Question To Writers: What I Charge For My Content?

I know there are a bunch of various writers on the WF forum who range anywhere from beginners to advanced writers. I've done articles, SEO articles, Press Releases and other writing for a couple years. I've done the .01/word writing to build clients and done middle-high end writing jobs but always find the battle what to charge. Price it at .05/word and people sometimes balk away and price it at .01/word and you work endlessly for a few dollars.....

Would like some honest critiques and opinions on what I should be charging for content based on my examples. I've received a lot of complements from my customers on my writing style and content, but am trying to encourage repeat business and don't want them scared away by higher prices, especially in a competitive environment as freelance writing.

My examples are at Article Portfolio and any honest feedback is appreciated. I've posted a few WF hire me posts at $20/pop but never generated enough business to do it again. Maybe will again soon.

Thanks all.

Honestly, I think you should start writing like you're speaking to a person.

If you read over the pregnancy one you'll see what I mean. It's very boring.

I see quite a lot of basic mistakes, words that don't need to be there, and you even spell Turkey with a small t. In the Turkey article you definitely have a keyword density of 50% with the word Turkey, lol.

I think if you study up on the basics and add more life into your work, there's no reason why you couldn't get $25 per article.

Fin nailed it. I chose to look at the Tim Tebow article myself. It read just like an FCAT Writes essay. Bland fact after bland fact. I know I'm one to tell people to charge what they can get, and that usually means higher; but in this case you might not be ready for $.05 and above.

You've got facts, now you need personality.

You are certainly a step up from the $5/500 words content mill crowd. That said, I don't think it is top tier writing either. There are instances in the example I read where your writing could do with more elaborate wording. The second sentence of the Hollywood Museum article irked me a little.

"With Los Angeles being the home of many top studios and the homes of actors." So LA is the home of homes of actors? Doesn't work. Better wording would have been "With Los Angeles being the home of many prestigious studios, with many faces from the stage and silver screen living nearby....."

    Hope that helps.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. $.05 per word is not "top tier" in any market but the SEO Article writers market. Learn the craft, branch out, and you'll be very amazed at the prices you can command .
