How do you track time you spend on particular task?

I am using toodledo for time management. Its pretty good, though i dont like interface and its bit boring.

But anyway, my question is i want to track time, i spend on particular project. Then, if i want to look back, lets say after 10 months, i should be able to know

Project a - 100 hours
project b - 60 hours and so on

Is there any such application? web based?

Thanks

    Hi,

I stumbled upon this video, not an affiliate link, that shows how to use a free yet limited time tracking software. Its not web based though.

    Hope this helps.

Maybe "Time Doctor" is what you’re looking for. Not only that it has a nice-simple interface and tracks your time efficiently, it also logs your completed task according to time. You can go by month, weeks, days or depending on a specified range of date. Timedoctor also takes screenshots in a random manner and they are saved in a secured database, anytime your reports can be accessed as long as you have an internet connection.

I use an app on my iPad and iPhone called HoursTracker. It was less than a handful of dollars but it allows me to clock in and out of tasks and set dollar values on them. I also can export to CSV for analysis.

I'm currently contributing to the development of a desktop application that does just this.

In a nutshell, it tracks time spent on tasks/projects. The interface is very minimal and allows you to navigate/use the entire application using just your keyboard if you so choose to.

This application is not yet released to the public, so I can't give you a link (just yet), but it will be available within a month or so.

I'm curious as to what exactly you're looking for in such an application, beyond what you've already stated. Feel free to PM your response if you wish not to clutter up this post!

    Happy hunting,
    Funk Doc

You can use the Dovico timesheet but this isn't a free software. This is actually a time management software.

The inability of so many to properly explain their use of time is why I insist that all jobs I contract for are by the job and not the hour. I will pay an hourly fee for an occasional update, that is fair, but as far as the main project? I say you've been doing this long enough to have a feel for what it's gonna take time wise...And we go back and forth and agree on a price.

Take a look at "ManicTime"...I think it's pretty da*n awesome.

The basic edition is free and offers pretty cool stuff...
it sits in the background and records your activities, so you can just forget it is there and focus on your work. No need for any punch clock attitude that I just can't seem to get used to.
Another thing I appreciate is that the data is stored locally... so sensitive data stays right here with me.
The pro version is very affordable too... and the license is issued per user not per machine.

The only downside I found is that it doesn't run on MacOS.

Google the term "GTD software" and you will find multiple online systems. It just depends on which one you like. You could also check terms like time management software and project management software.

I don't want to sound mean or sarcastic, but IMHO, I only need to discipline myself when it comes to managing my choices. For me (I don't oppose your views, however), there's no such thing as "time management;" only management of your choices. Even if you have 10 tools that will remind you every time about your to-do list, if you can't help it but peep into YouTube or Facebook every 5 minutes, nothing or no one can help you but yourself.

Just saying; not opposing/attacking your thoughts. Peace!

I usually pick a task and work on it until I finish.. I simply won't sleep without getting what I need done completed. I try my best not to jump from one thing to another.

    Stay focused!
