Author Name Kindle Book Publishing Question

So I am about to hire some "ghost writing services" to make me some Kindle ebooks to sell on amazon.

I have a problem related to the author name and credibility. I am from Asia with an Asian name so if I put my real name as an author of the book, I fear it might not sound as credible and might worsen the conversion rate.

What is your input on this thought? What would be your solution to this?

I'm very sorry to say that you're probably right.

Just use a pen-name - it's easy enough to do.

Great! Thanks Alexa Smith. I'll do some research on creating a brandable pen name...

I've actually bought hundreds of Kindle books and never once looked at the author name before purchasing. Sometimes if I really like the book I'll check out their name on Amazon to see if they have other books for purchase.

I second Alexa's comment. Coming up with a Pen Name shouldn't be hard at all. If you do find it to be a bit difficult then simply do a google search for websites that have lists of female/male names to help give you some ideas.

Use a pen name that will resonate with your audience.

Figure out who your ideal reader would be (age, gender, location) then just do a Google search eg. Most popular UK girls baby names 1975

One thing to think about with pen names is can you get the Facebook, Twitter and domain name? You can use namechk.com to see if it is available on social sites.

If the books takes off, it helps if you can brand the author, so being able to get the name at the social media sites helps.

Nobody will care what your name is unless it is Hitler or something.

This is a reasonable question. We actually talk about this loads in our mastermind. It is absolutely okay to use a pen name. What you want to do though is consider using a name that is "familar" but unique so that it stands out.

For instance. Let's take "John Smith" or "Jane Smith". You might consider taking the familiar name "John" but giving it a unique spelling - Jon and instead of "Smith" you do Smithe - so John Doe becomes "Jon Smithe" - which is familiar but unique. Also consider throwing in a middle initial to keep it distinct - Jon B. Smithe.

I hope that helps! You can do it:

    PS
    Here's another strategy

Step 1 - google "list of most common English names"
Step 2 - once you find the list, pick out several female names and male names
Step 3 - use those names but just add a unique initial or middle name
