Exit Popup with Banners Ad, what do you think?

Greetings Warriors!

Will I be in trouble if I will put my banner affiliate ad on my exit pop-up? Right now, our main source traffic will be SEO. Will Google hate our affiliate site for this?

Anyone has tried this before?

Please share your thoughts on this.

    There is a theory that having an exit pop up is a no no in the eyes of google but I am not so sure, it has never seemed to harm any of my sites rankings but they have never been high enough to be harmed by this.
