What's a good way to promote Clickbank products if you're new?

Hi,

I think I might have found my niche (or at least have a good feeling about this niche) and I wanted to get opinions on what you think is a good way to market/promote clickbank products. I will definitely end up getting a squeeze page and an autoresponder but in the meantime, what would be a good way to get me in so I can have a feel on affiliate marketing. I also work f/t so I only have a few hours a day to start with on this new venture. I was thinking of looking for forums that is affiliated or talks about my niche or people in that forum would be interested in my niche but I find that if you are new to the forum, you are very limited on what you can do, ie. post links and such. help!

you could try video marketing -- ie. YouTube and Vimeo.

It's really not that hard to review a product. Essentially you just need to record yourself or a presentation and give a review of the product. There is free software out there but Camtasia (PC) and Screenflow (Mac) are not that expensive.

It's quick...you can literally have something done and uploaded the same day.

Clickbank, Amazon even WSO's...you can promote anything.

Hopefully that gives you another option...try it out.

Yes search for video marketing + affiliate marketing and you should get good ideas on how to promote affiliate products ... also search for matt carter he had a video affiliate course which was quite good and valuable if you want an course to follow.

    1) You could get a ton of hits to your raw affiliate link

    2) You could build an email list and market to your email subscribers

    3) You could build a review page for the product you want to sell

    4) You could build a pre-sell page specifically designed to sell your Clickbank product

Thanks! So pretty much, most of this is building my website that reviews/talks about the product. I will end up doing that (and still have to learn how to do all of that), I was looking for another way to get income. What do you mean when you say " tons of hits to your raw affiliate link" ... Meaning leaving links to my products on my signature or comments on forums?

The only success I've had with Clickbank was that I'd written several article and was looking to monetize them. I found clickbank products related to the article and added several links (one product each). From there visitors who were truly interested in going further with the business idea, bought the product. The point is that I wrote the content without attempting to sell Clickbank products.

To make the most with affiliate marketing, you should create a blog. Your blog should consist of both product reviews and articles related to stuff in your niche. In addition, you should build a list of targeted buyers as well. The cool thing about having a blog is that not only is it something you can do part-time around your own schedule, but a number of people who visit your blog will sign up to your list without you having to do much of anything.

Forums are great for learning about the people and products within your niche, and once you have your blog set up, they are a good and easy way to get targeted traffic to your site. Just make sure you use forums that are relevant to your blog, that you add value to the conversations within the forum, and that you put a link to your blog in the forum signature.

    Good luck,
    Joey

One option . . . setup a page on a free content site (such as WordPress, Blogger, squidoo, etc.) which pre-sells a CB product, then get on YahooAnswers, Webanswers and similar (like forums, etc.) and create really GOOD answers to questions relevant to your product(s).

I tend to write answers including my URL, about half the time, else those sites might not like you. Don't get too off-topic with your answers, because even if you have 20 best answers, YahooAnswers will still delete all your answers if you can complained-about even 3 times (as someone I know found out by experience), and it's in your interest to keep your answers online as long as possible. WebAnswers will even pay you (AdSense) to answer questions there, so you get 2 income streams from doing the same work!

Of course, it's probably a good idea to research the topic, before choosing a product and putting up your own product-page, as there are some topics which no-one is asking questions about, although you can get around this by having more than one account, in different names, asking questions fom one account, and answering them from the other (although probably a bad idea to make it too obvious, so don't write 10 Q's on one account, and answer all those 10 Q's from the other account, make it a bit less obvious, and you should be OK).

    Hope that helps!

    Chris

It's one way of trying to get some targeted traffic. I've certainly had opt-ins and made sales that way. But, as you say, not always easy.

This is my way of getting floods of targeted traffic, if it helps/interest you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

I hope that this was intended as an ironic/sarcastic comment, but I'm afraid it may not have been, at all. Especially at the moment, it's among the most misguided and least effective advice ever offered in this forum, for several reasons, of which these are perhaps the three most important ones ...

    (i) At the moment, as can be seen from all the threads like this one, huge numbers of Warriors have been getting their sites heavily penalised or even in some cases de-indexed by Google precisely for having used such automated link-building methods as this (or for having "bought backlinks" in places like Fiverr, where their supplier has used automated methods). In may cases, as reported here in so many recent threads, Google has even told them openly, by email, that this is why their sites have been so penalized for SEO. Remvoving from the front few pages of the SERP's the sites of people who have done this sort of backlink building was the specific purpose of Google's "Penguin update".

