How much can I charge for my site?

Hey there I am thinking about selling one of my websites.

Notes:
- June 300$, probably more in July (Monetized with affiliate Ebook in my niche)
- 6-8k Uniques per Month (Organic Search)
- PR1

Should I wait for the next PR update (PR3 pobably) and get a better samplesize with my earnings or maybe even increase income?

Cheers!

Time is money. Do everything you can to squeeze what you can out now to maximize profits. From there - its just how patient you want to be. If your traffic is growing steadily, then it may be worth waiting another month to beef up the figures.

I would charge 5 bajillion dollars.

    OR

If it's making that kind of money as a PR1, why not hold onto it? As long as you keep adding quality content to it, it should bring in a stream of income for a long time. Heck, $300 a month is nothing to sneeze at, either.

$300 a month? Hang onto it. Improve it. Put it up for auction when it hits $1000 a month. Then charge $6 bajillion!

How long has it been making $300 a month? PR is worthless, so no need to wait for the next update.

I don't know your niche, but $300 a month from 8k UVs doesn't sound very high. Have you tested any other monetization?

$300 month, that's nice! I sold a site making $30/month for $450. And I've done that over and over. Expect 12x - 18x the amount of the monthly revenue being made. As long as the revenue is going up month to month it would make a ton of sense to hold on to it until it does hit $1000 per month or more? Time is your friend unless of course you need cash now..

  • @ej2012: What you posted really make me want to hold on to the sites I have now, monetize them and later sell them at a higher price.

Websites are like house and lots. The value appreciates over time only that with websites you need to make sure it does earn money every single month, the more the better.

I would see if i could make more money with the site. If it's relatively new and producing $300 a month, you could probably increase this income within a short period of time. But if you really want to get rid of it... sell it on Flippa for $2,000.

    @onlinesolutions1985 - Absolutely, here's a couple things I have learned using Flippa.

1.) If you have a 5 page site that ranks for a main keyword that gets searched 1,000+ per month and is making no income at all, you can sell that site easily for $250-$350(the value is in the ranking). I've tested this quite a bit. I was building and ranking sites in a 2 day period that cost me total of $40(including listing fees) to build.. and flipping them for a nice chunk of cash. Definitely the best money I have made online for the time put in. Note: over deliver in customer support and add a backlinking package and BOOM! that site will sell 98% of the time.

2.) If you have a site that is pulling in a monthly income + ranking on page 1.. don't be shy about asking for 12x-18x, the market is there and mad hungry for these types of sites. Just over deliver! I've had repeat customers because I treat customers the way I want to be treated.

3.) Time is on your side.. IT REALLY IS. The longer you hold onto a site the more proof of revenue you can provide, buyers love proof and will pay what you ask most of the time and if not, let the auction end, that's ok and not necessarily a bad thing, relist it with a better offer and more proof OR add some more websites to the same listing.. but again there is always that quick flip model where rankings out weigh revenue(short term/quick flip cash).

I like the idea of "the shortest distant between two points is a straight line" especially when flipping. Research services here on the WF that get you to page 1 of Google(find a good service, talk to the thread owner, not looking for overnight results, but results that stick), if the site is adsense, hold on to that site for at least a month to prove revenue. Then again, I showed revenue for 2 days and made an awesome flip.. I LOVE FLIPPA!! LOL

    cheers all,

    ej

You should hold on the site for a while to maximize the profits. After you maximize the profits of your site maybe to like $2000. Maybe you can sell it for $10 K.

Does PR even matter, really I wonder? If you are getting 6-8k with pr1 and less than a year ago I started a (local) real estate website that was almost instantly pr2, but I don't get nearly that traffic. It makes me wonder if pr really does anything?

A site typically sells for around 10 times the monthly income. Since that will be reasonably high for you (compared to listing fees), you could try selling it now with a reserve, and if it doesn't reach the price you want, get some more month's income data, and better PR, as you say.
