Yes, EzineArticles.com will accept articles posted on your blog first. That is not duplicate content.

No, EzineArticles.com will not accept articles already published on EzineArticles.com. That would indeed be duplicate content.

As long as it complies with their editorial guidelines.

No; they don't say it's duplicate content, because it isn't: it's syndicated content.

    That's correct.

    They don't accept duplicate content.

But what you describe above isn't duplicate content: it's syndicated content.

They wouldn't accept it if they already had a copy of it on their website: that would be duplicate content. "Duplicate content" is multiple copies of text-files within the same website.

Ezine Articles even goes to the trouble of making available to its authors a special Wordpress plug-in to enable them to publish their articles on their own blogs/sites while simultaneously submitting them to Ezine Articles for approval and subsequent publication there. (I can't use it, myself, because I don't use Wordpress for my sites, and in any case I syndicate my articles widely to relevant ezines and webmasters before I submit them to EZA.)

Hardly something they'd do, if they didn't want you publishing your blog posts on their site?!

They also send out an introductory email series to all the new authors who opt in for it, in which they specifically invite you to submit your already-published blog posts there as articles (as long as they comply with the editorial guidelines, of course).

As is true of hundreds of other people making a living from article marketing, every single article I've ever had published in Ezine Articles, in each of 8 different niches, over the last 4 years (and widely syndicated from there, to other sites, which is of course the purpose and function of an article directory), has previously been published on one of my own sites, and many of them in a number of other places, too.

At least hundreds of article marketers are doing this.

Edited to add: sorry, John posted while I was typing. I would say "That'll teach me to be so long-winded" but the reality is that it probably won't.

I realise that this is a completely novel suggestion - and that no-one else would ever think of it - but have you considered reading the Editorial Guidelines?

I know they are difficult to find - after all the link is at the bottom of the front page (under the misleading heading of "Authors")

    EzineArticles.com - All Editorial Guidelines

As I am sure that it will be terribly difficult to actually click - then find the right section, I'll paste it here:

All content that is published on EzineArticles must be 100% exclusively owned by you. The content that is submitted CAN be published elsewhere, but must share the same author name everywhere it is published. If you published your article elsewhere and did not include your name, we will not publish your article on our platform. It is important that you own your content no matter where you publish it.
Also if you log into your author account and click on the button that confusingly says "resources" you will find something astonishing: A wordpress plugin!

The EzineArticles WordPress Plugin allows you to submit your high quality, original WordPress posts to EzineArticles.com, as well as monitor their review status right from the WordPress administrative interface!
Perhaps it might also be of benefit to learn what duplicate content actually is - may I suggest this resource: (One again difficult to find - after all if you type "what is duplicate content" into google it is hidden directly above the search results.

Duplicate content - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Duplicate content is a term used in the field of search engine optimization to describe content that appears on more than one web page, within the same web site.
So quite obviously Ezine articles are not very keen on it - who does want to publish multiple copies of the same article on thier own website?

    I hope this was helpful.