(ii) Google traffic is, in any case, the worst sort of traffic you can have, for promoting ClickBank products. All my testing, over nearly 4 years, in each of 8 entirely unrelated niches, has consistently shown that SEO traffic opts in least and - having opted in - buys least.

(iii) "SEO methods" are also a very unreliable, precarious and insecure way to build an affiliate marketing business. As so many Warriors have found out over the last year or two (some of them to their very great cost!) a business that depends on Google for its primary traffic can never be more than one algorithm change away from a potential accident, or even a potential disaster. In other words, if you set up your business in order to attract Google traffic, the long-term security of your business will always be outside your own control. Many people do exactly that, though - and this is a big part of why the overall success rate with promoting ClickBank products is very much on the low side.

The advice you're giving/repeating here, Faisal, in short, is exactly what's responsible for so many people failing.

In-post affiliate links work best - or at least, that's what has been converting for me the most.

Twitter traffic has been high on CTRs, but very very low on conversions. I agree on getting away from the blasting techniques. Stick to good informative content. Beyond traffic, the idea is to intrigue the visitor enough to click on your link to go to the affiliate sales page.

Panda/Penguin are super-focused on user experience. So if you do have a couple of hours after work, spend them on creating superb content that, like honey, captures your visitors!

Okay, a lil better here but misleading. You need to purchase the product and actually review the contents before you make your review post or video! Then get a refund in case you're not gonna use the product.

That's cute, but I call BS. Writing articles on directories and linking to products (1) isn't allowed without redirecting,- no aff links allowed - and (2) there's barely any traffic coming from just having articles in directories...so ur full of it dawg.

Faisal, you're an idiot. I've seen you admit in other posts that you barely make anything at all, and yet you're telling others this kind of garbage? Stop it! There's enough misinformation going on regarding marketing strategies that work.

        (1) Ignore the goons. (2) Panda/Penguin were google updates that essentially remove any chance you have of doing Blackhat sh*t. (software manipulation and spam bots) They didn't work before the updates because people are smarter than to trust bots, and now they really won't work because the pages you're trying to rank with those softwares, won't rank at all...so forget about it. (3) Buy a few domains, grab hosting, and write your own articles and keep them on your own site. Then read the posts Alexa linked to to learn how to leverage your blog posts.

Some Warriors above have already given you some great answers, but just to simplify, I figured I would tell you what I would do if I were starting over on a limited budget.

    1. Create a blog centered around your niche topic, and post quality content to your blog at least a few times each week. Focus on building this site beyond the traditional 8-10 page "niche site" and make it a true authority website with 100+ posts/pages.

    2. Syndicate content around the web, with each piece linking back to a relevant post on your blog. You can do this with videos, articles, podcasts, Slideshare presentations, etc. The point is to get a lot of content out there promoting your website/product.

    3. Get a subscription to Aweber, and focus on building an email list if subscribers. Compared to the internet marketing/make money online space, it is amazing how just a small list can make you some nice commissions in other markets.

    4. Follow up with your subscribers with a mixture of promotions & free content. Don't sell to your list with every email, but at the same time you have to make money, so sending them a promo for your product every few emails is certainly ok.

instead of me starting a new thread I hope someone can answer this question regarding clickbank.

When you select a product on clickbank and view the owners sales page where it describes in a long downward read what the product and constantly trying to sell it - When I create my own page to promote it is there no way around not linking to the owners actual sales page for the customer to by the product?

I mean its bad enough for the customer to read your pre-selling page then on the long and boring one the owner provides.

There must be a way round this?

    Thanks in advance.

You can link directly to the vendor's order-page, bypassing his sales page entirely, with his permission, but if you do, you won't be setting a ClickBank affiliate cookie on your prospective customers' computers ... so whether you'd want to or not is another matter. (You'd earn your affiliate commission on the ones who buy immediately after clicking your link, but not on anyone who goes back later by another route).

The way round this, unless you really want to use your pre-selling page to replace the vendor's sales page altogether, and give up your affiliate cookie too, is just to make sure your pre-selling page really is "pre-selling" and not "selling".

I do agree that "too much selling" will lose customers, certainly.

