For me it is making sure the people who come to my site have great reasons to come back and tell their friends. Then I send an occasional email to make sure they know about new reasons to come back. I do not spend a dime on other marketing until I have this part working VERY well.

i get great results using solo ads and often make my money back right off the bat and often make money too

also i use my personal blog to generate lots of free traffic

a blog does take time to brand but worth every minute of your time as it certainly pays off further down the line

Build something.. you have to start somewhere. Paying for ads always works of course, just have to target the customer and figure out what works best for you.
What have you tried so far?

You said it yourself, it really does depend on the niche because many advertising sources are just that, their very own niche in which you will only do well if you are showing offers that particular crowd likes to see. You wouldn't go to a doughnut shop and try to sell salad now would you I market advertising sources thus I advertise places where people are always looking for more advertising which is on advertising sites.

For me it's PPC every time. Sure, it's scary when you start out but once your campaigns are working, it's as close to autopilot as it gets, in my opinion.

It's always interesting to such diverse answers from such diverse people. At the end of the day though, the answers are all pretty much the same. It's quite rare someone will post in a thread like this an answer that hasn't been shared countless times before. With that said though, here's my advice: take these high-level ideas, do a little bit of research, and from there choose your favorites. Don't try and dilute yourself by doing a little of this and a little of that, scattered all over the place. Pick a method. Learn it (free resources for whatever your chosen method may be are all over the Forum as well as through a Google search). And most importantly, implement it wholeheartedly long enough to actually get a feel for whether or not it "works" for you. Ultimately though, each of these methods work, and work well. Like with anything, you're just going to have to work it.

    Best,
    Derek

Derek's is the best reply to date. Why exactly would someone want to post an answer that works, is unique, and hasn't been shared countless times before?

So I give away my targetted traffic method for 10m+ free views a month, and suddenly thousands of IM's are using it and it's no longer unique. The traffic then becomes diluted and I've shot myself in the foot.

That's not to say if someone had an appropriate niche for this method and made me an offer I couldn't refuse, that I wouldn't share it with one or two

And you can't complain about free traffic from search.

Funny thing - I just got onto page one of google for a product I haven't even launched yet. Wasn't trying to show up in search; it just happened. Granted, the keyword "video sales funnels" gets f-all as far as searches. Ranking for "video squeeze pages" would be slightly more impressive, but barely.

Here's an alternative to search marketing, which I really love. I'm stealing traffic from popular blogs, marketplaces, social hubs etc.

What exact sites? It depends on my niche and target audience. For example, if I'm catering to women, Pinterest can be my best weapon. But I just don't rely on it as it's owned by someone else and I can never control what would happen to it. Same with all other web properties I'm stealing traffic from.

As usual, content marketing is my favorite. Based on my experience, I can say article syndication is rising again. It's viable for almost all of my niches.

I'm also getting great results from ebook and press release distributions.

I also use social media for most of my niches. Facebook advertising works great for me, but I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I'm testing Kindle, and guest blogging on highly popular news sites nowadays.

You see, there are thousand ways of generating traffic. You have to work. You have to test.

Now I know it sounds boring but the best consistent traffic source for me has got to be forum marketing.

Long as you provide free information and really help people then you'll be surprised at the amount of traffic that you can generate this way.

Like I said it's boring and old but still works really well.

    Hey everyone,

I agree with @VHSEOMike with what he has suggested it is good organic listing in search engines and unique content. Thanks for sharing this.

Another good one is. It depends what your marketing plan is. If it contains promoting a product/service then video marketing is a good one that is starting to come in place now. With Video SEO pages then submitting to Google etc

Viral Planet based in Central London, Covent Garden is a leading online viral video campaigns distributor maybe this could help people to distribute campaigns online.

Anyway I have subscribed to their publisher network, which is giving opportunities to sites to convert their traffic to revenue. This works out to be more than Google Adsense.

Viral Planet invite high traffic sites to become a strategic & high-value publisher.

They operate a number of high-volume Viral Video Campaigns and Online Video Advertisements and if your site is getting high traffic then this would be excellent for the genres and consumer brands that we are currently working with.

Check them out guys if you want to make money from your high traffic sites. Viral Planet | Viral Marketing Campaigns | Online Video Advertising | Viral Videos | Social Video | Viral Campaigns

    Hi,

SEO is the most reliable source of unlimited niche traffic, so concentrate on SEO to attain good ranking for relevant keywords. A successful SEO depends on optimization for the right keywords and targeting 1 keyword per page using good Quality of contents.

I earn a very nice monthly income as an Amazon affiliate by easily ranking low competition products and capturing lots of "buying traffic" via organic search.
