Words Into Traffic (by Jim and Dallas Edwards) have been working successfully for over a decade and still are, now.

Sorry - I've read this paragraph several times but I don't understand exactly what you're asking, here.

No. You need your own articles. You can't re-use other people's articles other than by reprinting them, from an article directory, on your own site, including their resource-box, and complying with all the directory's terms of service (which you should always check). Otherwise you'll have people serving DMCA notices on your host, and your site will be the one disappearing!

I'm guessing, from your English, that you're going to be employing a writer, to produce your articles?

You'll need to take care how you do that, ensuring that your writer is someone with a clear understanding of what writing for syndication involves. Not someone from Odesk or Fiverr or a freelancing website who writes $10 articles: that will not work, for article syndication.

Again, I'm not quite clear what you're asking, here.

It's up to you, to how many directories you submit your articles. As long as you own the copyright, because either you wrote them or you bought them from someone who wrote them for you and assigned the copyright to you, there's nothing black hat about it.

If you ever use articles you don't own, of course, that wouldn't just be "black hat": it would be theft, too.

I normally use only 1 or 2 article directories, because (like most article marketers) I find there's no additional benefit from using more.

But the important thing, before submitting to any article directory, is to understand clearly why you're doing it, and how they work: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/488368-how-do-article-directories-work.html#post5068872

Thnx a lot Alexa for your brief description...

For query d) what am asking is:

Generally ecommerce websites fully filled with products instead of 'content'.. even its the almost same case for 'service based' websites too.. so How do I get backlinks for them?

My actually intention to get them rank in google as well (ofcourse i got to know that we do not get backlinks if we submit our original posts into ezne directory, its just for syndication only BUT we get traffic from the syndicated websites)

Apart from syndication process: how do I create regular backlinks?

Blog comments or presss releases or wiki or Alll?

English is not my 1st language,so i definitely go with outsource only.. and my budget is not much.. so whatever I have money, i should utilise it in a proper way.. So can you suggest how to create regular good backlinks.. (I mean for outsourcing..)

I have around 10 websites and each website thinking to target 10 to 15 keywords, not sure how do I create backlinks for all of them at once..
(if i go with outsource,it seems i need to invest a lot to do backlinking for all my 10 websites.. )

        thanks!

You use article syndication to direct visitors to your ecommerce or service based sites. You don't try to syndicate the product or service offering pages.

For an ecommerce site, you write about the activity the product goes with. Say your site is about cooking equipment - high end pots and pans. You would write articles on, say, making the perfect risotto. In the article, you would describe the perfect risotto pan. Then you would link to your 'risotto pan' page on your site with a Title, recap of what the perfect risotto pan is, and your products that match those characteristics.

Repeat for other related topics - making pasta, timing a dinner, etc.

For a service business, what I'm going to say might seem counter-intuitive, but it works.

You write your articles telling people exactly how to get the results you offer via the service. Sometimes in excruciating detail. The diehard DIY crowd aren't your real customers anyway, so the information you give won't cost you anything. The people likely to hire a service will see that you really know your stuff. Combine that with repeated exposures in multiple places, and you go a long way toward the 'know, like and trust' you need to make a long term go of a service business.

Paraphrasing a line I read in another post, 'it's much easier to be an authority if you are everywhere.'

Ok just a quick small doubt:

In case of either service or ecommerce websites, do I need to create folder called "blog" and then start writing articles in my website and then submit that article into ezine?

The reason im asking this becoz I have seen some service and ecommerce (say laptop store), they just keep very little content around some 300 words or less, so thats why im not understanding how to start 'article syndication' for these type of websites .. pls advise me...

We just stepped off the deep end on this one. I don't focus on "creating backlinks" for any kind of site. For me, backlinks are what happen when a publishers accepts one of my articles and publishes it on their site. My objective is to connect with that publisher's human audience and lure them via the content to my site.

Given that objective, I don't sweat much on SEO beyond making sure my onsite duff is covered. I want humans to follow the links in my resource boxes to my landing pages where they opt in to my mailing lists. If Google/Yahoo/Bing want to play along and rank me, cool. If not, that's cool too.

For straight backlinking stuff, you might want to check out Warrior 'Kurt'. I've checked out some of his stuff with an eye to seeing what I can incorporate without diluting what I'm building now, and he looks like a pretty smart cookie...

I will suggest to do guest posting. I have just started guest posting and i am seeing a good extra traffic every day. Also do commenting, its not worth for seo, but will give to more visitors. You can try forums like wordpress.org, joomla and others's but please don't spam there..

If anyone's interested, in the video above, Matt Cutts is NOT talking about article syndication: he's talking about "article directory marketing". :p

As Joe mentions, article syndication is not primarily or intrinsically an SEO strategy.

"Guest posting" is by arrangement. Your post is announced by the blog owner as a "guest post" (sometimes with a paragraph about who you are). It's like a "guest appearance". Guest posting is really very similar to article syndication (except that I know some people even write "unique posts" for guest posting. I don't - that would be a very poor and uneconomic use of my time and content).

A blog "comment" is something unsolicited submitted to someone else's blog via a webform, and typically much shorter than a "guest post", in the hope that it will be accepted and published.

You could also utilize what's called a "feeder site." Rather than setting up a /blog folder, you set up a separate entity for your articles and point that to your "money" site.

I think part of the confusion comes from the fact that many of who rely on syndication aren't using the kind of site you describe. When one of us says "post the articles on your own site first", it's because of the basic structure of that site. In your case, I'd recommend posting to a site you own, but not necessarily to the ecom or service site.

