If the domain name just expired you can still get it back. After some time though depending on who it is with it may go to auction and if not caught in auction it will return back to be registered again on a first come first bought basis.

That's a nice amount of traffic and yes, I would ltry to get that domain back.

Then, look for ways to monetize that traffic, probably the easiest would be to place keyword / traffic-relevant, high-converting CPA offers on it.

It may take awhile for Google to "re-index" your website.

I would get the site back up asap and then use Pingler.com to ping it. (this tells the search engines to index your site) Then, begin adding backlinks to it as well as doing other SEO.

With luck, the site will be back to its original place.

If I were in your shoes, the first thing I would do is check its domain status/information from who.is database. You could visit who.is to see if that domain is already taken by others (fingers crossed, hope not) or if it is still available for re-registration. If its available again, then have it registered again. Then I would follow Dave Espino advice.