In fact I'd go a lot further than that, and say that I think probably the second-commonest mistake that ClickBank affiliates, collectively, make is "trying to sell on their own websites". This completely misses the point that what sells ClickBank product is trust, credibility and the perceived reliability of your recommendations. And you can't have any of those things if you're "visibly trying too hard to sell". So, yes, I agree with you that this is a potential problem.

I suggest you to start blogging. You can write small stories about the products you are promoting and add your affiliate link inside the post. At the same time you can create videos too, upload them on Youtube and promote your channel, also add the videos on your blog posts too.

Bloggin isn't a problem at all for me.

But basically to promote clickbank products I would have to create a blog related to that product, which means your either limited to one product with not a lot to write about.

How would you suggest I plan to attack this when setting the blog/s up?

      More information would be grateful.

I personally use Skype and have built up a list of people I chatted with throughout the years.

You can visit some of the Facebook or Linkedin groups to meet liked minded people. As your relationship grow you can start talking on the Phone and then finally get to meet face to face.

Well, you can do that. If you're really good at list-building and keep sending people links, then you can perhaps sell it well enough without needing the ClickBank cookie?

The reality (I think) is that the vendor will usually give permission for you to link to the order-page, if you really want to. (Perhaps especially experienced vendors will, because they expect to swallow a few of your affiliate commissions that way?)

I wouldn't fancy it myself, but I do know at least one very successful person who does this routinely. (And he's able to promote some very good products with terrible sales pages which I can't promote, myself).

Not sure what way it would work then, the owner would have say on the amount of commission you made and its not done through clinkbank any more, so you risk loosing money.

Would love to hear that person speak of this

I will search that ebook/book/course - which ever it is lol

There is no risk in "losing" money from your sales; a direct link to the order page does not in any way change the commission percentage or method of payment. The disadvantage, however, is that you are by-passing Clickbank's algorithm for setting cookies, which would of course deflect non-session sales.

On the other hand, this "disadvantage" of not setting a cookie can be more than offset by the flexibility for promoting through custom sales pages or direct links from email and other media.

Particularly in non-IM niches, some of the hottest products often have poorly designed sales pages resulting in abysmally low conversion rates. It is a common practice for experienced marketers to skip such amateur sales pages.

I've made some sales from Clickbank -- but only after finding a CB product I like that also matched one of my well established blog. Readers were already coming to me for information related to the CB product, so I have a sidebar ad and a review, and mention it once in a while in a related post. I am sure there are other, faster ways to do it, but this worked for me --

I am sure there are other, faster ways to do it, but this worked for me --
Lucky you I must say - no well done in having a blog regarding the product and then finding the product, I can picture the excitement you felt when this came around.

This is how I got my first Clickbank check :

I join some Farmville fanpages and groups on Facebook and made friends with lots of Farmville players. Then, I promoted a Farmville tips / secrets product from Clickbank to them. I also offered a free ebook on weight loss on Craigslist, Backpage, etc. and gave it to people with my Clickbank aff link in it, which promoted another weight loss product on CB.

    Good luck !

I think there are really two ways of doing this:

    1. The Fast Way:

This revolves around you making and ranking Youtube videos about a particular niche and then ranking them on Google for a certain keyword. You would then put your affiliate link on the bottom of the video.

This is easy because ranking Youtube videos is extremely easy compared to ranking websites and you'll see some results (i.e $$$) quicker.

    2. The harder way (more sustainable)

Make your own blog about a niche, get an audience, engage them and fill your site with interesting content on the regular.

You'll have to avoid shady SEO tricks because they short lived and you'll end up plummeting your site.

You can actually piggy back off popular videos that have already been created and download them, using the FREE YouTube video downloader.

Then you can tweak the video slightly at Camtasia and upload several versions but making sure all videos are different in length and have slightly different titles but are still targeted towards your affiliate offer.

Place your affiliate link first at the beginning of your videos description and then makesure you consistently do this process everday until you see massive commissions roll in.

Plan to do around 10 of these videos a day and soon you will begin to see some very nice results indeed.

Hope this helps in anyway and good luck!

I know videos aren't associated with duplicate content. But surely this is silly making the same video (tweaking a bit) over and over. Your looking for one video to hit first page no?

Sounds like a decent idea, but maybe just over the top and outrages in ways.

exactly my idea. I asked that question up above and Alexa answered it for me. Now I was looking at competition and seen the website direct the customers straight to the payment page and not the abysmal sales pages.

Thank god for that. It means I can promote the product instead of pre-sell the product.

