OTO or no OTO for list?

Hi, I was wondering if I should use an OTO or dont use an OTO for my email list?

I would like your opinion, thanks!

Do you mean when they first sign-up?

For me it depends on the niche.

I can see advantages and disadvantages to this...

If you offer one, people may be really turned off right away because you are trying to sell them. Maybe it would be better to build a relationship first, establish trust, THEN hit them with an offer(s) down the road.

edwin it really depends on what traffic source your using to start with

if your using paid traffic then i highly recommend using oto`s with upsells

if your using free traffic then you have the option of not using a oto by setting up a new web form

    so

    paid traffic = always

free traffic = purely your choice

    Hi Edwin.

Personally, I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with sending your sign-ups to an OTO page.

After all, they will be getting a high quality product at a knockdown price. If they're not interested they can easily decline.

If, on the other hand, they purchase your OTO - well then, they will realise what great value they're getting for their money and you'll gain instant trust with your visitors.

There's still a lot of rubbish out there in the IM sector, so providing you're offering an exclusive deal on a genuine value-for-money product you should be fine.

    Kind regards,

    Jan

Personally, I OTO the people on my list, but not when they sign-up. I wait for about 30 days or so, as I believe I have a big chance of selling to them without the OTO if I build some trust and credibility with them first over a period of time.

A lot of people are going to say "no way" to your question. Those are the people that are, for some reason, afraid to sell. They will preach about how you need to develop a relationship with the subscriber before you make any offers to them. Imagine if WalMart took the same approach! "Welcome to WalMart! Please let us give you something of high value. If you like it, hopefully you will come back and buy something."

You can develop a relationship and sell at the same time. Make good offers for quality products and offer great support. Vwalla... a good relationship is born... and you didn't have to give away the farm first.

I have tested this and found there to be no difference in the long run, but that does NOT mean the results will be the same for you. This is why it's of the utmost importance to test this for yourself. If you can sell the same quantity of products with, or without an OTO, then obviously it makes more sense to just give them what they expected when they signed up, and nothing more.
