First page, first place, first... IS THIS that important?

Hi,

Few days ago I was looking for WSO's (just to check what people offer) and was wondering. Almost every single WSO is about traffic, google, panda update and.. first page. Wow! It's a paranoia (delusional insanity).

Warriors, I have a website that earns me money via AdSense. It's not on the first place of Google. It's not on the first page. BUT it earns me money! Every month. Simples.

Don't chase for first blah-blah. Just focus on articles for human, not for robot. My split test showed me that WP website with one article written by me were on better position in search results than another website with 5 super-optimized articles and the same keyword were on n-teen page.

Website that earns me money is on 3rd page And I have 98% of organic traffic from search engines.

A tip: write articles for your visitors, not for search bots.

    What you say is very true although if you are earning from the 3rd page just think with some effort how much more a high first page would bring in.

    I write this because newbies in IM think that NOT FIRST PAGE is a failure. It's not true It's a success if you are making money even if you are on 10th page.

    yeah, you have to start from somewhere anyhow ... just don't get disappointed if you don't make it to the 1st page results quickly or eventually ... stick to your plan, start to earn and time will tell

    It is very true that you do not have to be on the first page to see success or profits. However, it is a well documented fact that within the top 5 or so see an immense amount more traffic than others. Can you say cha ching?

    Writing for my visitors is must but first page in SEs is also important for me.

      I'm a bit mystified by that. Do people really scroll down to page 3 and more to find what they're after. I know I don't - with rare exception anyway. But if you say you're earning from it, hey well done matey - who am I to argue.

    I agree with Alex here focus on the visitors not googlebot and how many times has google said that's what webmasters should focus on, i've lost count and people here still ignore it, because they're obsessed with getting to page 1, the holy grail!
    In fact people on this forum are obsessed with seo and getting to page 1, how do i know because i was like that once as well, only for penguin to destroy sites that were ranking for some really competitive keywords overnight. I don't regret this, in fact i'm happy it happened as it made me realise i needed to focus on things that were long term and sustainable busineses, not for short term gain and log term pain.
    I wrote a thread about this and most people agreed with me that it's crazy how much time, money and effort people are dedicating to this, instead of building a sustainable long term business.
    I wish people would learn but many probably won't.

    You're so right. Ever since all of the search engine updates, it seems that quality content that offers value to the end user is weighted much more heavily than keyword density and all that stuff. I don't even pay attention to that stuff anymore but am still able to rank for multiple keywords and what not.

    Hey, yes being on the first page is going to get you a heck lot of organic traffic (SE TRAFFIC),
    but, you can always generate alot of traffic even if you are on page 318, you can submit articles, social media, my blog gets 6k traffic a month and only 1000(approx) are from SE, the rest is from free traffic i worked hard to generate, it pays off.

    but yes, being on page 1 is a big difference than being on page two.

    Yep through experience with keyword research and article writing you begin to get more and more of a good feel as to what yields the best results. Experience is king.

      Of course I care about the content that I write and my visitors, but one of my main goals is to be on that first page in Google.

        Myself? I only care about the money. I don't care where the traffic comes from.

        But my clients? They really really want to see their websites, videos, listings on page on of Google and Youtube. So I concentrate on that.