That way I can make it look professional as hell. Now I'm excited lol.

You should still presell the product, ideally to your opt-in subscriber list linking to your website. With a direct link to the payment page this step would be even more essential for acceptable conversions. Sound marketing practices still apply, as do applicable disclaimers and legal/regulatory adherence requirements.

Paul, do you lose many (or any) sales by not setting cookies in the prospects' computers?

It is possible that some sales may slip by if prospects don't make an immediate purchase, but as I mentioned in a previous post this "disadvantage" of not setting a cookie can be more than offset by the flexibility of promoting through custom sales pages or direct links from email and other media. Note that explicit vendor permission must be obtained before by-passing the sales page.

Prospects can be incentivized to buy now through your payment page link by offering a relevant "bonus" such as a report of high percieved value. What I do is instruct prospects to clear their cookies prior to making a purchase so that after a successful transaction (with my affiliate link) the bonus will be delivered.

Perhaps the best marketing techniques I know of are promotions to your own opt-in subscriber list and article marketing. Also consider other methods such as social media, YouTube, webinars, offline magazine/newspaper advertising, direct mail, flyers, seminars, etc. Those are just a few of the ways how cookies may crumble, by using overwhelming marketing methods.

Thaanks.. And how has this worked for you? I created a fanpage of the product and posting stuff there everyday, like tips regarding my product. But so far, I created it 3 days ago and all my "Likes" have been my friends... How do I get this page to get around?

I also work f/t so I only have a few hours a day to start with on this new venture. I was thinking of looking for forums that is affiliated or talks about my niche or people in that forum would be interested in my niche but I find that if you are new to the forum, you are very limited on what you can do, ie. post links and such. help!
    Hey spm...

Forums, blog commenting, social media comments etc are a great way to 'test' the water with affiliate offers HOWEVER you must offer them real value... something that meets their need before trying to pitch a product.

Most people only buy from people they trust! By offering them something of REAL VALUE that meets their need...for free, you create trust.

That's why a squeeze page/ list building free offer is so powerful... it allows you to build a relationship, then promote products.

I teach people how to create a profitable web business... using a squeeze page, building a list, then promoting related products to the list.

An other good way to promote clickbank products is to provide a honest review of the products which meant to try some of them.

Thanks.. and that means creating a blog that reviews that product correct? I'm currently working on my website that I had bought but learning how to tweak the pages so once I get that one, I might try this. I still need to learn how to remove pages and change the link behind pictures to my affiliate links.... need to search this forum if there's a thread to do that. I'm not a developer but didn't pay much to buy this site and I really like it!

First off I would like to say that you need to not just focus on traffic but instead targeted traffic. With this being said:

Use the search function and do a search for mowg. Short for "mass optimized webpage generation". Talk about capturing keywords short and long as well as localized or nationalized, you can do it all with this software. Once you do this and Google starts indexed and then just watch the targeted traffic flow. This works for CB products, affiliate products, lead generation, site rentals or just plain getting targeted traffic to your site.

I am not a affiliate for this but just see it as a viable way for a newbie to get it right the first time as there is nothing worse than getting it wrong and its like being stuck in mud and you get no where.

The developer offers a 10 day free trial and you can keep as many optimized pages as you can generate and use them how ever you would like. Then you can either rent it or buy a license. For $100 month you cant go wrong.

    Hope this helps.

This, then you can do split testing A/B ad testing, or try axxads.com.

there system lets you just load a few different banners up, and it rotates them and workouts the best from there. Good ROI and from $10 its easy to dip toes without having to worry about anything else

In my opinion, the best way to sell your products quickly is to review a product, you can write a review on your blog and drive traffic to it, or else it is much easier to do a video. Videos are quicker to rank and easier to make. I have tried both the methods in past.

It takes time to build a full fledged site and getting it ranked, only to find that you lost all your rankings in the next update. But its not the case with YouTube videos, plus I think they are converting better for me than my sites. Takes less time to create, easier to rank and get results faster. Just my thoughts

You could do video reviews for the products and rank the video in google.

You can create a blog and promote your offers on the blog.

If it's a social and passionate niche I would create a Facebook fan page about the niche, build up a fan base and then promote your affiliate offers on your wall and tabs.

You can promote your offers through Pinterest. For this it's best that you have a female related audience. I would also set up a website for your promotions as well because your not allowed to direct link to affiliate offers on Pinterest anymore.
