How to "control" what your customers think about you

For years I resisted doing this exercise. I never thought it was important enough to devote the time.

Man was I wrong. This morning I sat down and wrote out 5 things I want my customers (and potential customers) to know about me.

Why?

Well when I'd ask my customers for their feedback they'd say this, that, and the other. All stuff that to me wasn't important and more importantly - wasn't the key points or ideas I wanted them to know.

After today that won't be a problem. From now on they get this list on my blog, in my first email to them, and constant reminders.

By the way, here are mine to show an example:

5 Things You Should Know About Me

#1. I only teach stuff that I actually do. That may seem like common sense to you, but sadly it isn't to a lot of marketers. Some of them rely on theory only products with a lot of hype and speculation. Not me. Rest assured that if I'm teaching it, it's because I've personally done it and have the battle wounds to prove it.

#2. I freely speak my mind. I'm not shy about expressing how I feel about something, and don't expect me to spare anyone's feelings in the process. I like to cuss and my bull**** tolerance is the lowest it's been in years. The same thing goes for drama too. If you're expecting sugar coated gum drops - you're not going to find it here. If your virgin ears can't handle a few cuss words, along with a healthy dose of drinking and cigar smoking - I am not for you.

#3. I believe in personal responsiblity. Right after I got my first corporate job I buried my ass in debt. One day I went to the bank to get some money out of the ATM and there was a problem. I didn't have any money in my account. In fact, I actually owed them some cash. I didn't get mad at them, I fixed the situation. Over the next few years I went from dead broke and debt free. How? I took personal responsibility for my life and my actions. I'm here to help you, but I'm not going to spoon feed you or do the work for you.

Also to eliminate tire kickers, wannabe's, and serial refunders, I have a strict NO REFUND POLICY on any product that I create or promote as an affiliate. If you can't afford to invest in yourself and your future without asking for a refund to cover your bills or because you changed your mind - I'm not for you.

It's your job and your personal responsibility to ensure the stuff you buy, the programs you try are successful - not me.

#4. I focus on the results I achieve, not the time I spend doing them. If an efficiency expert ever followed me around, they'd have a heart attack. I don't have a set schedule, I don't have office hours, hell some days I don't even get up before noon. That's because I've set my business up around my lifestyle, not the other way around. I am a big believer in focusing on the things in your business that bring you more clients, more money, and faster results - not the hours I log in a computer. If you can't handle that - that's your problem, not mine.

#5. I teach in a step by step, simple manner. I love explaining not only what to do, but how to do it, and more importantly why to do something. I run a simple business that provides consistent results. Notice I said simple, not easy. There are no push button solutions, instant riches, or any other bull**** that's being pushed out there. I focus on my S.L.F business? What's S.L.F? Simple - Lucrative - Fun. Trust me, the bank doesn't give you any extra money for making things hard and difficult - that's why I focus on simplicity. For me life and business is more about enjoyment and freedom, than it is having millions in the bank.

Bonus #6. No one is more committed to your success than me. My mission is life is to help and teach as many people as possible how to leave the 9 to 5 grind once and for all. But I can't drag you to the finish line. My job is to educate, entertain, and inspire - your job is to the do the work. Remember motion beats meditation and the faster you decide to get your ass in gear, the sooner you'll be able to claim the reward.

It won't be easy, it won't be instant, you are going to have to work for it, and you might even fall down once or twice, but ... it's totally worth it and I'm ready to show you how.
