What's the use of earning money when you can't spend it?

If you are making money then on what do you spend(Apart from online stuff)

I feel that being a full time IMER the main disadvantage is that we don't go out much so buying new shoes or clothes is kinda discouraging...

What to do you feel

Is this a joke? The benefit of being a full-time IMer is that you can go whenever you want. The point is that you are the master of your time, not your boss and not your clients. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty of people who chose IM because they don't like to interact with people. If that's the case, maybe you should buy some friends

I don't feel like that. Infact IM allows me go shopping anytime I want. I believe its just a mental construct you have. Many of my friends are working in a bank's back office and most of the time they are in their office for atleast 10 hours some times 12 hours a day (working for peanuts), and I dont see them complaining.

I think that while it may take a lot of work up front building your business the idea is to get the freedom. The technology we have available to us now allows us to automate so much.

Plus you see the claims of people making more money while they're on vacation then they spend... I imagine this probably happens all the time for marketers who have a big responsive list and an automated sales funnel set up before they leave. That's a big driving factor for me and what I'm hopefully on the path of working towards doing someday.

Yeah. The mindset or attitude is different. If you still feel uncomfortable with working hard, then I suggest you better read some books about having a business attitude or mindset.

Are you serious? I've made a full time living for over 12 years. I spend my money on the things everyone spends their money on... bills, food, clothing, shelter, transportation, entertainment .... yada yada yada.

I get out when I want to get out. If you're not getting out, that's a problem you should solve, but many of us are not chained to our computers and have no life outside of Internet Marketing.

You have? I personally haven't spent a red cent of what I have earned online. I live in a tree, using the branches to create a unique WiFi tower of my own invention. I subsist on squirrels that get too close to my hiding spot. If I had known I could have spent that money all this time, well crap. I could have moved into one of those big trees.

Let me tell you something. When you see or become aware of other people working more than 10 hours a day on their IM business, they don't see it as a struggle.

They don't think it's hard, they enjoy working because internet marketing is their art. Being full time is actually fun. I'm already working more than 10 hours a day at my biz and I enjoy it.

That is FREEDOM for me, my friend. Of course, I can buy more stuff because I have more purchasing power now. The point is, I now have a choice. I can go out when I want to get out.

imer101, whatever your Internet marketing efforts involve, you shouldn't be working so many hours that you don't have time to go out and live your life. The beauty of being self-employed is the freedom you get from it.

To be honest, most IMers procrastinate and take twice the time (or more) than is actually needed to complete their tasks. I recommend sticking to a solid 8 hour working day (just my opinion) and cutting out any distractions - but also take small breaks. There are successful people working very little per day, but that's because they worked hard to get to that point.

If there's too much for you to do in the day, outsource certain tasks. If you're procrastinating too much, try to improve your focus. If it's just that you're not making enough money, then look at applying a different business model.

There's ALWAYS a way to cut down your hours so that you have your freedom. It just depends on why you are working for so long.

Well, I go out as often as I can and buy stuff when needed. The purpose of IMing is for you to spend more time for yourself and your family. Don't let IM imprison you for that 8+ hours of work.

Spending money should not be a problem :-))) Making them, this is quite a challenge!
Being an "IMer" does not mean you you do not have a social life :-))) You can spend your money as any other having different jobs. Or maybe better than them! Because you have as much free time as you plan to have.

I'm not sure if you think marketers are somehow different to the rest of the population - but bills still need to be paid.

Also - you can spend however much money on whatever you fancy, it's your judgement call, and the freedom that is derived from working 'in your pyjamas' enables such things to materialize.

It would be well advised for those just starting out to save their money and reinvest in their business. This allows for accelerated growth as well as having a better chance reaching a sustainable full-time income.

Because internet income varies so much, it can be difficult to make a budget based on it. What I normally recommend to people is to use a budget based on percentages; as follows:

50% - Reinvest in your business
30% - Set side for taxes
      10% - Put into savings
10% - Spend on whatever you choose

This is an easy way to do it, and will keep you in good financial shape.

      All the best,
      Michael

Honestly, the first few years I was in IM, I felt EXACTLY how you feel. I felt like I put in a TON of work for very little return and pretty much all my time was spent on the computer. I didn't have time for friends, a girlfriend, going out with family and much less, leisure shopping. I wanted to just work because I felt like any minute I was away from the computer was another minute I wouldn't earn cash online.

But to be honest, friend, it does get better! Just keep pushing. You'll begin forming systems and outsourcing, creating better funnels, working faster and before you know it, you'll be looking back to the day when you posted this, and smiling.

I love instant pay paypal affiliate programs, because I don't have to wait for my commissions to roll through. Then I have a paypal debit card so I have instant access to my funds anywhere anytime.

Out on vacation? Need an extra couple hundred bucks? Send to your list with a paypal affiliate program, get some quick money in a few hours. It's really the ideal living.

Hope this helps! Be encouraged! It gets good!
    Best of success

If you're serious about making money online, you need to think of it as a job. But just because it's a job doesn't mean you don't enjoy it and it certainly doesn't mean you don't have a life!!

Life is as you make it, my friend. You can choose to be a hermit and work away at your computer 12 hours a day or you set a fixed time for it every day or you can simply enjoy the freedom being your own boss gives you.

As you can see from replies to your thread, there are different styles of working here and it's your choice how you want to work...

As for me, I spend on everything I want to spend on and pay the bills that living a life accumulates. When it's vacation time, I go on vacation and I make sure I spend lots of quality time with family and friends. I am grateful for the life IM gives me and I take full advantage of it.

      I suggest you do too!

IM has enabled me to get some pretty cool stuff - properties, vacations, Rolex and lots of other stuff that really doesn't matter at the end of the day.

What matters is having a business that gives you back time to enjoy the BEST things in life like friends, loved ones, your kids, the great outdoors, exercise and travelling! :-)

What I love about being in IM is that I can go shopping on Mondays. No crowded malls. No psychosis-iinducing traffic on the highway. I love it. It is not what you buy that matters. It is the freedom you enjoy. Life is too short to spend as a wage slave.
