Any insights on the potential of photo blogs?

Hello Warriors,

My roommate just pitched the idea of putting up photo blogs. I've been thinking about it but haven't really gotten any ideas. Niche photo blogs comes to mind, but what exactly in it? Which niches/markets? How to monetize them?

Do they hold a good potential in terms of probable revenue ranges?

I see a lot of "funny" "LOL" "gags" kind of photo blogs (or phlogs, as they're also known); but these niches generally don't pay much, at least relatively.

Anyone here who has an understanding or experience in this area, and would like to shed some light and help a few Warriors? Please chime in with your thoughts...

        Have you seen a good one in this niche? Or maybe you could share some ideas? I know it's too much to ask, but I'm too damn interested yet clueless.

        Or, are there are any good courses on phlog monetization?

            I got this last night. Nothing really useful. It doesn't lead by example. There's NO mention of what kind of niches are good, how to drive traffic (in fair detail/step-by-step method), or anything "really useful" for an IMer (novices like me included). It might be good for some, so I'm not really bashing the WSO, but I didn't find anything useful personally.

          Haven't seen one, just an idea off the top of my head.. Maybe have people send in photos and their travel experiences - if you can combine the two, you may have enough content to please G for an adsense site (but I defer to any adsense gurus who may be lurking for advice on that )

    CPC is very low. so you have to concentrate in visitors. the more visitors you get, the more profit you will earn. and its a competitive field too. remember it.

      The CPC depends on what exactly? What if I had AdSense? It would depend on the niche, correct?

      For AdSense, however, a mere photoblog wouldn't cut it. There would need to be some text content to go along with the image. Not really photoblog stuff, methinks.

      WOW, that sounds good. How do you drive traffic to the site?

      And what are your pageviews against revenues like? How many months before you turned the site into profit?
