I saw a thread earlier about lots of sites being shut down due to a server issue that the FBI was investigating.. I can't remember where I saw it but I want to find it again. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Hello Laurence,

You're referring to a trojan attack on Canadian servers, I guess. Here's the link.

It's some kind of a DNSChanger malware. If you want to check if your computer isn't infected, visit http://www.dns-ok.ca. Click 'I agree.' If it shows green, you're safe. You got to make sure that your machine is clean from this trojan before it hits midnight of July 9th, or you're offline until further notice.

    I hope this helps.

      Hello Laurence,

It's our pleasure to be of help to you.

If I may request, I think it'll help a lot of Canadian Warriors if you can update the title of your post to 'Thousands of Canadians and other people worldwide could lose internet access July 9 due to virus.' It's just a suggestion though. I was thinking of posting that thread but we don't want to duplicate posts.

      Cheers!

      Hello twentytwo,

It's a DNSChanger, which is a trojan type of malware. It can infect anybody else's computer, especially if you don't have any security software installed.

According to our research, this trojan has infected 570,000+ computers already and the FBI and Canadian IT authorities have been working double time to suppress this trojan from spreading.

That means we all got to be extra careful when downloading a 'free' software or when we receive an email from an anonymous sender with links in it. Remember, a trojan appears to be something useful but once it hits your computer, it'll unleash it's true intent, which is to nothing but to damage your computer (so you can't run your WSO anymore and do business online being the least).

    I got the e-mail yesterday.
I thought it was another false e-mail alert, but I thought what if it isn't, really?
So... I checked it and I am all green! :-)
But I was wondering if anyone turned red...