If you do go the /blog route, it doesn't have to be real obvious. As far as a spider is concerned, it can follow a link in a side bar or footer as easily as a big production in the content portion of the page. For purposes of content creation and posting, you can treat the /blog as a separate website.

Just got an Idea from my mind: (not sure whether it works or not):
            -------------------------------------------------------------

What if I create a1000 word unique article and post as it is in some of the Article Directories or web2.0 or in some blogs like .wordpress etc.. instead of using '/blog' or any other technique... (in this case, there is nothing I post in my website ,instead i just post newly created unqiue article whereever I like and in those directories or blogs it points to either my 'service' or 'ecommerce' website using varying anchor text... ) Does this work? Please advice me.. Im just trying my best to get more visitors doing less work..

Please advise me and your suggestions really helps me a lot...

OK, so in terms of backlinks or seo, does these guest posting or blog commenting really works super? I mean does these BOTH are really recommendable to get good rankings for our website?

and also would like to know Does 'Article Syndication' WILL NOT WORK if we think to improve building backlinks or increase good rankings for our website? (I mean if we think in terms of SEO side.. )
Does google really index those websites that are syndicated?

Both guest posting and blog commenting do have some SEO value, to the extent that the site on which your backlink appears is relevant to your own site. And they are, of course, because nobody's going to want a guest post on an irrelevant subject, and you can choose the blogs on which you comment, yourself, and go for the relevant ones.

But just as is true of everything discussed above, SEO benefits are not the main reason for doing blog comments or guest posting. The idea, just like the idea of article syndication, is to attract targeted traffic.

It seems that almost every subsidiary question you ask is about SEO? If you want to build your business on an SEO basis, then it makes little sense for you to have started a thread to ask about article syndication, because article syndication is not intrinsically an SEO method.

I make my full-time living as an affiliate marketer, but I don't really find SEO very useful for it. Out of all the marketing methods I've tested, in a large range of different niches, traffic from Google opts in least often, and buys least. "SEO methods" are also a very unreliable, precarious and insecure way to build an affiliate marketing business. As so many Warriors have found out over the last year or two (some of them to their very great cost!) a business that depends on Google for its primary traffic can never be more than one algorithm change away from a potential accident, or even a potential disaster. In other words, if you set up your business in order to attract Google traffic, the long-term security of your business will always be outside your own control.

Many people do exactly that, though - and this is a big part of why the overall success rate in affiliate marketing is on the low side.

Actually what Im looking is:
Less Work, Ranking in Google too, Good number of Quality Visitors Daily!

Im sorry if I asked anything wrong.. I just created this thread to clear myself from your diamond suggestions

and also would like to know Does 'Article Syndication' WILL NOT WORK if we think to improve building backlinks or increase good rankings for our website? (I mean if we think in terms of SEO side.. Just to know.. )

Does google really index those websites that are syndicated?

Im really NOT against 'Article Syndication' or neither Im looking only on SEO side.. ) I really hate doing things without knowing it.. so asking you guyz all these stupid queries.. please kindly bear me ..

Many newbies start doing wrong things without knowing what exactly they are doing and ultimately they fail and at the end they say that 'IM is a Time waste'.. So, I start doing ONLY when I know what exactly Im doing.. It gives me confident too..

I guess he does talk about article syndication too. He says, first you publish your articles in directories and then other people take them from directories and republish, whish is somewhat duplicate content as he sees. More to add, he says these republished content's links are not as strong as those editorial links you get from people who really love your content and therefore link back!

    Here they are:
    -----------------------

    a) When we post our exact same post from our website into ezine, why does people copy-paste exactly our ezine article into their website? Dont they know that Google will not show their website in search results as its a dupe content in their website?

This is a myth...you can have duplicate content on websites...if you do content curation correctly you hit the top of Google...

but ezine's dont use your articles for google...ezines are newsletters and they have spent their time building their email lists. Some have huge lists and they need articles for their newsletters. This is why guest blogging is so powerful.

As long as you link correctly, it is like sending out an email to multiple lists...that someone else built.

    b) What if people just copy-pasted our ezine article into their website (BY REMOVING OUR RESOURCE BOX) , so how do we approach them and ask them to keep our website link in their post?

I am sure this happens from time to time, but no way to monitor it...people can take your articles right off your blog and rewrite and re-post them...it almost becomes public domain once you publish, however, most ezine publishers respect the resource box...but I have had people change my links with affiliate links, thats why I market my own products through articles...

    c) HOw do I approach (via google) related websites and ask them to syndicate my content in their website?

You can research for ezines...you can also type in the niche you are looking for in google, and take note of the top ten or so search results.

Then try to find their content information and see if they need articles for their site. try to ask in 100 words or less, ask them if they need articles...

    d) HOw can I use this 'Article Syndication' process for my 'Service Based websites' and 'Ecommerce based websites' ? (Since they're NOT just general articles). In my ecommerce websites, I just put Title and below that Products will be displayed, so how do I syndicate this? and Even how do I syndicate 'service based websites? ' (say 'article writing service' or 'seo service' ?

People will not take an article with title and then a product link...but you can write about the services you offer, and then place a resource link to the site or product. A good rule of thumb would be 20 articles per service you offer with link to that product.

    e) Can I Just exactly copy paste someone else posts into some directories and I keep my link at the bottom ? Ofcourse I just submit to only few directories.. Is that wrong doing so like that? (ofcourse it seeems like a blackhat, but this is just my doubt...)

That would you doing exactly what you dont want people doing with your own articles...see your point B. What you can do is find PLR articles and break those up and or rewrite them...

here is a list of other places you can post too...

(Calaméo) Word and Open Office Documents
(Docstoc) Touchy about links in documents.
