Tips on not getting suspended by Twitter

I'm thinking of using a site to help find the people I want to follow; to unfollow non reciprocating people; and possibly to send welcome messages to new followers.

Any tips on NOT getting suspended by Twitter?

Do not use the users from others with an automated system got me suspended once. Follow the followers of others in mass is also a no go. Find your own followers and go softly at first. Read the restrictions and follow them they will kill your stuff in a heart beat and it takes forever to get it back if ever.

I was not aware you could be suspended from Twitter... how do you manage to do that?? I'm not a huge tweeter, but I do have one to tweet articles online that I liked or throw a "Hey" out to a friend.

There must be a threshold for this to cause suspension. I use TweetAdder extensively, both for following and unfollowing and I've done quite a lot of that 'follow users of other users' type automated following. I've done this across multiple accounts too. Never been banned, but then again I've never auto-followed more than 250 people in a single day. I also set it to follow quite slowly (say 15-120 seconds per follow).

Don't be too aggressive when you first sign up for Twitter. From there, just don't be spammy. Twitter is really cracking down so if you don't want to lose your account, just be safe with it. Especially if you already have a large following.

If you don't want to get suspended by twitter, do not mass follow and limit your following from 60 to 150 per day to avoid your account from getting suspended.

  • Twitter has a limit as to how many people you can follow on a daily basis. Do it in moderation. When you do mass following chances you are raising red flag to Twitter that what you are doing is not what an average person does on normal circumstances.

Follow people in small number and do it on alternate days. At least, you will be safe by then.
